Story
Hi, I’m Rio! 🐾 I’m an adventurous, playful boy who is still getting used to all of my new friends and this new world of freedom. So far, I’ve been loving going on walks, playing in the Freedom Fields dog park, and most of all - having a safe place to rest my head. Everything is still new to me, and I’m adjusting to this big change at my own pace. But I can’t wait to see what adventures are still ahead and hopefully find a family to share them with! ❤️ 📍 My Location: NOWATA, OK Please note: Third-party sites like PetFinder or Adopt-a-Pet may sometimes list multiple locations for the same animal. My correct and current location is the one listed above! Beagle Freedom Project facilitates out-of-state adoptions, provided the adopter can travel to the animal’s current location for pickup. If you’re interested in adopting me, please fill out an adoption application at https://bfp.org/adopt/ For questions, email the Beagle Freedom Project team at: adopt@bfp.org About Beagle Freedom Project: Beagle Freedom Project is the world’s leading organization for rescuing and rehoming animals used in experimental research. Story
Meet Canela A Beautiful, Loving Girl Ready for Her Forever Home Breed: Black Mouth Cur / Terrier Mix Gender: Female | DOB: July 23, 2023 | Age: 3 Years Weight: 39 lbs Good With: Dogs ✔️ | Kids ✔️ | Cats: Unknown Personality: ❤️ Loving | Friendly | Bright | Active Medical: ✔️ Vaccinations Up to Date | ✔️ Microchipped | Not Spayed Health: Healthy & Adoption-Ready Location: Los Angeles, California Transportation: Ozzie and Friends Rescue coordinates safe transportation for approved adopters throughout the United States. ❤️ Personality & Breed Information Canela is a beautiful 3-year-old Black Mouth Cur / Terrier mix weighing 39 pounds. She's a young adult with a wonderful combination of companionship, curiosity, and energy, and she's ready for a family who will make her a true part of their everyday life. Black Mouth Curs are often known for being intelligent, loyal, athletic, confident, and devoted to their families, while Terriers may bring curiosity, playfulness, and plenty of personality. As a mix, Canela may share some of these traits and will benefit from a home that keeps both her body and mind engaged. At three years old, Canela is past the tiny puppy stage but is still a young dog with plenty of enthusiasm for walks, playtime, adventures, and learning new things. She would benefit from daily exercise, mental enrichment, positive-reinforcement training, and plenty of quality time with her people. Most of all, Canela is looking for the stability and love of a permanent home where she can build a lasting bond with her family. Training, Adjustment & What to Expect Moving into a new home is a major transition for any rescue dog, and Canela should be given time to understand her new environment and routine. Rescue dogs may arrive with basic training at best, so adopters should be prepared to continue working on house manners as needed, leash skills, basic commands, recall, calm greetings, and household boundaries. Black Mouth Cur and Terrier mixes can be intelligent and engaged learners. Positive reinforcement, consistency, structure, and patience will help Canela understand what is expected of her while strengthening the bond she develops with her new family. The 3-3-3 Rule 3 Days to decompress and begin feeling safe 3 Weeks to understand her new household routine 3 Months to fully settle in, build trust, and feel at home These are guidelines rather than deadlines. Every dog adjusts differently, and Canela should be allowed to settle in at her own pace. Owner Responsibilities & Veterinary Care Canela is healthy, microchipped, and up to date on her vaccinations. She is not currently spayed. Her adopter should discuss spaying and appropriate timing with a veterinarian and review her available medical records to determine whether any additional preventive care is needed. Her ongoing care should include routine veterinary examinations, recommended vaccine boosters, flea and parasite prevention, dental care, quality nutrition, healthy weight management, grooming, nail care, appropriate exercise, and veterinary treatment whenever necessary. Adoption Information If you are interested in adopting Canela, please complete an adoption application: https://www.ozzieandfriendsrescue.org/adoptions Ozzie and Friends Rescue is a Los Angeles-based nonprofit dedicated to rescuing dogs in need and helping them find safe, loving forever homes. While based in Southern California, we coordinate safe transportation for approved adopters throughout the United States. Our goal is to give every dog the best possible chance of finding the right family and a home where they will be loved and cared for throughout their life. Adopting Canela means committing to her training, veterinary care, exercise, safety, companionship, and happiness throughout her life. Canela is healthy, ready for adoption, and waiting for the most important thing we can't provide on a medical chart—a family of her own. She has years of walks, adventures, companionship, and love ahead of her. Now she just needs someone to share them with.October 7, 2026, 10:25 am

Meet Honey Sweet as Her Name—Honey Is a Loving, Playful Girl Ready for Her Forever Home ❤️ Breed: Feist / Terrier Mix Gender: Female | Age: 12/21/2025 | Weight/Size: 25 lbs (Medium) Good With: Dogs ✔️ | Cats ✔️ | Kids ✔️ Personality: ❤️ Loving | Affectionate | Playful | ☀️ Happy | ⚡ Active Training: ✔️ House-Trained | ✔️ Crate-Trained | Comfortable Riding in the Car Medical: ✔️ Spayed | ✔️ Fully Vaccinated | ✔️ Healthy & Adoption-Ready | Microchip Status: Not Provided Location: Los Angeles, California Transportation: Ozzie and Friends Rescue coordinates safe transportation for approved adopters throughout the United States. ❤️ Personality, Breed Information & Honey's Story Honey truly lives up to her name. She's an incredibly loving and affectionate young girl with a happy personality and a playful spirit that makes her a joy to have around. At eight months old, Honey is still a young dog with plenty of puppy enthusiasm. She absolutely loves to play and has the energy to keep up with an active family. Walks, games, toys, exploring, and playtime with other dogs are all great ways for her to stay busy and happy. But Honey isn't all go, go, go. Underneath that playful energy is a very affectionate girl