Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.DOUG ~3 years old. Good with dogs and kids over 16. Not good with cats. Fenced yard required. Residents of NC and SC Click to apply for Doug Please Note: This link will take you to Blue Moon Shepherd Rescue.                Meet Doug, a three year old Dutch shepherd with an incredible personality. He has typical Dutch shepherd energy and requires exercise and walks each day. He is very well trained and enjoys working. But don't let his playful nature fool you, because he also knows how to relax and enjoy quality time with his humans. This handsome boy has a special talent for falling asleep on the kitchen floor or snuggling up on the couch next to you while giving gentle rubs.  Doug loves people, dogs, and kids. Because of his exuberant and playful nature, he would do best with kids over 16 years of age.  A family or owner who is experienced  with Dutch or German Shepherd dogs is mandatory.  Doug could be happy as an only dog, but would also love a companion dog to play with. It is an absolute MUST  that his home has a secure fenced in yard. Being a herding breed, Doug does have a high prey drive, so he would do best in a home without cats. His love for toys is unmatched, especially his beloved ‘Egg’ that he carries around everywhere. In typical Dutch fashion, he will happily engage in playtime with you for hours on end. Doug does require daily exercise to work off his high energy. He enjoy walks and exploring new places and also enjoys riding in the car. If you're searching for a loyal and affectionate companion, Doug may be the dog for you. He is eagerly waiting for someone who can provide him with the love and care he deserves.  Again, Doug is a Dutch shepherd and will require an experienced handler. Doug is not a good first time pet.  Not for apartment living or homes without a backyard. Doug is neutered, up to date on vaccines, on monthly heartworm preventative, highly obedience trained and crate trained.  If you are interested in adopting Doug or have any questions, you can contact Donna at BMSR1313@gmail.com or fill out an online application at https://form.jotform.com/83115668015152 Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.For more information on our adoptable pet list please visit: Adoptable Pet List Please join us at our next Event(s): Current Scheduled Events:         April 18, 2024, 11:42 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. POE ~2-3 years old.  Good with most larger dogs. Not good with kids. Cats TBD. Fenced yard required. GSRA adopts to residents of VA, NC, and SC only Are you looking for an adventure partner? Are you looking for a four-legged companion to take hiking and running? Are you also looking for a furry friend that would be happy to lay on the couch with you and watch movies? Well, if that’s the case, look no further, Poe is your guy! Poe is a very handsome Dutch Shepherd. He is about two years old, best guess, and weighs about 75 pounds. Poe has a beautiful brindle coat and soft eyes. Poe had a rough start to his life. It took him several months to get over the neglect he has suffered, but he has fully rebounded. Poe is a working line dog! He is rather intense and is always looking for something to do. He is super smart and very eager to engage with his person. He has a lot of characteristics that are very common to the breed, so preference will be given to individuals with experience with such shepherds. Poe is a “leaner” and a “hugger”. He will sit beside you and lean into you while looking up at you, and a lot of times, he will jump up and wrap his paws around you. Poe is exceptionally food motivated. He trains easily, love’s challenges (like tracking scattered kibble), and will stay very focused on you when there are treats involved. He really wants to engage with his people. He loves to play fetch! You will need two tennis balls because you have to have one to throw in order yo get him to release the one he has. Poe does very well with most dogs he meets. He gets along with both males and females. He can be a bit rough when playing, so he would probably do best with a medium or large dog friend. Cats are unknown, but he does have considerable prey drive so probably not a good candidate for a cat home. Poe is a really fun boy and so deserving of a home where he will be the center of attention. He rides well in the car and is always eager to go on an adventure. He is a confident boy and does well in public. If you think he might be the one for you, come and meet him soon. This fun and unique boy will not be in the rescue very long.
