Story
Saylor is the sweetest pup you’ve been looking for! Saylor is a little over a year old, about 45-50 pounds and she is beyond sweet. She is currently living in a foster home and her host family agrees she’s amazing. According to her family “Saylor is one of the gentlest souls I've met!” Saylor spends her days going for long walks and is great on the leash, you’ll find her nose to the ground sniffing everything. She is very playful; Saylor enjoys playing fetch and loves to play with other dogs. She will also chew on her bone and occupy herself until she takes a nap usually cuddling with her bone. Saylor does not display food concerns and will let the humans eat in peace under the table. This pup has a quiet sweet disposition with a medium energy level. When she’s outside, Saylor will get the zoomies but her favorite activity is to be inside cuddling up to her people - snuggle bug and tummy rub enthusiast are understatements! Saylor is good with other dogs and she seems to be good with cats. This smart pup sleeps through the night without having accidents and she knows to ring the bell when she wants to go out. Saylor also knows the commands sit, leave it, come, no and she’s working on expanding her vocabulary….down, play, touch, dropt it, settle, heel. She’s a true people pleaser and is eager to learn. When she sleeps on her doggie bed, she gets in the silliest positions, Saylor must have been a contortionist in another life. Saylor is not a vocal dog and hardly barks, but when she’s excited you will know with her trill, it almost sounds like she’s singing! Saylor and her puppies were living in NC under a horrible neglect situation. According to the shelter, Saylor was starved before giving birth to 10 beautiful puppies. Saylor should have weight 45-50 pounds but she was less than 35 pounds while nursing her puppies. Her owners contacted the shelter and threatened to shoot Saylor and the puppies if the shelter didn't take them. Thankfully the shelter was able to step in and save Saylor and her puppies. The shelter contacted FHDR directly and told us their story, how could we say no? Transportation arrangements for them to come to NJ to live in foster homes and start living their best lives. Despite the rough start Saylor was given, she’s truly the sweetest dog and deserves nothing but love and cuddles. If you have a furever home for this pet, please e-mail Furever Home Dog Rescue at FureverHomeDogRescue@gmail.com and request an adoption application. The breed and age of this pet is listed as is our best guess. We have no background info on who the mom and dad are. Please note we do not adopt puppies/dogs to homes where they will be left alone all day. We do not have a shelter facility you can visit. Our volunteers foster the dogs and pups in their homes once they have been vetted and transported here to NJ. Please read our homepage to read how the adoption process works. And, to read our many reviews - www.FureverHomeDogRescue.com. Thank you!

Story
Hi my name is Curly and I have a great story to tell. I am a good boy that’s shy and unsure at first. People, car rides, and loud noises scare me. So I need a home that is quiet and 1-2 people at most would be best. I do great with other dogs, they bring me out of my shell. I know I’m not for everyone but I am the right one for the special person, who can work with me and go at my slow pace, who won’t get frustrated that the world is sometimes scary to me and I need time and help figuring it out. I really want to be loved and give you love, it will just take time, trust, and understanding. I am kennel trained, house trained, and like the backyard. Leash walks are not my favorite but I am working on that. Since I am scared, I like to be able to go in and out of my kennel when I am scared or just feel like it. If you want a special dog that’s not like everyone else, but will always hold a special place in your heart…. I am your boy! I have been around dogs and cats with no issues. I've also been around kids, but I prefer to keep to myself when little ones are around. I'm also crate and housetrained, neutered, heartworm negative, and have age-appropriate vaccinations!  If you're interested in adopting, please email your phone number to rockcityrescue@gmail.comApril 4, 2024, 12:04 am

