Story
Originally from Germany; Desdemona (known as Mona) is an 8-yr old Dutch Shepherd. Shes extremely sweet and smart! She does not get along with other dogs and will need to be in a 1 dog household. Even though she is 8, she is still full of energy. If you want her to be energetic, she will play for hours. If you want to chill, she is more than happy to be a couch potato. She loves to love, and she finds joy in making her person happy.

Story
Meet Roxanne! She’s a 9-month-old Dutch Shepherd mix and an absolute beauty. She has a striking brindle coat that glows in the sun, big expressive amber eyes, and a sweet little white chest patch that makes her look even more unique - but what really makes her special is her gentle, loving nature. Roxanne is loyal, affectionate, and loves nothing more than being close to her people. She’s a little shadow who happily follows you around and settles in for snuggles any chance she gets. She does great with kids, cats, and other dogs, making her an easy fit in almost any home. This sweet girl is crate trained and picking up on house training quickly. She’s spayed, UTD on vaccinations, and ready to find the loving forever family she deserves.

Story
Look at handsome Hank! This sweet, soulful boy has one simple wish in life — to be loved and to belong.Hank was adopted as a puppy from a shelter, but as he grew into his big, beautiful self, his family decided he was “too big” for their home and returned him. Thankfully, one of our dedicated southern rescuers stepped in before he had to face shelter life again and welcomed him into foster care. Now thriving in a home environment, Hank is showing everyone what an incredible companion he truly is.In his foster home, Hank is a happy, affectionate guy who absolutely adores people. He lights up when the grandkids come over and has shown nothing but playful, gentle behavior with them and his foster’s son. He loves being part of the action and happily soaks up all the attention he can get.Hank also gets along wonderfully with other dogs and enjoys having playmates to romp around with. As for cats, he hasn’t bothered his foster mom’s cat, though she tends to keep her distance — so a slow, proper introduction woth a dog-savvy cat would be best.He is house-trained and does well when let out regularly, though he has had a couple of accidents if his cues are missed. Hank has been crated in the past and tolerates it, though it’s not his favorite place to be. He has done well roaming the house without issue, but continued crate use when left alone — at least until he’s fully settled — would be a smart transition plan.Hank walks decently on leash and would benefit from continued structure and consistency. He can get a little anxious in the car, but when secured with a seatbelt, he relaxes and settles nicely — it seems to give him a sense of security. This high-energy, athletic boy is looking for an active home with a yard where he can stretch his legs and burn off energy. He would make a fantastic running partner and would thrive with a family that enjoys outdoor adventures and includes him in their daily life.Hank has so much love to give and so much life to share. He just needs a family who will see his worth, embrace his size, and promise him forever this time. Story
Meet Sara — Your New Best Friend in a Perfectly Trained, 45-Pound Package of Love At just 20 months old, Miss Sara is already proving to be the kind of once-in-a-lifetime dog everyone hopes for—smart, affectionate, eager to please, and now… beautifully trained. Originally adopted as a puppy, Sara was very loved—but when her owner sadly fell ill and could no longer care for her, everything changed. She returned to us with a heart full of love, but without the manners every young pup needs. We knew this girl had potential, so off she went to a professional 3-week training program… and wow, is she showing off. &#226&#156&#133 Training? She’s nailing it. &#226&#156&#133 People? She adores them. &#226&#156&#133 Dogs? Instant besties. &#226&#156&#133 Kids? She belly-crawls just to be close to them—it’s beyond precious. We believe she’s a Dutch Shepherd mix, weighing in at about 45 pounds, with a gorgeous, sleek coat and a heart that beats for human connection. She is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccines—and yes, ready to go! Now, she’s just looking for a home that can match her devotion with love and guidance. Toys are her jam, and she’ll happily entertain herself or join you for a game of fetch. No kitties for this girl, please! Chasing them is just too much fun, and she needs a cat-free home to thrive. Sara is the kind of dog who makes you feel like the most important person in the world. Her loyalty is unmatched, her spirit is bright, and her readiness for her forever home couldn’t be clearer. Interested in giving this beautiful girl her happily-ever-after? Email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com today. Let Sara show you what love, intelligence, and a second chance can really look like. PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.June 11, 2025, 9:36 pm

Story
Meet Echo! Echo is an adventurous, loving and smart shepherd mix. She is an active girl looking for a fresh start!Echo`s three favorite things are being outside, cream cheese and tennis balls. She loves to spend her days outside playing fetch, going on hikes and then settling in with some cream cheese filled enrichment. If you`re looking for a happy adventure buddy, then Echo is the one for you!Echo is looking for adopters who can continue to put her brain to use (she loves to learn new tricks) and show her the ropes of being a dog. She is incredibly loyal and will lean in for pets once comfortable. Echo may enjoy living with older kids, but we are not sure if she ever has lived with them. Dogs? Maybe, but they would have to meet first. If you are interested in adopting Echo, please come to the shelter on Mondays, Wednesday and Thursdays between 12-4pm and bring the folks that you live with. If you are unable to come during those hours, please email dogs@worcesterarl.org to request an appointment, and let us know your availability.

Story
Meet Baylee, a silly, playful and adventurous shepherd mix. There is nothing Baylee loves more than playing with toys (especially in the snow- she’s a huge fan). She is a true fetch fanatic and could spend all day with her favorite tennis balls and stuffies. She even carries them with her on walks!! She is incredibly food motivated and loves to learn.Baylee is super smart and has already mastered sit, paw and down. While she is still learning to calmly walk on leash she has made great progress. Baylee has enjoyed going on hikes with her favorite staff members and would thrive in an active home where she has the opportunities to get all her energy out. Due to her size and exuberant personality, if there are to be kids in her new home, she would do best in a home with older teens who are big enough that she can romp around and continue training with. She would prefer to be the only dog so she can soak up every minute of attention but might be able to have dog friends. If you are interested in adopting Baylee, please come to the shelter on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between 12-3:45pm. Please bring everyone who would live Baylee. Please email dogs@worcestearl.org to see what other times may be available if you are unable to come during the above hours

Story
Meet Balto, a handsome 4 year old pup in the prime of his life — strong, energetic, and ready for adventure. This handsome boy came to Broken Tail Rescue when his owner sadly realized they could no longer give him the time and attention that he needs. Now, Balto is waiting for a family who can match his enthusiasm and zest for life. Balto is exceptionally smart and highly food-motivated, which makes training both fun and effective. He loves learning, thrives with structure, and truly enjoys working with his people. Whether it’s mastering new commands, going on long walks, playing fetch, or engaging in mentally stimulating games, Balto is happiest when he’s active and involved. Winter is his season — he absolutely lights up in the snow! Watching him roll, bounce, and zoom around in a snowy yard is pure joy. Because of his energy level and strength, Balto would do best in a home where people are around often and can provide regular exercise, continued training, and plenty of engagement. He has a big personality — playful, affectionate, and full of character — along with an even bigger heart. He bonds deeply with his humans and wants nothing more than to be part of the action. His ideal forever home would include a family, someone that works from home, and a fenced in yard. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will keep you active, make you laugh, and shower you with love, Balto may be your perfect match. If you are interested in finding out more about Balto, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO/Dog Balto is being fostered in Worcester, MA. The adoption fee is $500. Like Broken Tail Rescue on Facebook!. Follow Broken Tail Rescue on Instagram! Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.
