Story
Lucy is a very special dog. She is 2 and sweet and affectionate and sensitive. She loves so deeply and needs a home with someone who will adore her for the wonderful dog she is. I adopted Lucy to become my service dog. She was staying with a trainer in Wisconsin when I adopted her, but my health took a turn for the worse and continuing her training has become too difficult for me while I'm struggling. I believe she would really enjoy living in a quiet neighborhood with a yard if possible. She is good with dogs when introduced calmly. She has a bit of separation anxiety sometimes, but she is so loving and lovable and just deserves a home that is experienced with dogs and can help continue her training whether it is related to service dog work or not. So far she already knows deep pressure therapy and many other smaller skills. Lucy is such a sweetheart and I just hope to find her a long term home that is a better fit for her. Please feel free to reach out if you are interested.

Story
Saylor is the sweetest pup you’ve been looking for! Saylor is a little over a year old, about 45-50 pounds and she is beyond sweet. She is currently living in a foster home and her host family agrees she’s amazing. According to her family “Saylor is one of the gentlest souls I've met!” Saylor spends her days going for long walks and is great on the leash, you’ll find her nose to the ground sniffing everything. She is very playful; Saylor enjoys playing fetch and loves to play with other dogs. She will also chew on her bone and occupy herself until she takes a nap usually cuddling with her bone. Saylor does not display food concerns and will let the humans eat in peace under the table. This pup has a quiet sweet disposition with a medium energy level. When she’s outside, Saylor will get the zoomies but her favorite activity is to be inside cuddling up to her people - snuggle bug and tummy rub enthusiast are understatements! Saylor is good with other dogs and she seems to be good with cats. This smart pup sleeps through the night without having accidents and she knows to ring the bell when she wants to go out. Saylor also knows the commands sit, leave it, come, no and she’s working on expanding her vocabulary….down, play, touch, dropt it, settle, heel. She’s a true people pleaser and is eager to learn. When she sleeps on her doggie bed, she gets in the silliest positions, Saylor must have been a contortionist in another life. Saylor is not a vocal dog and hardly barks, but when she’s excited you will know with her trill, it almost sounds like she’s singing! Saylor and her puppies were living in NC under a horrible neglect situation. According to the shelter, Saylor was starved before giving birth to 10 beautiful puppies. Saylor should have weight 45-50 pounds but she was less than 35 pounds while nursing her puppies. Her owners contacted the shelter and threatened to shoot Saylor and the puppies if the shelter didn't take them. Thankfully the shelter was able to step in and save Saylor and her puppies. The shelter contacted FHDR directly and told us their story, how could we say no? Transportation arrangements for them to come to NJ to live in foster homes and start living their best lives. Despite the rough start Saylor was given, she’s truly the sweetest dog and deserves nothing but love and cuddles. If you have a furever home for this pet, please e-mail Furever Home Dog Rescue at FureverHomeDogRescue@gmail.com and request an adoption application. Story
Crew is THE BEST! Born on September 28, 2023 Crew is beyond adorable with his white and tan coat and stunning blue/grey eyes! Crew is dog and people friendly, sweet and playful. Crew spends his days going for walks (he walks nicely on the leash), going for car rides, playing with toys (interactive, squeaky and moving toys) and playing with other dogs. His foster family says Crew is a big mush and he loves to greet people! When he sees people on walks, he will make this cute noise until people come over to meet him – just call him the mayor! Crew thoroughly enjoys playing with toys and plays fetch like a champ. Conversations with Crew are hilarious; when you talk to him, he sits and just look up at you so deeply as if he understands everything you are saying. His foster family has nicknamed him “Smooshie” for good reason, he loves belly or chest rubs, and is a professional snuggler. His favorite spot on the couch is sitting behind someone directly in the sun. Crew is a smart puppy who already knows the commands sit, paw, lay down and no, come, wait, drop it and leave it. He is doing fabulous with housetraining and he sleeps through the night without having accidents. Crew has so much love and cuddles to offer. You will love him! FHDR saved Crew from an overpopulated shelter in NC and he is now living in a foster home in NJ. Story
