Story
Meet Vader (A564997) a gentle soul looking for his special someone Vader is a 6-year-old, long-haired, absolutely STUNNING German Shepherd who found his way to us through no fault of his own. His world changed when his owner, who had loved and cared for him since he was young, became ill and could no longer provide the care he deserves. Now, this big, beautiful boy is waiting for his next chapter.Vader does have a pre-existing injury or possible birth defect in his back right hip, and because of that, he will need a home committed to ongoing care and vigilance. He has been on joint supplements, which have helped, but as he ages he may need additional medications or support. What he lacks in perfect hips, he more than makes up for in heart. At 100 pounds, Vader is a large presence, but his bark is even bigger! He can sound intimidating, but don’t let that fool you. With his person, Vader is a total love bug who thrives on connection and loyalty. He can be protective of his human (a true shepherd trait), yet he has shown he can accept new people with proper introductions.?? Dog-friendly: Yes! Vader has done well with other dogs both here at the shelter and in his previous home. If another dog annoys him, he gives a fair, appropriate correction and has never escalated to a fight. ?? Cats: He has been exposed to cats, though fair warning, Vader is a bit bossy and has been known to carry them around, with or without their permission. Vader isn’t looking for just any home; he’s looking for his person, someone who understands shepherd loyalty, can manage his medical needs, and is ready to give him the stability and love he’s missing so deeply right now.If you’re searching for a devoted companion, a dog who will stand by your side and love you fiercely, Vader is waiting. Please consider opening your heart and home to this incredible boy.Vader is guesstimated to be 6 years old and weighs 100 lbs. All dogs adopted from Huntsville Animal Services are spayed/ neutered, microchipped, dewormed, appropriately vaccinated, and receive a topical 90-day flea/ tick preventative.Ready to meet Vader? Just stop by our shelter and head to our dog areas. You can find him in kennel D51. All adopters must be 19 years or older with a valid ID.

Story
Frost (A564964) is an affectionate, sweet girl who truly shines when she’s close to her people. She makes friends fast and has never met a stranger. If you’re going somewhere, Frost is more than happy to tag along and be part of the adventure. ????She’s treat motivated, already knows “sit,” and loves engaging with her handler. We think Frost may be a German Shepherd mix, but she’s on the petite side, making her a great medium sized companion for just about any lifestyle. When tested with other dogs, Frost showed that she prefers staying focused on her person. With slow introductions and a patient approach, she may do well with a male dog, but she’d also be perfectly content soaking up all the attention herself. If you’re looking for a loyal, people loving pup who wants to be right by your side, Frost is ready to meet you Frost is guesstimated to be 1 year old and weighs 40 lbs. All dogs adopted from Huntsville Animal Services are spayed/ neutered, microchipped, dewormed, appropriately vaccinated, and receive a topical 90-day flea/ tick preventative.Ready to meet Frost? Just stop by our shelter and head to our dog areas. You can find her in kennel D27. All adopters must be 19 years or older with a valid ID.

Story
Rocky is a sensitive, sweet boy looking for a peaceful place to land. New situations can feel overwhelming for him, so he’s hoping for a home that understands that good things take time. When given space and patience, Rocky blossoms into a loyal, affectionate companion who enjoys calm moments and gentle connection. Rocky would do best in a quieter, adult-only home or one with older, respectful children, where he can feel safe and build confidence at his own pace. He’s looking for someone who values a slower rhythm and is excited to watch a dog grow in trust and confidence. Rocky could be the perfect match for an avid reader, a homebody, or anyone looking for a gentle couch buddy to share quiet evenings with.
