Hey! I'm Cola, a 2-year-old brindle Dutch Shepherd Mixed breed, with a friendly nature and plenty of energy! I am currently located at the Santa Maria campus. I'm a favorite around the shelter thanks to my big goofy smile and playful, puppy-like personality! I love making my human friends laugh and am always excited to spend time with the people I care about. I've lived happily with other dogs and children before, so I know what it's like to be part of a family. Whether I'm playing with my dog friends or enjoying time in the yard, I'm always ready for a little fun. One of my cutest quirks is carrying a toy wherever I go—you might see me proudly trotting around with one on a walk or bringing it to greet you at the door. Sharing my favorite toys is just one of the ways I show my excitement! I'd love an active home where we can enjoy adventures together, followed by a cozy nap when the day is done. If you're looking for a fun-loving, affectionate companion who's equal parts playful and sweet, come meet me—I can't wait to show you what a great best friend I can be! Adoptions are open 12pm-4:30pm every day, except Wednesdays, and no appointment is needed. Like all SBH animals, when I am adopted I will have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. Adoptions also include a certificate for a complimentary post-adoption veterinary exam from a local clinic and our partners at Hills Science Diet will provide a supply of food for my first few days at home. Need some supplies? Both SB Humane Campuses have retail centers stocked with everything you need, at comparable prices, and your purchase helps support our mission. Hope to see you soon!

Story
Thunder is an amazing dog. I adopted him in ‘22, at 7 weeks old, when I was living in ATX. My neighbors’ dogs had puppies and I adopted Thunder through them. Unfortunately, my living situation has changed. I’ve moved into my mother’s house & will be permanently moving out of the country next year. My mom’s Pomeranian mix doesn’t like him, so he cannot stay here when I move & I am unable to bring him with me due to my living situation once I arrive to the next country. Thunder is very loving with my family. He can be very protective over his humans. He is an alpha dog & can be dominate towards other dogs- so whether or not he gets along with other dogs really depends on if they’re an other alpha or submissive. He does good on walks, just bring treats. He loves to be active, loves to swim, etc. but also loves to cuddle & watch a movie. Loves his butt being scratched.His adoption will come with his records, a leash, choke collar, muzzle, dog bed, & dog food to help get him started.

Would you like a giant, furry friend who is content to warm your spot on the couch when you are away and then let you know that you are the most amazing and special person in the world when you come home? While not a guard dog, as Bob makes friends with strangers quite easily, he does have a big, intimidating presence that is just enough to keep any shady riff raff out. What would Bob like from you in exchange for keeping your spot warm, adoring you on a daily basis and keeping the peace in your home and yard? Well, he likes to chase a ball around the yard. He likes having a stuffed animal to carry around. He really likes being with you as much as you'll let him and of course some good quality food, keeping up on his vet checks and a nice soft bed (a spot on yours is even better in his book, but he'll happily stay on his own if you prefer). Bob is really just a great dog that recently suffered the loss of his family. We're trying to help Bob put his world back together. Let us know if you want to meet this big, lovable lug.
