Meet Axel — a 3-year-old Labrador mix with a heart full of love.Axel has come a long way since arriving at Macomb County Animal Control, and he’s ready to find the family he’s been waiting for. These days, Axel is a happy, playful boy who absolutely loves spending time with his people. He thrives on attention and affection and will gladly soak up all the pets and belly rubs you’re willing to give. One of Axel’s favorite things is being outside. Whether he’s going for a walk, exploring new smells, or running around the yard, he’s always up for an adventure. He’s also very treat-motivated, which makes him a great candidate for continued training and bonding with his future family.Axel enjoys playing with other dogs and would likely do well with a canine companion who can match his playful energy. While Axel is doing great with staff and volunteers, shelter life is starting to get a little tough for him. He’s ready for a home of his own where he can stretch his legs, relax, and be part of a family. The good news? Axel’s adoption fee is SPONSORED!If you’re looking for a loyal, fun-loving companion who enjoys treats, outdoor adventures, and plenty of affection, Axel might just be your perfect match. If you are interested in adopting Axel or another homeless pet at Macomb County Animal Control, walk-in adoption hours are Monday–Friday from 10am–4pm.

Story
Kibbles is a lovable 3-year-old Lab mix with a big heart and an even bigger personality! This handsome boy is already neutered and ready to find his forever home after his previous owner was no longer able to care for him.Kibbles is a smart pup who already knows how to sit—especially when treats are involved! He walks nicely on a leash, making him a great companion for daily strolls or neighborhood adventures. While he has a solid foundation, Kibbles would benefit from some continued training, as he tends to get a little too enthusiastic and may jump up to greet people when he’s excited. If you’re looking for a social and playful dog, Kibbles is your guy. He gets along well with other dogs and absolutely loves having space to run and play. One of his favorite things to do is zoom around the yard with a toy proudly carried in his mouth—it’s guaranteed to make you smile!Kibbles would thrive in an active home with a family who can match his energy and provide plenty of exercise, playtime, and continued guidance. In return, he’ll give you endless love, laughter, and loyal companionship. If you`re ready for a fun-loving, energetic pup to join your life, Kibbles is waiting to meet you!If you are interested in adopting me or another homeless pet at Macomb County Animal Control, walk-in adoption hours are Monday-Friday from 10am-4pm.My adoption fee is sponsored

Story
We adopted him as a puppy, and he just turned 5. He is house-trained, very smart, and incredibly loyal. He has been a loving part of our family and is especially gentle and patient with our young daughter. He also lives with his littermate brother and does well with him. A few years ago, he was attacked by another dog, and since then he has developed fear-based reactivity toward strangers and can be very protective of his home and yard. Because of this, he needs a calm, structured environment with limited unfamiliar visitors. Inside the home, with people he knows, he is affectionate, cuddly, and sweet. We are looking for an experienced owner who understands reactive dogs and can provide consistency and a secure environment, ideally with a fenced yard.
