Romeo is also still waiting for his happily-ever-after, and if dogs could make wish lists, his would probably be simple: a soft bed, a family to love, and someone to finally tell him, “You’re home.” While other dogs have come and gone, Romeo continues to greet each day with quiet kindness and a hopeful wag of his tail. He may be a little shy at first, but once he trusts you, he becomes the kind of loyal companion who never wants to leave your side. Romeo and his brother Ranger grew up around kids, dogs, and cats and have only ever known love from the family who raised them. Sadly, their owners could no longer afford to care for them or get them properly vetted, but despite all the changes in their lives, these boys have remained incredibly sweet and gentle. They’re lower-energy dogs who enjoy lounging around just as much as a romp in the yard. They’ve kenneled with dogs of all sizes without issue and are often used as “temperament test” dogs because they stay calm and non-reactive. Romeo is leash-trained, great in the car, neutered, fully vaccinated, about 2 years old, lab mix and he is ready for a home of his own. Romeo and Ranger have also gone on outings with volunteers and have done wonderfully meeting new people and other dogs. The shelter truly believes that once they’re in loving homes, their sweet personalities will blossom even more. All Romeo needs now is someone willing to give a longtime shelter dog the chance he’s been patiently waiting for. 🐾. Romeo or Ranger can be fostered or adopted to separate homes. If you have a foster or furever home for this pet, please e-mail Furever Home Dog Rescue at FureverHomeDogRescue@gmail.com and request an adoption application. The breed and age of this pet is listed as is our best guess. We have no background info on who the mom and dad are. Please note we do not adopt puppies/dogs to homes where they will be left alone all day. We do not have a shelter facility you can visit. Our volunteers foster the dogs and pups in their homes once they have been vetted and transported here to FHDR. Please read our homepage www.fhdr.petfinder.com to read how the adoption process works. Story
As you can see, Bruce is one handsome pup! With his shiny black coat, a splash of white on his chest, and those absolutely irresistible ears, he's sure to steal your heart. At approximately 6 months old and weighing around 35 pounds, Bruce is growing into a beautiful young dog with an even more beautiful personality. Bruce’s foster mom says…..”Bruce is such a sweet guy!! He loves to give hugs by putting his neck around your neck and holding like a hug!! He is just so darn cute!!!' Bruce is an exceptional young dog with a heart as big as his personality. While he loves adventure and play, what truly makes Bruce special is how affectionate he is. He adores being with his people and never misses an opportunity to lean in for pets, snuggle beside you, or curl up for a nap after a fun-filled day. and give you puppy kisses. He is so happy when he's included as part of the family. Bruce is house-trained, crate-trained, and already knows several commands, including sit, stay, down, and paw. He is incredibly intelligent, eager to please, and loves learning new things, making training both fun and rewarding. As an active young pup, Bruce thrives on exercise, play, and adventure. He loves chasing a ball or frisbee, exploring new places, and spending time outdoors. He would be happiest with an active family that enjoys daily walks, hikes, trips to the park, or backyard games. Keeping both his body and mind engaged allows him to shine. Bruce also has wonderful manners. He walks beautifully on a leash, rides calmly in the car, and gets along well with other dogs. Whether you're setting off on a new adventure or spending a quiet evening at home, Bruce will be right by your side, ready to share every moment. Want to make him your best friend? Just bring the cheese! Bruce had a family that loved him very much, but due to unexpected financial and work-related challenges, they made the difficult decision to surrender him to FHDR so he could have the life and opportunities he deserves. If you're looking for a smart, loyal, affectionate companion and have an active lifestyle to share, Bruce will be a perfect addition to your family! ❤️🐶 If you have a furever home for this pet, please e-mail Furever Home Dog Rescue at FureverHomeDogRescue@gmail.com and request an adoption application. Story
We adopted Archie from a rescue when he was a puppy at 14 weeks old. He's now 2 years old — a pitbull/lab/hound/boxer mix who is energetic, playful, highly intelligent, and affectionate. He loves fetch and tug-of-war, knows a full list of commands, and is just as happy curling up for cuddles as he is running around the yard. He genuinely loves people and is social and warm with adults. Unfortunately, Archie has shown that he is not safe around children — he recently bit our friends toddler in the face, causing injuries that required medical treatment. This is the reason we're rehoming him. For his next home, we're looking for an adult-only household, or an experienced foster/sanctuary environment, where he can get the structure, exercise, and attention he thrives on without children in the home. He'd do best with someone who understands his energy and intelligence and can keep up with his need for play and mental stimulation.

