Story
Meet Susye — A Young Girl Ready for a Home of Her Own Sometimes the best dogs have the hardest beginnings. Susye’s second chance began when a Nashville Fire Department EMT realized that the homeless woman caring for her would not be leaving the hospital. He could not bear the thought of this young dog being left with nowhere to go, so he brought Susye home and made sure she was safe. For the past three months, Susye has been living with her firefighter foster dad and his four dogs. She has been a happy, peaceful addition to the family and has settled into home life beautifully. She is crate trained when needed, loves using the dog door, and enjoys spending time in the fenced backyard. Now fully vetted and spayed, Susye is turning 8 months old this month and is ready for a forever home with the stability she deserves. She weighs 43 pounds. We believe Susye may be a Feist, Rat Terrier, or Jack Russell Terrier mix, possibly with some herding breed influence. She is bright, active, affectionate, and eager to be part of whatever is happening. Like many young herding and terrier mixes, she will do best with regular exercise, engagement, and continued training. Although Susye adores her foster dog siblings, they are all older. Her foster dad cannot help but think she would especially love a home with a younger, playful dog companion who can match her energy and enjoy growing up alongside her. Her firefighter foster dad also works 12-hour shifts, and caring for five dogs has become more than he can reasonably maintain long-term. Susye is loved and safe, but this was always meant to be her stepping stone—not her final destination. She would thrive with a family that can give her companionship, consistency, playtime, and plenty of opportunities to use her smart young mind. A securely fenced yard would be wonderful, and another playful dog would be a big bonus. Susye has already experienced more uncertainty than any puppy should. Now she is ready for the part of her story where she belongs somewhere for good. ccrtennessee@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.September 1, 2026, 11:07 pm

Story
Meet one of the Dolly Parton Litter puppies! Mama and puppies came to JoJo's the day after the world lost Dolly Parton, so we named this litter in her memory. Sweet mama Dolly's neglectful owner did not get her spayed and she had a litter of 7 puppies. She and the puppies were in a terrible situation – tied up and many times not even within reach of food and water. Dolly, though, was an absolutely incredible mom to these puppies. When they came to us at 8 weeks old, they had never had puppy food yet – they were still nursing and sweet Dolly was letting them and still taking care of them weeks after she should have been able to start weaning. The puppies immediately gobbled up puppy food – they were more than ready to start eating – and Dolly was very happy to give up her mama role. Dolly is a sweet girl and is coming out of her shell now that she doesn't have to be guarding and protecting her puppies. The puppies are all adorable, well-nourished now, and got a clean bill of health from our vet when they got their first round of puppy shots. Considering the circumstances they came from, this is pretty amazing. Although we don't know what mama is, she is about 40 lbs and 4 years old. She has pointy ears and we're thinking maybe a Feist or small Shepherd mix based on size and appearance, but that is just a guess. We believe that Dad dog must have been a Labrador Retriever because that is what every single puppy looks like. At 8 weeks they all weigh right around 8 lbs, so are on target to be about 60 lb adult dogs. If you think you might want to give this sweet pup a home, please email jojosdogrescue@gmail.com and we will send you an application, or visit our website: www.jojosdoghouse.com and download one. Adoption fee is $250, which includes up-to-date vaccinations, parasite treatment, and microchip with lifetime registration. Please visit our Facebook page JoJo's DogHouse (non-profit) to learn more about us and see many of the dogs we have rescued. We hope you'll join JoJo's family of adopters!

Story
Ella is an 11-year-old Chihuahua who has been part of our family since she was a puppy. She is sweet, affectionate, and basically a little lap dog. She loves curling up on your lap, being close to her people, and if you let her, she’ll happily sleep with you at night. She has always been our little princess, is accustomed to being loved and spoiled, and gives plenty of affection in return. As Ella has gotten older, we believe she would be happiest in a quieter, calmer home, ideally with an adult or couple who can give her plenty of attention. Ella is house trained to use pee pads indoors rather than going outside. She generally uses them reliably when they’re kept clean and readily available, although she does have an occasional accident. This is a very difficult decision for us. It’s very important to find the right home where Ella will be safe, comfortable, loved, and spoiled for the years ahead.
