Gretta is ready for her second chance. This sweet girl was found as a stray near Saviers Market in Oxnard with her daughter Clara. A good Samaritan spotted them and, worried they might get run over in the street, took them in. They fostered the pair and posted them on Nextdoor and the Ring app in hopes of finding their owner. Sadly, no one came forward. We believe they may have been dumped. After the stray hold was complete, Shelter Hope took them in. Gretta is a charming 5-year-old, 16 lb Chihuahua mix with a beautiful smile. She adores toys and enjoys running and playing. Gretta is great with other dogs, and according to her foster, seems to be potty trained too! She can be nervous and guarded initially, but we have seen her warm up quickly! She jumps into our laps and loves attention. Affectionate, clever, and athletic, Gretta would be a great addition to an active household that enjoys outdoor adventures and lots of playtime. Frida was found as a stray with her one-week-old puppy and brought to the Downey Animal Shelter. With no microchip and no one coming to claim her, Shelter Hope took her in and placed her in the safety of foster care, where she lovingly raised her pup like the devoted mama she is. Now it’s Frida’s turn to shine! Frida is sweet, observant, and incredibly affectionate. She absolutely adores being in your arms and will happily leap into them—she’s quite the little jumper! This sweet boy sadly came from a home where his owners didn’t provide the basic care of fixing their dogs, which led to an accidental litter of four puppies. With six dogs living in an apartment that only allowed two, they surrendered the entire litter to Shelter Hope. When Chip first arrived to Shelter Hope, he was understandably very shut down. His whole world was turned upside down. Now that he’s had some time to settle in and decompress, he’s become quite friendly and curious! Calm, gentle, and quiet, Chip is an introverted but loving and affectionate little dog. Once he warms up, he is super fun and playful too! He gets along well with other dogs and enjoys spending time with our staff!
