He is timid from not being socialized but he has warmed up and is doing very well.  At first, Peanut was scared but has slowly come out of his shell.   We have male and female fosters in our home and he gets along with them all.  However, no cats or big dogs, please. He is also doing very well with his foster people (male and female). We are looking for someone who has the patience to help Peanut become the pet he was meant to be.  If you do, then you will have the best boy who is so cute and loving.  Our must haves for Peanut are: Fenced in yard Another small, young, well socialized dog to help him feel comfortable in your home Someone who can be home more than not No apartments, high rises, or condos Think about it. If you have the time and patience, then this is the boy for you.  He will repay it 100 times over in loyalty.   ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten. If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.  There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered.  We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures. To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3. He is still learning what it is like to be a pet. This is where you come in, patience is the key to Samson’s heart. We can tell he wants hugs and kisses but he is just not sure. Remember breeder dogs are not shown attention like other puppies that go into people’s homes so he must warm to the idea of being a pet but he still has a ways to go. Can you help him? After we have had him for a bit, we realize that he really does not need a fenced yard because he really does not care to be outside especially in the cold and rain. So, you would have to be committed to walking him on a leash. If you just let him out without a leash he would run off and we don’t want that phone call, ever! Samson is not a barker so he can be in an apartment or condo, ground floor. He says he would also prefer a warmer climate than here in Tennessee! Our must haves for Samson are: • Ground floor apartment or condo • Someone home more than not • Another adult small dog for him to hang with • Someone that is patient and has breeder dog experience If you meet these requirements then make Samson’s wish come to for a home for spring. Apply online on our website, Samson says he’s waiting for YOU. ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Gracie is an older lady and just wants to find a home where she can spend the last of her golden years.  She is very friendly, loving, and the sweetest little girl.  She gets along great with her foster sisters.  Gracie does not like sharing her doggie bed and will growl if another dog tries to get in bed with her.  She loves to eat but unfortunately, she lost 17 teeth when she had her dental and is still on softened food. Gracie loves spending her days sleeping.  She would do great as an only dog and would love it if you were retired where you would be at home with her all day. Gracie loves cuddling on the couch with her person under her blanket. She would love to sleep in the big bed. Our must haves for sweet Gracie: A fenced yard since she loves walking around and smelling the ground. Someone who is at home all the time Apartment or Condo would be okay. ============= Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime.
