Story
Meet Mandy Mandy is a gorgeous Plott Hound mix. She was rescued from a high kill shelter. This beauty is incredible! Mandy is just one year old. She is super sweet, affectionate, friendly and outgoing. She's absolutely gorgeous with long legs and a long, lean body. Mandy loves our shelter staff and volunteers. She is so happy to see them, and she calmly sits for scratches and gentle pets. Mandy travels well in a car and likes going places. Mandy is a bigger girl at 60lbs. She is energetic and would do well with an active family or person. She loves walks/hikes, likes to run in a fenced yard, she might even enjoy dog parks or doggie daycare. She loves other dogs and plays very well. She can be submissive if she’s feeling overwhelmed by other dogs.Mandy is sensitive and very smart. She is a gentle soul. Mandy had so many advocates trying to get her to safety and we can see why. She is amazing. It’s so hard to understand how a dog like Mandy finds herself homeless, but the family or person who adopt her will be getting a gem. Mandy is spayed and up to date on all vaccines. If interested in Mandy, please submit an application online at: www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org. Please email our shelter (smithgallhumanesociety@windstream.net) or call our shelter at 706-865-4135 and leave a message to make sure we received your application. All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with current/recent vet and a brief home visit if located in the immediate area. We do permit out-of-state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship, nor do we transport them to their new homes. Adoption policies and application procedures are detailed at the shelter website: http://charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org/ under tab All Adoptable Animals. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are either owner relinquished rescued from area Animal Controls or high kill shelters. The facility usually operates at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open.

Story
Valkyrie, aka Valley, Val Pal! Valley is the perfect example of how dogs that are under stimulated become a menace. She has all the go go go of a Dutch Shepherd, and all the bullheadedness and tenacity of her bully counterpart. Originally from Fl, Val was part of a large hoarding/neglect case, and came into a rural shelter with over 10 other dogs. And there she sat, emaciated, bored out of her mind, and all wound up with nowhere to go. After getting on a transport up to SC, she went through foster after foster until we got this girl into a 5 week board and train- where she absolutely killed it! She learned basic commands, had a ton of public exposure, and learned to love structure and boundaries. We also discovered per love for sports! This girl has tackled weight pull and FastCAT with not only no issues, but overall exuberance! She is unfazed by the public, is social social social with people- including kids- and loves her chosen doggy play friends! On that note; Valkyrie is large, intense, and loud- this is a combo that many dogs do not like. Valley is not a candidate for a home with small dogs, cats, or dogs that are overly dominant or submissive. Meet and greets are a must to make sure everyone gets along. Val is the definition of a 'do it all' dog, and she is SO easy to handle once she's done it! On a consistent schedule of training and enrichment, she is calm and docile inside. This is not the dog you leave in your house with no crate and no exercise- unless you're prepared to come home to a mess! To the wrong home, Valley seems like "a lot," and to her perfect home, someone that is in love with bullherders and their unique blend of traits, she's your next titled sport dog and treasured companion, waiting to take her place at your side. *Valkyrie is available for adoption in Greenville SC. Out of state adopters MUST come meet their dogs in person

Story
Want a dog that blends in with everything? This is your guy. No need to buy a camouflage collar, he's got you covered. Tiger is a mIx breed of "who the heck knows" and "I'm not really sure" so of course Dutch Shepherd mix is a guess. Tiger is upbeat and SMART. He is currently working on foundation obedience training and hopes to earn his graduation certificate. Tiger has been with us for over a year, he grew up in rescue, and really deserves his first FOREVER HOME. They ALL DO!! We will know more about Tiger once we receive feedback from our trainer. But feel free to email about this handsome boy. 7-17-25