Story
Hi, my name is Moe! If you are looking for a special dog, you are barking up the right tree! What makes me special is that life started out a little shaky for me and has left me more nervous and scared than the average dog. With time, understanding, patience, and building trust I will open up and be the best companion you could want! As the saying goes, I stick to the 3’s. I need 3 days to decompress, 3 weeks of a consistent routine and time to learn it & 3 months to start feeling at home. At first, I am more comfortable with other dogs and people really scare me, so I would do best with an outgoing friendly dog in the house to show me how to feel comfortable and confident. As time goes on, I get more used to humans but would do best in a single-person home or just a couple (too many people or a lot of children will be too much for me). I like my kennel and my safe dark space. I will come around and hang out more when I trust it is safe. I am kennel trained and working on being better with the leash. If you are looking for an amazing but special dog who needs a little bit of a calmer lifestyle, I am your man!!!! Email your phone number to rockcityrescue@gmail.com for more info! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Baloo is a 4 year old purebred silver lab that was purchased from a breeder.  He is very affectionate but he needs to be the one who initiates it.  He loves to just sit and be pet, take a car ride and loves to hike and swim. &#226&#128&#139 Watch Baloo playing here . He has some special needs and life with lots of outdoor space such as a farm would be great for him. He will need a person with strong dog handling skills and big dog experience.   At this point, we feel that Baloo would do best as an only dog. While he does not react to other dogs outside of the home, he does not always like to share his indoor space with them. Baloo is loved and cherished within our rescue and will need a very special situation to succeed in any home. He is considered a special needs dog by us and will need to have special handling to succeed.  If you are interested submit an application at njshpetrescue.org.  * You must live within 90 minutes of Chester NJ to be considered as an in-person home visit is required for all adoptions.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 18, 2024, 4:11 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Nikki was surrendered to the shelter after being found as a stray. Sometimes there is no story and we don’t have one. What we do see is a happy, loving dog who is eager to please. She is a husky/lab/hound mix who is about a year and half old and 49 pounds. Nikki is a great walk on leash, great in the car and very smart. Nikki seems to have had some training because she knows touch and responds to a clicker. Her foster family reports that she is so very affectionate and loves her walks. Nikki has been very friendly with everyone she meets! She really is such a nice girl and so deserving of a loving family of her own. Nikki is looking for a walking buddy and a second chance - if you think it could be you - please fill out an application online at njshpetrescue.org  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 18, 2024, 4:11 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Nash is a handsome 4-year-old lab/coonhound mix that was found as a stray and when the shelter traced the chip the owner said he gave the dog away. They no longer wanted him. Nash waited but no one came for him. Nash is a big boy at about 70 pounds but he is gentle and sweet. He passed all the temperament tests at the shelter and was a staff and volunteer favorite. He enjoys attention and loves to be pet. Nash was very nervous at the shelter but was happy to jump in the car for his freedom ride!! Nash is great on a leash and takes treats gently. He knows basic commands and is house-broken.  He tested well with dogs and was not all that interested in the cats - he is most interested in people.  He is UTD and neutered. Nash had a home and he has been sad without one. We would love to find him a special family of his own.  Apply to adopt or foster Nash TODAY - you won't regret it Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 18, 2024, 4:11 pm

Story
Ginger's foster mom wrote to tell us what an amazing dog she is. This is her experience with Ginger. She loves everyone and everything. She loves to curl up and cuddle (she thinks she's a lap dog) and she is the snuggliest pup I have ever met! During the day, she is so relaxed while I do my work, she just curls up next to me or goes to sleep on her bed - just super go with the flow. She's a major velcro dog, and yet does not seem to struggle with separation anxiety. I have been practicing crate training and leaving her alone for short periods of time throughout the day and she does an amazing job, no barking, crying, or destructive behaviors. She was a bit difficult on the leash when I first got her, as she had never been on leash, but I started using a gentle leader harness and it has made a WORLD of a difference and she is super easy on the leash now. We are working on "heel" on the leash but with the gentle leader she barely needs the reminder to heel. However, she would only pull out of excitement since she just wants to say hi to every human and dog we walk past! The world needs to know how amazing of a dog she is! She is just a wonderful, sweet, silly dog who makes the best companion. Age: 2 years. WT: 51lbs. Temperament: Good with all people and dogs. Vetting: Spayed, up to date on vaccines, HW negative Training: House trained, crate trained, knows commands, Sit-stay-shake-down For questions, please email loramyers51@yahoo.com To ensure we're meeting both pet and adopters' needs, we ask potential adopters to complete an Adoption Application (www.bit.ly/DH-Adoption) for caretakers to review.
