Story
What adorable freckles Birdie has, too cute! She is estimated to be about a year old and weighs 31 pounds. Meet Birdie, a gorgeous young girl hoping to find a family to love. This sweetie is so connecting, loving and just wants to please you. She has the sweetest soft full body wag all the time that will just melt your heart. She seems to walk nicely on a leash so far, making her the perfect friend for strolls and exploring together. Birdie is a bit on the underconfident and submissive side though and is looking for a leader to guide her with patience and understanding. A family that can help build her confidence would be perfect. She will need a home where any children are at least 13 years old with her low confidence. Birdie would love it if you came to meet her, she is going to make a wonderful addition to some lucky family. If you are interested in Birdie and are at least 21 years old, please come to our kennel during business hours, make an appointment, or fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*

Story
This handsome boy is Stan Lee Stan Lee is a super sweet retriever mix who was born around 9/10/24. He is the perfect age, past a lot of the puppy behaviors but still young enough to have a long life ahead of her. He will become the bestest friend you’ll ever have, if only you give him the chance. He’s desperately searching for a forever home, full of playfulness, snuggles, and loads of love. * He is super friendly * He is heartworm negative * He weighs about 62 pounds * He is UTD on his vaccines and preventatives * He simply can’t wait to meet YOU!! Are you looking for a loyal companion to fit right in with your family? Stan Lee is your guy! All he asks for is a stable home with a loving family. He simply needs someone to open their home to him so he can steal their heart. Could you be that someone? Currently this sweet baby is with our rescue, The Artemis Project, in Arkansas. We DO, however, transport monthly to the metro Detroit area of MI. Because we’re able to transport, we ARE able to accept adoption applications directly from residents of MI. Why do we transport? Because animal overpopulation is severe in our region, and stray and unwanted dogs have very little chance of finding a home here. These babies are, however, at a high risk of being neglected, abused, abandoned, euthanized or even shot (it’s “the way things are done” for some people down here). YOU are truly one of the only safe and happy endings for the lucky ones we are able to rescue. Upon approval of your adoption application, we will then transport your new furbaby to you in the metro Detroit area for just a small travel expense fee of $50 in addition to the adoption fee. MICHIGAN RESIDENTS—>PLEASE CLICK THE LINK BELOW TO FILL OUT THE ADOPTION APPLICATION: https://new.shelterluv.com/form/other/TAP/2450-michigan-adoption Before we can change your new furbaby’s status from "adoptable" to "adoption pending," the $50 transport fee must be paid to secure the adoption. At that time, we will stop accepting applications. The entire adoption fee must be paid prior to the transport in order to ensure your new baby has a spot on the transport. Thank you SO MUCH for giving a homeless Arkansas pup a chance at a real life with a family of their very own!

Story
Meet Buddy – Looking for a Home to Call His Own Again ❤️ Buddy is a 6-year-old giant breed mix whose world was recently turned upside down when his beloved owner passed away. Through no fault of his own, he has found himself searching for a new family and a new place to belong. Despite the changes and uncertainty in his life, Buddy has remained an incredibly sweet and gentle soul. He has shown himself to be friendly and appears to get along well with other dogs. More than anything, he seems to be missing the comfort and stability of a home environment. Buddy has been freshly groomed, is medically complete, and is ready to start the next chapter of his life. What he needs now is a family willing to open their hearts and give him the love, security, and companionship he once knew. This handsome boy isn't asking for much—just a soft place to rest, people to love, and a home to call his own again. After losing everything familiar, Buddy deserves the chance to find comfort and happiness with a family who will cherish him. Could you be the one to help Buddy heal and show him that his best days are still ahead? He is ready and waiting for a second chance at forever. ❤️  We do not have a facility for you to visit. You are welcome to email ccrcdogs@ccrcdogs.com with specific questions, but please complete the online application, which can be found at www.ccrcdogs.com, to secure your position in line for one of our dogs. You can also find a description of our process on that same page. Puppies will not be available to be seen until their 10-day quarantine has passed. Our adoption fees are listed on our website and cover the cost of the spay/neuter, age-appropriate shots and tests, medications to bring the dog to full health, and a free visit with one of our approved vets after adoption. Most dogs at CCRC are obtained from animal control centers so there is often very little known about their history or current habits. You can always expect to do some training, regardless of whether you adopt a dog or a puppy, including crate training, house training, and basic manners. CCRC has a variety of materials and resources to assist you with this, and we have trainers who will offer free phone/email support. June 6, 2026, 7:55 am
