Story
Meet Fern, a delightful adult feline with a heart full of affection. Despite her cerebellar hypoplasia, Fern doesn`t let anything slow her down. She`s a bubbly spirit, brimming with love and playfulness. She enjoys a good game of chase the feather, and her cuddly nature makes her the perfect companion for cozy evenings. Fern`s condition requires special care, but her sweet disposition more than makes up for it. Her infectious joy and resilience can brighten up any home. Fern would like a home where she is the only feline but would likely settle with a calm canine friend. She will require some modifications in her home to keep her safe when her wobbles get the best of her! A separate room with no hazards is a must. Ferns foster mom is more than happy to talk with potential adopters about the modifications Fern will require in the home. All animals available for adoption at HSHPE have been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed/neutered, and have been treated for internal/external parasites.Adopters will receive a $25 gift certificate from Ren’s Pets and a pet care booklet from Pet Valu with coupons worth up to $300. Story
Meet Tenor! A 5-year-old, Brown Tabby.Tenor is a playful, toothless, chatty guy! Tenor has a dental disease called Stomatitis. Stomatitis causes inflammation of the oral mucosa, which can present itself as ulcers on the lips, cheeks and gums. Tenor will require lifelong medication and has had all his teeth removed except one of his canines, because of this he is on a wet food diet only. Tenor is a big fan of his scratch post, tunnels and play mice. He is not a big fan of being picked up and prefers to show his love on his own terms. Tenor would do well in a home with other cats, he has not been dog tested but this can be arranged with an approved application. Story
Meet Kalabar, a 5-year-old DSH that is very timid and still adjusting to life at the shelter.Kalabar was brought to the shelter as a stray alongside two female cats. He spends most of his time hidden away and will require a patience adopter. Kalabar would most likely do well will another cat that is calm, but has not been dog-tested, this can be arranged with an approved application. Kalabar has a mild form of cerebellar hypoplasia, a neurological condition in which the cerebellum—the part of the brain that coordinates movement—is smaller than usual or not completely developed, but he doesn`t it slow him down.Since Kalabar can be quite shy, he would require a calm home with children 14+ and an adopter that has patience for him to warm up to them. Come and meet him at the shelter! All animals available for adoption at HSPHE have been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed/neutered, and have been treated for internal/external parasites.Adopters will receive a $25 gift certificate from Ren`s Pets and a pet care booklet from Pet Valu with coupons worth up to $300. Story
Meet Maggie! She is a domestic shorthair kitten with a gorgeous brown tabby and tortoiseshell mixed coat. She came in very young and in terrible condition, she may not have survived much longer if left on her own! She went into foster care with a staff member to receive critical care and be nursed back to health and she is now ready to find her forever home. She is a sweet and outgoing girl who doesn’t seem to be bothered much. She loves to run around playing with her toys, her favourite are wand toys and her purple rabbit toy. She can get a tad worked up playing with people sometimes and may get rowdy. She does not like to be held and would much prefer to be running around playing. She has been fostered with another kitten and a couple adult cats and although very nervous and wary of them at first she had settled and enjoyed their company. She would likely be happiest as an only cat so she can be pampered and the queen of her castle, but with a proper and slow introduction she would likely do well in a home with other cats. She is still learning a bit of boundaries with adult cats and can be a little high energy for them at times. Maggie would do well with respectful children of all ages. She has not been dog tested but this can be arranged with an approved application. Due to her critical condition at a young age, Maggie must stay on a high moisture, urinary friendly wet food diet, additional information about her needs can be provided. She is currently still in foster care but a meet and greet can be arranged with her foster with an approved application.
