She is incredibly smart, thrives with clear communication, structure, and routine, and forms strong bonds with her people. She loves learning, enrichment, and being close to her person. She rides very well crated in the car and enjoys going places, making her a great companion for daily activities and adventures. Khali is being fostered in the O’Fallon / St. Charles County area by a fear free dog trainer who has worked with her for about a year and will help support her transition and teach her new home all about her known skills. Khali needs an adult only home as the only pet with no cats or small animals. She will do best in a calm, predictable home with someone around often.

Hi, I'm JoJo! I'm a 2 year old Dutch Shepherd mix. I'm as loveable as can be and am such a good boy! I get along great with other dogs, walk okay on a leash, and am even potty-trained. I need a home without cats though as I like to chase them. I'm in a foster home and patiently waiting for my chance at a forever home. If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2684105##

I was saved by a trapper on the streets, they weren't even there to save ME that day, but they did!!! I am obviously a beautiful girl, big and solid as well as black and brindly. I am a loving girl, in my own way... i lived on the streets for who knows how long and I honestly am not a cuddly girl or even a sit by your feet dog, YET... I have all kinds of love to give, you can see in my eyes that I have always dreamed of someone with the patience to love me for who I am and who I can be!! I am available through HSMO’s Foster-to-Adopt program! I am being treated for heartworm disease, and because the treatment can take a few months, I am able to continue my treatment in your home, rather than stay in the shelter during that time. Once my treatment is over, we can finalize the adoption, making me a permanent member of your family. HSMO will provide all the food, medication, and veterinary care during the foster period, and the staff at HSMO is happy to answer any questions you might have about heartworms. You will need to bring me to the HSMO shelter to see the veterinarian as needed, and to avoid complications from the treatment, I need to be kept as quiet as possible. That means no rough housing or playing hard with people or other pets. I will need to be on leash outside at all times and can only take short, 15-minute walks three to four times a day. However, the good news is that once my treatment is over, I can run and play and be silly again! I am looking for a forever family or a family to love me until my forever family finds me. Hi! I'm Thallo, a big and lovable 11 month old German puppy. The humans that could help me articulate my backstory don't have a lot about me, but I did find myself in a shelter and H2H was able to get me out of there and into a foster home with other dogs and cats! I am such a happy boy. I love people and other dogs. I'll do really well in your home with a fenced yard to wander around in and any other doggies who like dogs and, if needed can growl to help me understand my boundaries. I pick up quickly, so odds are that they're not going to have to tell me twice! Within the first 24 hours of being here, the human whose house I'm in had to leave, and left me to free roam with the other dogs! The cats have their own rooms with dog gates and cat doors. (I don't currently sleep in a crate, but if you have one that's big enough and introduce ms to it so it feels like a place of comfort, I pick up super quickly.) On the topic of cats, they didn't look familiar to me at first. I am cat insensitive unless they start darting like they're trying to egg me on to play. I initially give chase, but then stop when the human says to stop. I can totally be within a foot or two of a cat and pay absolutely no attention to him or her. This human also thought I should brag that within the first 36 hours of being here, I was sitting for meals and to go outside. Still working on the potty training, but hey, I was in a shelter, so this is brand new to me. Did I say that I catch on awfully quickly? The human also says that I've never met a human I don't, or wouldn't, love. Nor a couch or a lap that isn't mine to get on! Please give me ✅ a fenced yard or walks I'm great (or good) with ✅ humans ✅ older kids (who I wouldn't knock down and can help enforce my training rather than let me be 110% boisterous puppy 110% of the time) ✅ dogs - I love other dogs and am very playful if they will have it! ✅ dog-savvy cats