Hi, my name is Moe! If you are looking for a special dog, you are barking up the right tree! What makes me special is that life started out a little shaky for me and has left me more nervous and scared than the average dog. With time, understanding, patience, and building trust I will open up and be the best companion you could want! As the saying goes, I stick to the 3’s. I need 3 days to decompress, 3 weeks of a consistent routine and time to learn it & 3 months to start feeling at home. At first, I am more comfortable with other dogs and people really scare me, so I would do best with an outgoing friendly dog in the house to show me how to feel comfortable and confident. As time goes on, I get more used to humans but would do best in a single-person home or just a couple (too many people or a lot of children will be too much for me). I like my kennel and my safe dark space. I will come around and hang out more when I trust it is safe. I am kennel trained and working on being better with the leash. If you are looking for an amazing but special dog who needs a little bit of a calmer lifestyle, I am your man!!!! Email your phone number to rockcityrescue@gmail.com for more info! Story
Hi my name is Curly and I have a great story to tell. I am a good boy that’s shy and unsure at first. People, car rides, and loud noises scare me. So I need a home that is quiet and 1-2 people at most would be best. I do great with other dogs, they bring me out of my shell. I know I’m not for everyone but I am the right one for the special person, who can work with me and go at my slow pace, who won’t get frustrated that the world is sometimes scary to me and I need time and help figuring it out. I really want to be loved and give you love, it will just take time, trust, and understanding. I am kennel trained, house trained, and like the backyard. Leash walks are not my favorite but I am working on that. Since I am scared, I like to be able to go in and out of my kennel when I am scared or just feel like it. If you want a special dog that’s not like everyone else, but will always hold a special place in your heart…. I am your boy! I have been around dogs and cats with no issues. I've also been around kids, but I prefer to keep to myself when little ones are around. I'm also crate and housetrained, neutered, heartworm negative, and have age-appropriate vaccinations!  If you're interested in adopting, please email your phone number to rockcityrescue@gmail.comFebruary 14, 2024, 7:33 am

Story
PRINCE is a happy, playful, loving one-year-old Lab mix looking for a family to go on adventures together. This boy is an all around great dog! Prince is dog friendly with all dogs - male/female, big/small. A doggie playmate in his forever home would be ideal. He would be a great hiking or running companion or a potential agility training candidate if that interested his people. Prince would love a home with school age children or older to play in the yard with him. They would be great buddies. He enjoys playing tug of war, fetch, keep away, chase and being in the water. He loves being pet, getting belly rubs and is an all around happy dog! Prince is housetrained & crate trained. He is a smart, very trainable boy who has already learned basic commands "sit, stay, come, kennel" and would love to learn more.  Treat motivated boy. Being a puppy, he still needs chew bones, exercise and positive direction - he wants to please, so that's easy! Prince also rides well in the car. He sleeps through the night in his own bed. He's not a big barker, but will let you know when he needs to go out to potty or play in the yard. He has not been cat tested, so he will not be adopted to a home with cats.  Only homes with a fully fenced yard will be considered.  Since Prince is still a puppy, we would like to place him in a family who will continue his training so he will be set up for success. Prince is 45 lbs, neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, including rabies, heartworm negative and current on prevention.  If you are interested in adopting Prince, please email mkpeinado@yahoo.com. His adoption fee is $300 and transport fee is $250. NOTE: This pet is being shared by NorthStar Pet Rescue on behalf of another organization or individual and is not a NorthStar Pet Rescue dog. Story
Freya is the sweetest girl. She loves playing outside and curling up next to her humans on the couch. She’s proven herself friendly with our other dogs, cats, rabbits, and even a bearded dragon. Though sometimes she wants to play when they don’t, so she should be supervised. Freya does have some anxiety. Unexpected noises such as fireworks or something falling upstairs scares her. She just needs extra reassurance or cuddles. CBD drops also help immensely. Our family was recently forced to move from a house with a fenced yard to a loud apartment. While she has adapted to the noises, Freya needs more outdoor time than we can provide. Freya is most comfortable outside. She loves going on walks on a leash and running and playing off leash. We’re looking for a home who can give Freya the outdoor time she needs and is willing to give her extra affection and reassurance during the adjustment period.
