Thanks to a grant from the Petfinder Foundation, my adoption fee is 75% off. So I'm only $50 to adopt. Hi, I'm JoJo! I'm a 2.5 year old Dutch/German Shepherd mix. I'm as loveable as can be and am such a good boy! I get along great with other dogs, walk okay on a leash, and am even potty-trained. I need a home without cats though as I like to chase them. I'm in a foster home and patiently waiting for my chance at a forever home.  If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! Raven is my name and kind of like a raven, I am a 'loner'... except for the puppies i had when I arrived at the rescue... I was saved by a trapper on the streets, they weren't even there to save ME that day, but they did!!! I am obviously a beautiful girl, big and solid as well as black and brindly. I am a loving girl, in my own way... i lived on the streets for who knows how long and I honestly am not a cuddly girl or even a sit by your feet dog, YET... I have all kinds of love to give, you can see in my eyes that I have always dreamed of someone with the patience to love me for who I am and who I can be!! I am great on a leash and do love walking around and exploring. I am good with other dogs and likely would do best with another dog who is calm and confident with his/her family. I am so so ready for you, I have the shepherd double coat so I will shed in your house, must have a great vacuum cleaner and tolerance of hair :) Local adoption fee is $300(in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $550 (includes transport to your area)

I was part of a litter called the Seasoning Squad! I was adopted in 2025 and now I'm back through no fault of my own. My people just didn't have a place for me to stay with them when they moved. I'm thought to be a dutch shepherd mix, but probably a mix of a lot of things. I am a good girl and hoping you'll give me a chance to show it. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Zola: protector & sensitive soul Rarely does a gorgeous mix of a dog with such a tender heart survive a history of neglect and abuse, yet emerge so loving, affectionate and dedicated to guarding her household. Zola is one such tale. She was found under a daycare, having given birth to a litter of puppies. Always stunning in looks as a black mouth cut/Dutch shepherd mix (our best guess), she was shut down, shy, wary of raised voices & reaching hands, but never, ever mean. In her foster mom’s home, she has gradually come out of her shell. She now loves being hugged on, petted, brushed. She oh, so gently takes treats. She is great with other dogs, but her favorites to cuddle with are similar to her in size. She is very gentle with children, and extremely emotionally intuitive. She takes “night patrol” duties seriously, having assigned herself the task of ensuring property safety before she settles indoors to sleep. Zola is ready & so deserves a loving furever home of her own. She will make an excellent addition to a family or as a solo dog. Have you ever seen a big doggy PUPPY? Well if you saw my pics, you have NOW! I have a perpetual puppy face, so very cute! I am a great boy and would LOVE a busy family to do fun stuff with then to just hang out relaxing with. I came to the rescue so long ago that all my family has been adopted and I'm still waiting ................... My rescue friends and can't figure out why. I'm a smart, friendly, happy and busy boy. I'd love someone to take life one adventure at a time with. If you know the Belgian Malinois breed you know that exercising my body is good, but it just makes me stronger and have more stamina ;) So you have to ALSO exercise my brain and I'm open to all the fun ways to do that! Meet Tempe! Tempe and her siblings came to us in very rough shape, skinny little babies who needed a kind and understanding heart to show them that not all people are bad. Through lots of love and care (and plenty of kibble!) We were able to get all of her litter back into good shape, happy, and growing. Tempe herself is a great dog: very loving, friendly and energetic. She gets along well with people, children and other dogs. Could probably use some more exposure with cats. She's a water dog! She loves playing and drinking water, but she drinks on her own terms. Tempe has done really well at our local adoption events but is still looking for her forever family!
