Story
~DOB: 10/1/2025 Weight: 63 lbs Energy level: Moderate-High Overall drive: High Location: Los Angeles, CA Meet Poppy; the kind of dog who doesn’t just join your life… she becomes your next great adventure! Beautiful, athletic, and brilliantly intelligent, Poppy is a young working dog with a huge heart and an even bigger personality. She’s always thinking, always learning, and always ready for the next challenge. Whether she’s chasing a flirt pole, mastering a new skill, or proudly carrying her favorite toy while asking for morning cuddles, Poppy brings enthusiasm and joy to every day. She has a wonderfully goofy side, too. Every evening she transforms into a fearless bug hunter, stalking tiny insects with the intensity of a miniature wild predator. When the excitement is over, she’ll happily settle nearby with a chew and occasionally give you sweet little “cobbing” nibbles to show her affection. Poppy is house trained, crate trained, eager to learn, and highly motivated by toys, food, and interactive play. She already knows several basic commands and continues to make excellent progress with loose-leash walking, impulse control, and settling around distractions. She thrives with structure, consistency, and a person who enjoys training as part of everyday life. Because she’s still an adolescent with strong working instincts, Poppy is looking for an experienced home that understands drive and arousal. She’ll do best with someone who enjoys hiking, dog sports, scent work, obedience, agility, or simply giving a talented dog meaningful outlets. Young children and small animals are not the right fit for her, but in the right hands, Poppy has all the ingredients to become an extraordinary lifelong partner. If you’ve been searching for a dog that will challenge you, make you laugh, and reward your dedication with unwavering loyalty, Poppy may just be your perfect match.

Story
Gunnar is a 4-year-old, 73-pound dog born in Montesano, Washington. He didn’t have the best start in life, his early years were spent living outdoors in a kennel run with his sister and with limited socialization but he has made wonderful progress since coming into our care 2.5 years ago.Gunnar has a moderate energy level and is pretty anxious at times. He is also very food oriented and enjoys being brushed, spending time with his people, snuggling, and having yard time to explore and burn off energy. He is kennel trained and currently lives with our two other dogs.Gunnar would do best in a home with a securely fenced yard and an adopter who can give him the time, patience, and attention he deserves. With the right person, Gunnar has the potential to be a loyal, loving, and devoted companion.Gunnar has also been recently neutered as well.

Story
Sasha has overcome an incredibly difficult past, arriving at PAWS severely underweight and suffering from significant hair loss. Despite everything she endured, her spirit still shines bright. She absolutely adores people and greets everyone with full-body wiggles, a happy tail, and endless enthusiasm. Like many enthusiastic dogs, Sasha is still learning how to manage her excitement. She can jump up during greetings, get all up in your face, and give off a bad first impression on her training skills. She also plays rough, sometimes accidentally nipping fingers or body slamming when she's having fun. There's never any ill intent, she simply gets carried away. She has made incredible progress with consistent redirection and structured play-and-train sessions and is eager to keep learning!Sasha is an active, intelligent girl who loves having a job to do. She knows many of her basic cues through both verbal commands and hand signals, enjoys learning new things, and has recently discovered a love for agility. Whether it's training, enrichment, or an outdoor adventure, Sasha thrives when both her body and mind stay busy.Sasha would do best in a home with older children who understand dog behavior and can help continue her training. She has learned to ignore cats while out on walks, though living with one may require slow introductions. She displays friendly signs towards other dogs but has a confident, dominant play style that may not be the right fit for every canine companion. There's so much more to Sasha than can fit into a short adoption profile. We'd love to share more about her journey, her personality, and all the little things that make her such a special dog. If you think Sasha might be the one for you, please reach out to our team and we'd be happy to tell you her full story. Please apply to adopt at: http://www.pawsgh.org