who loves connecting with her people. She enjoys attention and companionship and wants to be included as part of the family. Honey is also wonderfully social. She's great with other dogs and friendly with cats, giving her the potential to fit beautifully into a multi-pet household with appropriate introductions. And this smart girl already has some very useful skills! Honey is house-trained and crate-trained. She can relax calmly in her crate for several hours when needed, which can make the transition into a new household much easier. She's also comfortable riding in the car, making her a great candidate for a family that wants a dog who can come along for outings and adventures. As a Feist / Terrier Mix, Honey may share many of the qualities associated with these bright, active little working dogs. Feists and Terriers tend to be intelligent, curious, energetic, and devoted to their people. They enjoy having something to do and benefit from a combination of physical activity and mental stimulation. Honey would thrive with a family that provides: Plenty of affection and companionship Daily walks and regular exercise Lots of interactive play Continued positive reinforcement training Toys, puzzles, and mental enrichment Opportunities to socialize with friendly dogs A consistent household routine Continued reinforcement of her crate and house training Adventures and car rides A safe indoor home where she's included as part of the family A lifelong commitment Honey already has so many qualities families hope to find in a young dog—she's loving, social, playful, house-trained, crate-trained, dog-friendly, cat-friendly, and comfortable in the car. Now she just needs somewhere permanent to call home. Training, Adjustment & What to Expect Honey already has an excellent foundation. Being both house-trained and crate-trained at eight months old is a great start, but she's still young and will benefit from continued training as she moves through adolescence. Even previously house-trained dogs can have occasional accidents when adjusting to a completely new environment, so her adopter should give her time to learn the new household schedule. Please remember the 3-3-3 Rule: 3 Days to decompress and begin feeling safe 3 Weeks to understand her new household routine 3 Months to settle in, build trust, and truly feel at home Honey's energy will need healthy outlets. Daily walks, interactive games, training exercises, sniffing opportunities, puzzle toys, and appropriate play with other dogs can help keep her physically and mentally fulfilled. Her crate should continue to be treated as a safe, positive space, never as punishment. Although Honey can remain calmly crated for several hours, she is an active young dog who needs plenty of exercise, interaction, and companionship when her family is home. Positive reinforcement and consistency will help Honey build on the wonderful foundation she already has. Owner Responsibilities & Veterinary Care Honey is already spayed and fully vaccinated, giving her a great start toward a healthy adult life. Her future family should continue providing: Routine veterinary wellness examinations Vaccinations and boosters as recommended by her veterinarian Flea, tick, heartworm, and parasite prevention Routine dental care A nutritious diet appropriate for her age and activity level Healthy weight management Daily physical exercise Mental stimulation and enrichment Continued positive reinforcement training Continued safe socialization Veterinary care whenever illness or injury occurs A safe, comfortable indoor home At only eight months old, Honey still has some growing and maturing ahead of her. Consistent veterinary care, proper nutrition, regular exercise, and continued training will help her develop into a happy and healthy adult. Adoption Information If you are interested in adopting Honey, please complete an adoption application at: https://www.ozzieandfriendsrescue.org/adoptions Thank you for considering adoption through Ozzie and Friends Rescue, a Los Angeles-based nonprofit dedicated to giving deserving dogs the opportunity to find safe, loving, permanent homes. Although we are based in Los Angeles, California, we proudly coordinate safe and reliable transportation for approved adopters throughout the United States. Honey is sweet by name and sweet by nature. She's playful enough for adventures, affectionate enough for cuddle time, and already has an amazing foundation for family life. Whether she's playing with another dog, hanging out with a cat, hopping in the car for an adventure, or relaxing at home with her people, Honey is ready to be someone's very best friend. All she's missing is forever. ❤️October 7, 2026, 10:25 am

Meet Cosmo D DOB: May 13, 2025 Weight: 30 lbs Breed: Black Mouth Cur / Terrier Mix Neutered (Fixed) Vaccinated Microchipped Healthy & Adoption-Ready Cosmo D is a deeply loving, loyal boy who is just looking for someone willing to truly be there for him. He was returned through no fault of his own—simply because his previous home was not ready to commit to his needs. Despite that, Cosmo continues to love wholeheartedly, showing just how special and devoted he truly is. Personality Cosmo is affectionate, loyal, and very people-focused. He forms strong bonds and thrives on connection. He enjoys being close, following his person, and feeling part of a home. He is already trained and well-mannered, making him a wonderful companion with a solid foundation. Breed Info As a Black Mouth Cur / Terrier mix, Cosmo brings: Loyalty and strong attachment to his people Intelligence and responsiveness A loving, devoted nature This mix creates a dog who is deeply connected and eager to be part of a family, thriving with companionship and engagement. Ideal Home Cosmo would do best in a home where someone is present most of the time or willing to work with him through his separation anxiety. He needs a patient, understanding adopter who sees his attachment not as a burden, but as a reflection of how deeply he loves. Owner Responsibilities Cosmo will need: Consistent routine and structure Gradual training to build confidence when alone Patience and positive reinforcement to help him feel secure Daily exercise and engagement His adopter should be committed to working through separation anxiety, which may include training, enrichment, and possibly guidance from a professional trainer if needed.
