Story
Alpha is a bright, enthusiastic 2-year-old boy who meets life-and people-with full-body excitement. He loves greeting new friends so much that he sometimes jumps, but this boy is unbelievably smart and highly trainable, makingmanners work both fun and achievable. Alpha thrives in a home that can give him plenty of physical exercise and mental enrichment to help him channel that big brain and big heart into being the best companion he can be.Shelter life has been frustrating for him, so he may bark in his kennel and pull when heading out for walks. With consistency and guidance, he'll shine-he's eager to learn and wants to get it right.Originally labeled "no dogs," Alpha surprised us in a recent playgroup session. After a careful intro, he turned into a goofy, playful buddy with a friendly, confident female and handled her corrections beautifully. But caution should stillbe applied when being introduced to other dogs. With the right match and an experienced adopter, Alpha has shown that he is capable of having doggy friends. If you're interested in learning more about him, please reach out to our volunteer matchmakers at wcac.matchmaker@gmail.com with the subject line "Alpha, 265337".He is up to date on vaccinations, flea/tick and heartworm prevention, is microchipped, and will be neutered prior to going home. If you have cats, we recommend slow introductions over time. If you have children in your home, werecommend supervision between animals and children at all times. Primary Color: Black Brown Weight: 73 Age: 2yrs 0mths 4wks

Story
Meet Derwood, a sweet and gentle 6-year-old who came in as a stray and was never reclaimed. This calm, beautiful boy is ready to be someone's loyal sidekick. He leans in for scratches, takes treats with the softest mouth, and loves nothing more than exploring new scents. Derwood gets excited when it's time to leave his kennel-he's eager for adventure-but once outside, he's wonderfully easy to walk. The only challenge comes when it's time to head back in; he'll politely (and hilariously) try to guide you in a different direction. With his charm and steady sweetness, Derwood is ready to brighten someone's life.Although he is heartworm positive, it is treatable and not contagious. Friends of Wake County Animal Center has provided a $600 sponsorship to help cover the cost of treatment. He is up to date on vaccinations, flea/tick and heartworm prevention, is microchipped, and will be neutered prior to going home. If you have cats, we recommend slow introductions over time. Story
Ace is a wonderful dog who is gentle, well-trained, and affectionate toward all living creatures. He loves the outdoors, does exceptionally well off-leash, and always stays close to his family, even on camping trips. Unfortunately, our new baby girl has developed allergies, which means we must keep her separated from Ace. Because he is such a loving and social dog, it has become difficult to keep him apart from the family without isolating him, and that isn’t the life he deserves. Ace truly belongs at the heart of a home. For our daughter’s health and for Ace’s well-being, we are desperately seeking a new, loving home where he can receive the affection, closeness, and companionship he thrives on.
