Story
Kuma is a very sweet lady! Born during Covid, she definitely suffers the effects of being undersocialized because of the time in which she was a puppy… With people she is familiar with, she’s a perfect angel - sweet, silly, SUPER chill, friendly, and cuddly! Once she meets someone once or twice, it’s all good. With other dogs, she gets along with 99% of dogs — she even goes to daycare! There’s one dog every few weeks that she doesn’t get along with, but usually it goes well. The reason she needs to be rehomed is unfortunately because Kuma does NOT do well with children or babies. Even with intense professional training over a year, it did not improve at all. Kuma would do best in a home with NO children, and possibly a furry sibling! She would also do best with a fenced yard as she is quite reactive to strangers. Please reach out if interested and we can go into more detail over a video call. We are looking for a very loving home for this angel, Kuma. She deserves the best!

Story
Tatum is a gorgeous, shy German Shepherd Dog who had a rough start to life. Tatum is hoping to find an adoptive home who has experience with dogs, and understands their body language. He is wonderfully sweet and curious once he makes friends with new people. Tatum has a great nose and loves long, sniffy walks, and exploring. Tatum is affectionate and happy with people he trusts, and walks fairly well on a leash. He will bark at new people who move quickly towards him, and likes to make friends by just hanging out and going for walks without being the center of attention. Tatum is very gently curious about other dogs, and may be able to live with another dog who can approach him calmly. At this time he is looking for an adult home, and may take a few meets before he is ready to go home with an adopter. This great boy will make a wonderful friend for an adopter who is willing to go slow, and build his confidence. If you are are interested in meeting Tatum, please head to our website at worcesterarl.org and fill out the Dog Adoption Inquiry to request a meet with Tatum. All adoptions are by appointment, thank you!

Story
Sammy is super sweet! This boy enjoys long quiet walks, and has grown to adore the staff who cares for him. When meeting new people you will definitely see Sammy's shy side. Sammy is a gentle pup who doesn't like to be rushed into making friends. He prefers to take his time and let you show him that you can be patient with him. Sammy make take more than one visit at the shelter to get comfortable with new folks, but once he does, you will have yourself a best friend. Due to Sammy's shyness, we will be looking for a home without children, and a home without lots of people in and out. Sammy may enjoy living with other dogs, but they would have to meet first. If you are viewing this dog's profile on Adopt-a-Pet and are interested in adopting, please head to our official website at www.worcesterarl.org to fill out a Dog Adoption Inquiry Form, which will be located under the dog's profile. That is the first step! All adoptions are by appointment, thank you!

Story
Niko is a 4 yo german shepherd. His birthday is 2/2/18 so he's almost 5. I got him right before Covid so he was not socialized as much as he should've been and has some social anxiety when other humans come to his home or are around his humans. He is extremely protective of what's his and will give ample warning to those who are a threat by barking and pushing them back with his nose. He has to be medicated when he goes to the vet to calm him. With the right training and time this can be corrected. He's extremely intelligent and willing to learn new things. He's a working dog by nature. He loves walks, playing catch with his tennis ball, squeaky toys and lots of attention. He won't leave your side or run away. He's house trained and food driven. I lost my husband to suicide a year ago and due to financial reasons I cannot keep him. I am heartbroken and desperate to find him a loving home asap.

Meet Scarlett! Hello, wonderful people! My name is Scarlett, and I'm here to share my dreams of finding a forever home where I can truly thrive. Life at the shelter is okay, but I know there's so much more out there waiting for me.You see, I'm quite the adventurous spirit! I dream of wide-open spaces where I can stretch my legs and let my energy run wild. Whether it's exploring new trails, playing fetch in the yard, or just soaking up the sunshine, I'm always ready for a new adventure. Now, here's the thing - I'm not too fond of other animals. Ok I lied I really really don't like them and have a high prey drive but my hoomans have trained me to wear a basket muzzle so I can still go places and everyone is safe. With positive reinforcement I don't mind it at all. That's right, I prefer to be the one and only pet in the household. I thrive on undivided attention and love, and I just know I'll shine brightest when I'm the center of your world.I must admit, I do have quite a bit of energy, so I'd do best in a home with adults who can match my enthusiasm and appreciate my loyal nature. Together, we'll conquer the world and make memories that'll last a lifetime.Oh, and one more thing - I require a fenced-in yard. It's essential for me to have a safe and secure space where I can run and play to my heart's content. My hoomans say no exception on this they want to make sure I and as safe as possible. So, if you're ready to open your heart and home to a brave, energetic, and fiercely loyal companion like me, then look no further! Let's embark on this journey together and create a bond that's truly unbreakable. Reach out to the shelter, and let's make my dreams of a forever home a reality.

Story
Hi, I'm Jazz, a young German Shepherd, born in a rural area where I ended up in a shelter where there was no foot traffic. No visitors means no adoptions and when more dogs are brought in my time is up. Amazing animal lovers sounded the alarm and reached out to Save A Dog. Everyone says, "Jazz is absolutely gorgeous and he rides great in a car." Available to meet 5/13/24, but apply now so you don't miss out! He will be neutered on 5/15 and then ready for his forever home! Please apply at https://www.saveadog.org/applytoadopt.asp.

