Meet Timmy Turner! Timmy Turner is a 1-year-old Chihuahua/Terrier mix (at least that's our best guess!) wrapped up in a tiny 7-pound package of scruffy cuteness. With his adorable wiry coat, oversized Chihuahua ears, expressive little face, and curious personality, Timmy looks like he walked straight out of a storybook. This little guy may be small, but he has a big personality and an even bigger sense of adventure. One of Timmy's favorite things is finding the highest spot in the room. If there's a couch, he'll be on the back of it. If there's a lap, he'll happily claim it. If there's a shoulder available, even better. His foster jokes that he acts a little bit like a cat, and honestly, they're not wrong. Timmy loves observing the world from above and keeping an eye on everything that's going on around him. While he may take a minute to assess new people and situations, he's a confident little explorer who likes to investigate the world at his own pace. He's not the type to immediately throw himself into every situation—instead, he likes to gather the facts first and then decide how he feels about things. We think that's pretty smart. In his foster home, Timmy enjoys being close to his people and is perfectly lap-sized for movie nights, work-from-home days, and cozy evenings on the couch. Once he's comfortable, he's a sweet companion who enjoys simply being near his favorite humans. Timmy has done well meeting dogs of all sizes, from fellow small scruffy pups to much larger dogs weighing 60–80 pounds. While he's not particularly interested in roughhousing or playgroups, he's polite, respectful, and knows how to coexist beautifully with other dogs. His ideal canine companion would be another calm, respectful dog who understands that personal space is important sometimes. Timmy also met a kitty friend and did very well. He was curious enough to investigate but respectful enough to move on when the cat wasn't interested. He free-roamed comfortably around the cat and mostly decided that the cat wasn't all that exciting. Because every home is different, we would still recommend a slow introduction and possibly an overnight trial for homes with resident cats, but Timmy showed all the signs we like to see. Timmy can live as an only dog or with other dogs. If he shares a home with canine friends, he should be fed separately since he prefers not to share meals. Fortunately, he's easy to manage and otherwise coexists well with other pets. His perfect home would be one that appreciates quirky little dogs, cozy couch snuggles, and a companion with a little bit of personality. Waffle County approaches life like someone who’s still deciding whether the world can be trusted, but he’s already pretty sure laps are a good idea. The fastest way to earn his approval isn’t with toys or treats. It’s sitting down. The moment a lap becomes available, Waffle County is ready to investigate whether there’s room for one small Chihuahua to settle in and stay awhile. For a dog who can be timid about new experiences, physical affection seems to make perfect sense to him. Being close to his people is where he feels most comfortable, and once he decides you’re part of his circle, he doesn’t see much reason to leave your side. Go watch Waffle County on YouTube, then come right back to read more! You’ll see a gentle little dog who prefers observation over participation. Watch him quietly take in the world around him, keep an eye on the neighborhood through the window, and happily soak up affection whenever it’s offered. One of the sweetest things about Waffle County is how naturally he gravitates toward people he trusts. Whether he’s sitting in a lap, leaning against someone on the couch, or snuggled into bed, you can see how much comfort he finds in companionship. Estimated to be around 5 years old and weighing approximately 11.5 pounds, Waffle County appears to be a Chihuahua mix, though as with all rescue dogs, his breed and age are simply our best educated guess. Waffle County has been living with his foster family since May of 2026 and has settled into a busy household that includes eight dogs total, three young children, and two adults. That’s a lot of activity for a little dog who naturally leans toward the cautious side, but Waffle County handles it with quiet grace. He’s friendly, just thoughtful about it. New situations can make him nervous, and he’s the kind of dog who prefers to assess things before jumping in with both paws. He does wonderfully on leash. He accepted it without any fuss and seemed much more comfortable having that connection and guidance. Waffle County has perfected the art of gentle communication. He’s not a loud dog by any means. Instead of demanding attention, he’ll offer soft whimpers or quiet barks when he needs something. If he’s ready to go outside, he’ll patiently wait by the door and, if necessary, add a polite scratch or two as a reminder that he’s already submitted his request. That quiet communication style extends to house training as well. Waffle County does wonderfully when kept on a regular schedule and has no issues staying accident-free when his routine is maintained. The only challenge is remembering to pay attention to his subtle requests. He assumes you’ll notice eventually. Despite living with seven other dogs, Waffle County isn’t particularly interested in making every dog his best friend right away. He takes time to warm up to new canine companions and occasionally joins in for a little play once he feels comfortable. But if we’re being honest, other dogs aren’t really the center of his world. People are. He loves his humans in a way that feels steady and sincere. During our time together, he willingly climbed into my lap, accepted being picked up without hesitation, and seemed happiest whenever he was physically close to someone. His foster describes him as a dog who truly loves his person. Every morning while he does floor stretches and workouts, Waffle County makes it his mission to provide encouragement in the form of enthusiastic kisses. Apparently, no exercise routine is complete without Chihuahua supervision. He currently lives with children ages 1, 3, and 6 and peacefully coexists with them. While he isn’t looking to join every game they invent, he’s comfortable sharing space and going about his day alongside them. The relationship is respectful and easy, which seems to suit Waffle County just fine. Nighttime may be his favorite part of the day. He absolutely loves sleeping in bed with his people and has a special talent for finding the coziest spot between them. At the same time, he’s respectful of household rules and settles quietly in his crate when asked. He doesn’t argue the point. He simply accepts it and goes to sleep. Waffle County isn’t much of a toy enthusiast and wasn’t especially interested in treats during his evaluation, though that may have had more to do with nerves than preference. What consistently captured his attention was affection. A kind voice, a warm lap, and a little reassurance seem to mean far more to him than any squeaky toy ever could. He also has one tiny quirk that never fails to make his foster laugh. When he’s in a hurry, he occasionally seems to forget that all four legs are available and will briefly scoot along while barely using one of his back legs. There’s nothing wrong with him—he just appears to have his own unique approach to getting from Point A to Point B as efficiently as possible. Living with Waffle County feels like it would be less about excitement and more about companionship. He’s the dog watching birds through the window while you drink your morning coffee. The little shadow waiting patiently by the door. The workout buddy handing out kisses during stretches. The warm body curled up between you at bedtime. The quiet reminder that some of life’s best relationships don’t arrive with a lot of fanfare. Waffle County would likely appreciate a family that understands that confidence doesn’t always arrive immediately. Give him a little time, a comfortable lap, and a predictable routine, and he’ll show you just how sweet he can be.