Story
This gorgeous young man is Barber (aka Barnaby, aka Buddy or Little one), with his wonky nose (vet checked and it’s either a birth defect or an injury when he was very young.). We think he’s a lab mix with some gorgeous grey and white markings on his chest, estimated to be 2 years old, he currently weighs 48lbs, so is the perfect size. Barber is a high energy, playful, but submissive soul that’s great in the car, sleeps all night in his crate and wakes up with a tail that wags so hard, he could whip up a cake. With his high energy, he can be bouncy and his favourite pastime is Parkour, but he’s trying so hard to be good and responds when corrected. He’s learning to walk on a leash, does constant check ins, but still a work in progress as he gets excited easily. He’s getting socialised gradually, he’s been great with older children. He doesn’t know all his commands yet, he is trying to mimic his fur foster siblings, and is food motivated, gives great eye contact, so looks like he will be a dream to train. Older children will have fun chasing him around and teaching him to play. He really will make the perfect family member for anyone who has the patience to train him and teach him manners. He would love a dog friend to live with to get rid of some of his energy. He would be best suited to an active family with a fenced in yard. https://www.coldnosewarmheart.org/apply-now.html

Hi!! My name is Nibbler and I'm the most mushy, biggest ball of puppy energy you'll ever meet! I might only have three legs- but dont let that fool you I'm strong and super capable! I love EVERYONE, humans are my favorite type of person (especially the ones that give me tummy rubs)!! Sometimes I get so excited I cant help but give nibbles all over (thats where i get my name from!).I'd do well in a house with older kids just because sometimes I like to play a little rough! I am most happy when I'm outside, especially when im on a lead playing and running in the backyard, something about about the outdoors just calms me🤍 I do have to say I love the sound of my own voice.. I am constantly making new noises to communicate with my Foster mom and im always making her laugh! When I'm not outside, i'm cuddled up right on top of my foster mom with a chewy (im secretly a lap dog) https://www.coldnosewarmheart.org/apply-now.html @cnwhnj @coldnosewarmheartnj

Story
PLEASE READ BELOW FOR OUR ADOPTION APPLICATION LINK MEET STELLA the Lab Mix (tall and skinny body frame with a deep chest like a Greyhound) North New Jersey Stella is the sweetest girl and as easy as they come. She loves sunning herself in the yard and taking naps. She is a very good communicator and lets you know when she needs to go out, wants to come in, needs water, etc. She also let's you know if someone is approaching the house, although she doesn't move from her sunny spot to do so. She is very well behaved in the house and clearly had some training and strict rules in her former home. She seeks approval to move around at all turns. It’s kind of sad actually. She is spayed, UTD, her blood work and xrays are normal, HW negative, she was treated for Lyme, her mouth is nice and clean so she didn't need a dental, housebroken, and she weighs 69 lbs. Her digestive system was a disaster upon arrival so we did allergy testing (5Strands) and the ole gal knew what she needed—the only thing she would eat and she had some great options—Annamaet Lean kibble (green bag). It’s as boring and vanilla as it comes. Her stomach cleared up immediately and she has been regular since. Stella is a wonderful gal who deserves her very own person to spend her retirement. She is very happy to meander around a small yard and plop down. She doesn’t really need to be walked so she is a great option for someone who just wants to let their dog out into the yard and back in. Given she is older and has long legs, she should not be doing a lot of stairs. She can do a step or two to get in and out of the house but she is not doing a flight of steps. So ideally a Ranch style house would be wonderful for her and obviously would prolong her life. Please fill out our adoption application if you are interested in Stella (link below). Please note we do not reply to all applications. Unfortunately we do not have the bandwidth. We only reach out if we would like to move forward in the process with your application. Thank you in advance for your understanding! Her adoption donation is $250. TO BE CONSIDERED, PLEASE FILL OUT OUR ADOPTION APPLICATION We only process complete applications and providing false information immediately disqualifies you from adopting. https://gingerbreaddogs.org/adopt-overview/adoption-application/ Please follow our Facebook page to see new dogs as they arrive and to keep up on the daily shenanigans: https://www.facebook.com/gingerbreaddogs ABOUT OUR PROCESS: WE ONLY CONTACT APPLICANTS WITH WHOM WE WANT TO MOVE FORWARD. We typically get in touch within 24-48 hours, but it may take up to 10 days. Please watch your email and answer your phone (from 201 area code) after you submit an application. Unfortunately, we do not have the manpower to reply to all applicants. We also do not have the manpower to accept phone calls. Everything we know about the dog is posted above. Our adoption process is on our website. You can see more about our daily operations on our Facebook page. PLEASE give your vet office permission to speak with rescues if you are applying to adopt from any rescue. Ask them to mark your file. If they will not speak with us, we will move on to the next application and you will not be considered. We consider out-of-area adoptions on a case-by-case basis. All meet & greets and adoptions are held in north New Jersey, and we do not transport our pups. You must come to NJ. We also do not “hold” dogs. It is “first qualified, first come” and our expectation is you will move quickly to conduct the meet & greet if you are approved. An approved application does not guarantee adoption of any dog from our rescue, and we reserve the right to deny adoption at any point during the process.