Story
G’day Mate…Meet Roo! This 10-month old canine kangaroo came to us from local animal control after being found as a stray. Roo Roo is a 29-lb pipsqueak, who bounces around to her people looking for love. She loves playing fetch inside (and out!) and has an adorable sprint where she looks like she’s hopping around like a magic marsupial. Roo is cute, super tiny, lovable, attentive, and a true velcro pup when snuggled up inside. She is elegantly agile and can squeeze into the smallest of spots with grace…whether it’s between her people cuddling on the couch, or just squeaking by your legs as something falls to the kitchen floor. She also eats any and all treats, which will make continued training a breeze! Despite her young age, Roo knows exactly who she is…very warm, snuggly, overly friendly, and loves giving face kisses (seriously – non-face kissers need not apply). Roo looks like a miniature German Shepherd, but without all the shedding, and has some age-appropriate puppy energy. She loves, loves, loves to play with her canine foster sister! But is just as content to let you throw a shrimp on the barbie and just hang out with the fam. She especially loves going for walks with the ENTIRE family. Roo is an easy and loveable pup who would be great for most families. Due to her lack of history, older kids would be best for this special snuggle buddy. Roo’s top 3 priorities: 1. A family who gives her the attention she craves and one who doesn’t spend long days away from home.  2. A family devoted to continue teaching her basic manners to help her be the best pup ever. She is VERY treat motivated and eager to learn. 3. A family dedicated to lots of playtime to help burn her puppy energy, so she can relax and become the best snuggle bug ever!May 2, 2024, 4:54 pm

Story
Guinness is a stunner. He gets compliments on his looks wherever he goes. When this solidly built long-haired dog responds to a recall, he comes running with power, grace, and fluidity. It’s a sight to be seen. Guinness usually loves meeting people and happily accepts pets from them. He enjoys walks around the neighborhood and on the trail. He is also very content to just hang out with his human. Guinness was originally rescued down south after being found tied to a tree, and through no fault of his own, has lived in several homes since then. But he didn’t let his rough start at life affect him and was an affectionate dog from the get go. Guinness found his way to a local family wanting to give him a better life. But, because of life changes, they weren’t able to give him the attention and exercise he needed. They loved him and wanted to make sure they gave him the best life possible so they contacted us. Guinness is sweet and calm around people, young and older. He has good manners and takes treats with due consideration of fingers. He is a love sponge who likes to flop down next to you to cuddle and may even doze off while you gently stroke his luxurious fur. Guinness can be reactive to dogs he doesn’t know, especially when one surprises him. He can cope in such situations if given a chance to see that the other dog is not coming to get him along with treats to teach him to stay focused on you as he moves past the other dog. Guinness did very well in “pack walks” intended to help dogs of any age become better socialized. He also lived with a 3 year old female German Shepherd and an 11 year old (but very spry) male smooth fox terrier and they all got along well. This affectionate dog is ready for his forever home. The ideal owner will commit to continuing his training and understanding what is needed for continued success. We have selected “no” to the question of “good with other dogs” in the stats section of his bio out of abundance of caution but will entertain applicants with other dogs given the information discussed above. If you are the person that understands the importance of training, understands the breed, and are ready to commit to Guinness, he will reward you with love, loyalty, and companionship.

Story
Before calling about this dog, please read our adoption requirements at: https://gsrne.org/requirements-for-adopting-from-gsrne/ Hi! My name is Muks, and could You be my Forever Family? But first, I have to tell you something a bit embarrassing from a dog’s perspective. I couldn’t believe when I read in Wikipedia’s ‘Wiktionary’ that the definition of my name is “the sound of someone falling over”! They said my name is an onomatopoeia, whatever that is. How can this be? I never fall over! In fact, I love to be the dog on the go whether it’s hiking with my foster dad, playing outside with the kids, chasing balls in the backyard, or going to training and learning all about how to be the best dog I can be! The only time I admit to falling over (well…rolling over, actually) is when belly rubs are coming my way. And if you scratch my tail, I’ll even do my special little happy dance for you! At first I was a little nervous meeting other dogs as I hadn’t been around a lot of them. But with training and help from my foster dad, I’ve been told I’m more confident, respectful, and friendly with dogs. In fact, I’ve become quite the young man. And I’m way well-behaved in the home - no counter surfing, no jumping on furniture, and I give people their space when they have work to do. Yay, me! And I’m not sure I want to live alone. Since I’m such a nice young man but could still stand some confidence building, I wouldn’t mind living with the right female dog, a good-natured pal I could play with and continue to learn from - like the all-important mission of dogs the world over: how to convince people to give us more treats! And since I’m not quite two years old I have a lot of energy to burn and would love it if you’d take me for training, maybe explore doing scent-work, agility, or other fun stuff to do. And when the day is done, just roll over for those belly rubs. I can’t wait to meet you!
