When our weekend kennel attendant walked in and saw our newest intake, with his luscious locks, pretty face, and petite collie body, she immediately decided he had to be named PollyPocket, after the tiny 1989 dolls. It wasn't until later that she realized PollyPocket wasn't a girl! Now, Mr. PollyPocket is embracing his name, and we're pretty sure it's going to help him stand out to the perfect adopter. Mr. PollyPocket is a 6-month-old, 34-pound Border Collie/Flat-coated Retriever mix. We know his mother is a red doodle, which likely explains the beautiful burnt-orange coloring on his ears. We're still getting to know this darling boy, but one thing is already certain: he has our veterinary technician's seal of approval... and that's a pretty big deal around here. So far, Mr. PollyPocket appears to be housetrained and has done well greeting other dogs through the play yard fences. Even while adjusting to shelter life, he hasn't met a stranger. If his future family has a cat (or several!), we'll be happy to complete a cat test before he heads home. If you've been searching for a dog with the look of a larger herding breed packed into a fun-sized body, plus a friendly personality and a quirky story to match, Mr. PollyPocket might just be your perfect fit. Story
Jovie is a 4-year-old Lab/Greyhound mix that we adopted as a puppy from the Louisville ASPCA. She was originally rescued from the floods in Eastern Kentucky, and she’s been a loved part of our family ever since. Over the last few years our lives have changed a lot — we welcomed a baby, are expecting another soon, and recently relocated. With everything going on, we’ve realized that Jovie needs more exercise, engagement, and one-on-one attention than we’re able to give her right now, and we want to find her a home where she can truly thrive. Jovie is very smart, affectionate, and incredibly kind with people; she's been great with our child. She has a lot of energy and does best when mentally and physically engaged. Like many smart dogs, she can become anxious or reactive when bored or overstimulated, so she would do best with an experienced owner who can give her consistent activity and structure.
