Story
Kevin came to the shelter after a kind Good Samaritan stepped in to help but the shelter environment quickly became overwhelming for him. Like many high-drive working breeds, Kevin thrives with structure and struggled with the stress of kennel life. Kevin is a 4-year-old Dutch Shepherd mix with a big heart and even bigger energy. He is dog-friendly, potty trained, and crate trained. One of his favorite things? Affection. Kevin loves to solicit love by leaning in and giving his signature “hugs.” Kevin has also successfully completed a 6-week board-and-train program, giving him a solid foundation in structure, obedience, and handler engagement. Kevin can be mouthy or occasionally nippy, which is very typical shepherd/Dutchie behavior, especially when excitement isn’t properly channeled. This is not aggression. It's communication and enthusiasm from a smart, driven dog who needs continued guidance and consistency. He is intelligent, powerful, and highly energetic, and he will do best with an experienced handler familiar with shepherd-type or working breeds. Kevin needs someone who can provide firm, loving leadership, clear boundaries, and most importantly a daily job. With structure and purpose, Kevin is focused, friendly, and incredibly loyal. Kevin also loves the water! So if you have a pool or enjoy going to the lake, he will love to take a dip! Kevin is not a beginner dog, but for the right person, he will be an incredible partner. He’s looking for someone who understands his breed, appreciates his drive, and is ready to help him be his very best self. If you’re experienced, active, and ready for a smart dog who thrives with training and structure then Kevin is your guy. If you live in Florida and you're interested in adopting Kevin, please complete our foster/adopter application online at https://form.jotform.com/241102582838152 and someone will be in touch! Story
Apollo is approximately 1 years old. An EMbark DNA test shows Apollo is Belgian Malinois/Dutch Shepherd/German Shepherd mix. Apollo is a goofy, total love bug with a good puppy energy level. He knows basic commands, walks well on a leash, and is normally neutral to other dogs. Apollo is a euthanasia survivor from Miami Dade Animal Services. #A2690586 arrived at the shelter as a stray and due to his size and energy level, he quickly made it on the euthanasia list. He was adopted into the wrong home that let him down after less than 24 hours and later rescued by a volunteer. Two months after being out of the shelter, Apollo decompressed from the stressful shelter environment. He bloomed into a well natured puppy that seeks affection and has a beautiful play style. A DNA test was done on this stunning boy that revealed a wonderful blend of working shepherd breeds: Belgian Malinois, Dutch Shepherd and German Shepherd. Apollo does not react to other dogs but also does not actively engage to play with them. He prefers human interaction but can be introduced to other dogs and coexist peacefully as long as he has his space. He is crate and potty trained and likes the water. He still has puppy energy and would do better in a home where he is not alone for long periods of time. Apollo has been in board and training for over a month and needs to continue to bloom into an active and loving family. Apollo is available for meet and greets in South Florida and has been evaluated by 2 trainers who are available to provide feedback on his personality and potentials. If you live in Florida and you're interested in adopting Apollo, please complete our foster/adopter application online at https://form.jotform.com/241102582838152 and someone will be in touch! Story
Meet Patricia! Patricia is a beautiful 3-year-old German Shepherd mama who is ready to find a patient and understanding family of her very own. With a moderate energy level, she enjoys spending time with her people, exploring the outdoors, and relaxing by your side after a day of fun. Patricia is good with other dogs, walks well on a leash, and knows her basic commands. She absolutely loves to cuddle and is always happy to join you for an adventure—especially if it involves water, one of her favorite things! While Patricia is a sweet and loving girl, she can be shy around new people and needs time to build trust and feel comfortable in unfamiliar situations. Once she knows you, her affectionate and loyal personality truly shines. Because of this, Patricia would do best in an adult-only home with experienced adopters who understand the German Shepherd breed and can give her the patience and guidance she needs to settle in at her own pace. If you're looking for a devoted companion and are willing to give a deserving dog the time she needs to blossom, Patricia may be the perfect addition to your family.

Story
Meet Ginger: Ginger is a 2-year-old King Shepherd mix who came to us as an owner surrender in early 2024 after bravely overcoming a heartbreaking case of parvo. Due to the medical costs, her previous owner was unable to continue her care—but thanks to treatment and time, Ginger is now completely healthy and ready to find a loving home. Ginger is a super sweet dog and a total love bug who truly enjoys affection and being close to her people. She is high energy and can get excited easily, so she would thrive in a home with older children who are comfortable with a large, enthusiastic dog. Ginger benefits greatly from structure and a consistent routine, which helps her channel her energy and feel secure. She does well with other dogs, but can be a bit selective—she will do best with a canine companion who has the right temperament to match her playful, confident personality. With proper introductions and the right match, she enjoys making dog friends and socializing safely. With the right balance of activity, guidance, and love, Ginger is ready to be a joyful, affectionate companion who brings warmth and energy to her new family.
