Story
Meet Wednesday (but my foster family calls me Hope)! 🐾 Breed: Dutch Shepherd Mix with precious big ears! Age: 12 Months Size: Medium Gender: Female About Me: Hi, I’m Wednesday, but my foster family calls me Hope because I have bright future ahead of me! I’m an 11-month-old, 40 lb Dutch Shepherd Mix with a heart full of love and a desire to please. I am a beautiful brindle color with short hair. I started my journey in a shelter in Texas where I was found as a stray, and at first, I was understandably a bit frightened and cautious in new environments. I’ve had to learn adjust to new people and surroundings but once I feel comfortable and secure I will settle in. I don’t like loud noises or people, this reminds me of my days as a stray. I am still young, so I’m learning more every day. I promise I’ll bring plenty of joy, affection and tail wags into your life. My favorite time of the day is when my foster family joins me on the couch so I can snuggle up with them. I just want to be near my humans! I get along great with my 4 canine foster siblings (both big and small) and am thriving in a home where I can interact and play with them. I am submissive to the others in the pack and have shown no aggression towards them. There is also a cat in the house that I love to chase when he walks by. He’s not interested in getting to know me though and so I move on quickly to other things. I’ve become an expert leash walker during my time up North. I love our walks and am always up for a new adventure! I am kennel trained and spend my day waiting for my foster family to come home from work while enjoying a chew toy or bone. At night I slept in my crate but now they have given me the option to sleep in the bed with the other dogs of the house and I sleep like a baby! I am mostly potty trained. I am young and used to living on the run so I do have occasional accidents in the house. I do always find the potty pad if I need to and if you pay attention to my cues, I let you know that I need to go out. I’m also great at riding in the car, I’ll curl right up and you won’t hear a peep out of me. I have not been in the presence of young children so I’ve not been exposed to quick movements or loud noises. My foster mom thinks that as long as they were kind and gentle to me, I would do fine. I am spayed and up to date on my vaccinations. What I’m Looking For: I’m looking for a loving family who can help me continue to grow and learn. A home with another dog(s) would be fun for me and I’ve done well fitting in with the dogs in my foster home. A fenced-in yard would be a bonus, I don’t have that right now but this would allow me to run around and get rid of some of my puppy energy. I’m more than happy to go for walks and play outside with you. I’m still a young girl, so I’ll need some patience and guidance as I adjust to my new family, but I’m eager to please and learn everything I can. My foster mom thinks I am super smart! I may have had a rough start, but I’m grateful to have been brought up from the shelter and given a new chapter on my young life. I am looking for someone who will be patient, kind and willing to give me the time to adjust to my new home. Although I am a little shy at first, I promise to be a loving, loyal companion and will quickly become a cherished member of your family. Interested in meeting me? If you think we’d be a great match, please contact Safe Haven Rescue to learn more about me and schedule a meet-and-greet. I can’t wait to meet my forever family! Our standard adoption fee is $375 cash or check and $385 credit card ($10 processing fee). . It includes spay/neuter when age appropriate at our participating vets, age-appropriate core vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative,1st vet visit at one of our participating vets, and micro-chipping. Story
Hi, I'm Kehlani and I am so glad you are taking a look at me. Meet Kehlani, a sweet and playful 5-month-old mixed breed pup who's ready to find her forever home! Kehlani is a friendly, affectionate girl who loves everyone she meets, whether it's people, other dogs, or even cats! She's got the typical puppy energy, so she's always up for a good time and plenty of play-whether it's fetch, tug-of-war, or just running around. Kehlani is doing great with leash training and is already getting the hang of potty training, so she's on her way to becoming the perfect companion. While she loves to stay active, she's also content to relax and chill out when the playtime is over. If you're looking for a fun-loving, affectionate puppy who can keep up with your active lifestyle and still enjoy some quiet moments, Kehlani could be the perfect fit for you. Come meet her today and see how she can brighten your home!I know my cute face is irresistible, but remember that I will take up lots of your time and attention while I grow into an awesome adult dog. Socialization, training (including house training), and exercise are just a few of the things I will look to you for. Chewing, teething, and learning what is Okay and not Okay to put in my mouth are all part of the puppy experience. And, be prepared for the time and money for frequent trips to the vet during the first few months so I can get up to date on my boosters and vaccines. But most of all, be prepared for all of the LOVE, puppy kisses, and joy I will bring into your life. My adoption comes with some extra benefits at the time of adoption! Kehlani is an All-Star dog! Her adoption appointment includes a discussion with our Training Team, and she will go home with his very own no-pull-harness and a few enrichment goodies to help get her off to a good start! To schedule an appointment to meet Kehlani, email info@ahconnects.org (please include your name and phone number), and the staff will be happy to help you!

Story
**COURTESY POST** Please call Danielle directly if interested.  847-452-7742 This is Odyn. Odyn is looking for a spiffy new home and someone to call his best friend!  Odyn came from an out of state high kill shelter and we haven’t been able to find a foster or forever home for him in over a year! He has spent most of the past year in a kennel facility and he deserves better. He is about 45lb, maybe 5 years old. We believe him to be a Dutch Shepherd/Pitty mix. He’s gentle and sweet with a little bit of sass. He loves humans and will do anything for a treat. He loves playing fetch with his ball or squeaker. He is a big snuggler and will melt into your lap if you let him. Odyn is very smart and knows most of his basic commands. He loves his crate and goes into his crate on command, does well in the car and on a leash, is potty trained, and does not have destructive habits. He seems fine with other dogs and cats while on a leash or through a fence as shown in the video, but we haven’t been able to successfully introduce him to other animals when he meets them nose to nose and no fence. We could possibly consider homing him with well balanced dogs the same size or smaller if introductions went well, but prefer him to be the only animal in the home. Odyn needs to be in a home with no children because he lacks a bit of confidence and the unpredictable behavior of children could make him nervous. He has not been behavior-tested with children. He would do best with a gentle, but structured human who can help him feel confident and secure, and one who is willing to continue any necessary training needed to build his confidence, if needed. When you meet Odyn, his gentle eyes and sweet demeanor will snatch your heart right out of you. If you can’t commit to adoption, he is in need of a foster home as well! Located Elgin, IL Please inquire today and come meet this deserving boy! Please contact Danielle to 847-452-7742 to meet Odyn ##1294602##

Story
Salem is a 6 year old Dutch Shepard lab mix and has an eagerness to please. She is quick to learn and is fully house, and crate trained. I originally adopted her in September of 2022 but for the past 6 months she has been living with my parents due to a job change and a divorce I was no longer able to care for her. Initially she got along with my parents dog but as of recently there has been tension between the two and my parents feel they can no longer house her. Salem is a lover who is happiest when she is on a walk, playing ball, or receiving belly scratches. She would be great for anyone looking for companionship and is always a joy to come home to. During my time with her she was fully off leash trained with both heeling and recall from out of sight distances.
