Meet Bart! Bart is a 3-year-old Flat-Coated Retriever (62 lbs) who is up to date on all vaccines and currently working on building confidence through training. He has a sensitive nature and can be unsure of new people at first, so slow, structured introductions are essential for him to feel safe. While he does well with dogs, we are looking for a home where he will be your only puppy love. Because of this, Bart is looking for an *experienced* adopter who is committed to participating in training sessions before bringing him home, so he can build trust gradually. His trainers will also support the transition to set both Bart and his adopter up for success. Bart would do best in a calm, suburban or country home with adults only. Once he feels comfortable, this fella is incredibly loyal and forms a strong bond with his person. With patience, consistency, and continued training, he will make a deeply rewarding companion. This sweet flat-coated retriever mix, Percy, (female) is apx. 3 y/o and 70 lbs. She was found wandering in the community in one of the high kill southern states, and a good Samaritan took her in to foster her rather than send her to a kill shelter. However, the foster family fell on hard times and she came up to another foster family in NJ. The current foster mom and dad are older with some health and mobility issues and since they do not have a fenced yard, she must be exclusively leash walked. This has proven to be challenging for them as she is a big, strong girl who is working on her leash walking skills. Percy is a sweet, loving, affectionate, obedient girl! She has lived with a toddler so she is fine around small children. She has not had a lot of experience with other dogs so she would probably do best as the solo pup in the home (but we believe she has the potential to acclimate to other dogs who are smaller than her and very calm and non-threatening based on recent introductions). As a rescue , We do not euthanize dogs but dogs that are listed as URGENT are still waiting to be saved from animal control and they do euthanise. We can only save them when space is available or have an adopter Meet Athena! Athena is a sweet fluffy girl who is around 12 weeks old. She weighs 18#s and super sweet! She does have something wrong with her rear leg, she’s been to the vet for x rays and it’s an old break, it’s starting to fuse, she will put weight on occasionally but usually doesn’t. The vet recommended a wait and see approach, at her age she may use it more as it heals more or it could require amputation, we can do that here prior to adoption. She doesn’t let it slow her down at all.

She is a happy dog with people but something of a bossypants with other dogs, so Daisy would do better as an only dog. She is about 10 years old and still spry and healthy; she loves to go outside and walks well on the leash. She is house-trained and knows "sit", "lie down", and "come" commands. Daisy is a city girl who came from Brooklyn, where her owner couldn't take care of her due to illness. She weighs 60 lbs. and is no longer interested in toys or chewing. Usually quiet at home, she will bark to alert her family to the presence of others, but enjoys meeting people. She loves our neighbor's kids and they love her. They are older elementary and middle school age….I haven't had a chance to see how she is with younger children. Daisy wants to be the only dog in her home, she likes seeing other dogs outdoors. At her foster home she has gotten used to living with a cat.She also just stares at us if she wants something. She has such cute eyes! If you want a dog to snuggle with on the couch, or to just hang out while she sleeps on her dog bed, Daisy is the dog for you.
