Story
Tiny Tank’s story started right before July 4th when he ran up to us from the street, immediately crawling up our legs, and perching on our shoulders. We immediately took him in due to how malnourished he looked and weren’t sure if he would make it. Within a week he was gaining weight and showed his playful nature. And after a couple weeks he was full interacting with my other two cats and showed a lot of interest in sleeping on our laps. He is the most loving kitten and even puts up with our large puppy. Tank would be good with anyone from a first time cat owner to an experienced cat owner. His favorite thing to do is flips when he’s playing and his favorite past time is definitely eating.

Please note there is no need to complete an adoption questionnaire this  adoption site . We only need our  Adoption Application Questionnaire  completed. March 14, 2025 FURR's kitties Oscar and Tony are featured on a TV News adoption segment! Watch Terry and Lowes in this YouTube video segment! Here's the link if you need to copy/paste it:  https://youtu.be/LLPvPsY9a0Q January 30, 2025   EMMY & BUBBLES, two of our adorable and well loved black cats have been adopted!  I am just ecstatic with joy but did shed quite a few tears too! Emmy was born at FURR and I always felt like I birthed her and the other “Battlet” kittens myself! Read the amazing Battlet family’s story below, including  Mama Batts  (available) and  Daddy Batts  (adopted also). Watching them grow up and having no one want them because they were black, was heart breaking. Bubbles  was one of the kittens I rescued from the Atlantic Seafood place along with 70+ other cats. Bubbles was always so shy and so sweet!  He never had a mean bone in his body and just loved everyone!  He will be missed too!  The wonderful couple, that saw how special these cats were, had a hard time deciding which 2 black ones they wanted!  I think they got a great pair! The night before they left, Emmy & Bubbles were playing and wrestling which made me feel extra good about the pair going together! I’m so relieved that they are in a great home.  Their first night went well and Emmy is purring all over the place & Bubbles is being his quiet sweet self. I can’t wait for Emmy to pray for them!   Watch a video of Emmy “praying” . January 16, 2025  Urgent reminder for Oscar & Tony! These two beautiful, 2 year old brothers, sweet, playful, healthy, completely vetted, door greeters, slick & shiney “panthers” need a home! These cats are amazing! “Purrfect” in every way! They eat well, use the litter box, do well during nail trims, love to play and chase each other and love to cuddle! Where is their family? Please call or text Terry Schultz at 864-483-2444 to meet them as soon as possible! October 30, 2024 Meet Oscar & Tony (shown together above) in their new video!   They are amazing brothers, healthy, happy and ready for adoption! Story
Please note there is no need to complete an adoption questionnaire this  adoption site . We only need our  Adoption Application Questionnaire  completed. March 12, 2025  Great news!  Scrappy has been adopted! This sweet boy was DUMPED at scrap yard along with his sister.  He was skinny and didn’t really know what was happening to him, but he (and his sister) was rescued by FURR!   SCRAPPY quickly became a favorite lover boy at our rescue.  He was so gentle and kind even though he was unsure about his future.  He trusted us and became a gorgeous, shiny golden eyed boy! My niece has adopted him so that keeps him in my family!  I’m so happy for her and Scrappy!  He is doing really great right off the bat! Her long-term roommate has an orange male kitty the exact same age as Scrappy!  Gradually they will meet and hopefully be able to play together!  Right now Scrappy is making air biscuits, purring up a storm and loving all the attention he is getting! HOORAY for a black cat adoption!!! October 19, 2024  Scrappy is a beautiful, SWEET, adorable, big-eyed, BOY!!!  See his new photo standing on the food bin. Yardley is also friendly and purrs when you hold her! Who will LOVE one or both of these babies for life???  Someone LUCKY, LUCKY, LUCKY!!! Watch Scrappy at FURR on Aug. 13, 2024 (copy/paste link into browser): https://www.youtube.com/shorts/mrT905juwJY Watch Yardley at FURR on Aug. 13, 2024 (copy/paste link into browser): https://www.youtube.com/shorts/grSbo8QTAIk   July 24, 2024 Kristy, a FURR Volunteer, notified me about some cats living in a junk yard in Burgaw, NC, near Wilmington.  She met the man that owns it and took some food for the poor skinny cats. There is a mama cat, 2 male cats and 2 kittens. With Kristy’s help, we trapped the 2 kittens and took them to the Cape Fear S/N clinic last week.  My intention was to get them fixed, shots, etc., and release them again. However, the kittens are young and sooo skinny!  They are about 10-12 weeks old.  I have had them recovering at my feral cat sanctuary. The 2 kittens are “Yardley”, a female Domestic Short Hair gray tabby, and “Scrappy”, a male Domestic Short Hair with black fur. They started out scared to death and eyes bigger than saucers.  Now, a week later, they seem glad to see me, I’m petting and holding both of them and they are purring! They will be moved up to the house, and join Connor, after quarantine. Another rescue group is helping me TNR the mama and other 2 male cats.  The sad part is that the mama tabby is really skittish, but wants love.  She could easily be tamed and adopted out, but I just don’t have any room at this time. Story
Please note there is no need to complete an adoption questionnaire on this page. We only need our Adoption Application Questionnaire completed at: https://www.catfurr.org/adoption-questionnaire/ (please copy/paste link) December 12, 2024  Both “Cocoa”, a 6-8 month old black female, and “Rocky”, a 2 year old gray tabby male, are now fixed, microchipped, shots, blood tested, etc.  Now all they need is time and patience to get them ready for an indoor homes. Watch their  video ! We would GREATLY appreciate anyone foster home for these two since we have no where to put them but in a small cage.  Both are healthy, beautiful and progressing nicely. We did receive a donation to cover their cost (thank GOD!), so their current vet bills have been paid!!! November 28, 2024  I successfully caught 2 feral cats early Tues am in Holly Ridge!  My realtor called me because she was moving and had been feeding them.  She didn’t want to just leave them behind. I took traps to her and showed her how to set them up.  The traps were left open for about a week and she fed them inside the traps to get them used to it. Tues morning early I caught them, just as planned and took them to the S/N clinic in Castle Hayne. FURR now has “Cocoa”, a 6-8 month old black female, and “Rocky” a 2 year old gray tabby male who has a raccoon-looking tail like the cartoon character “Rocky Racoon”. My realtor had hoped to keep them at her house for recovery and I loaned her a cage, but trying to take care of these kitties and moving at the same time understandably became overwhelming! So these cats are now at the FURR Sanctuary recovering from their surgery and traumatic day! They are both beautiful and I’m at least relieved that they are safe. Story
Going through a divorce and sadly have to rehome my boys, Ollie and Teddy. A stray cat in my neighborhood gave birth to them and I've cared for them ever since. They are super sweet and love to play (they're orange so they both have a max of 3 braincells as expected lol). I just want them to go to a good home, preferably together since they are super bonded. I'll send them both with a litter box as well. Teddy is a super affectionate guy who loves to cuddle underneath the covers. He loves being with other cats, especially grooming them and giving cuddles. Ollie is a bit more rambunctious, but he's super food motivated and will do anything for a treat. He enjoys his personal space but he is used to being held when needed. They both have been around kids and medium/large dogs (Ollie loves dogs, especially getting licked and rubbing up against them). Feel free to message me if you're interested!
