Story
Meet the darling Rikki, a shy girl who is learning to embrace her new world. Rikki was rescued from a kill shelter in Swainsboro, Georgia and is working each day to learn the goodness and love that await her in life. Rikki is a 1-year-old, 22 pound Flat-Coated Retriever mix. Rikki has had a rough start in life, but each day she spends in the loving care at Home for Good, she grows confident and more sure of herself. Rikki appreciates patience and a gentle approach. She would love a quiet life in a calm home with humans who will remind her each day how loved and cherrished she is. Rikki would do well in a home with other confident dogs and cats, and older children. She is so hopeful for a bright and happy future with a forever family who will protect her and love her the way she deserves. She hopes that’s you! Rikki is spayed, up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations, and microchipped. **Please note: completing an "adoption inquiry" via Adopt-a-pet/Petfinder does not constitute an HFG Dog Rescue adoption application. Our fosters begin basic training, housebreaking, and leash-walking skills to help pair you with the perfect pup for life!   In order to apply for adoption and set up an individual meet and greet with one of our dogs, please visit us at www.hfgdr.org.   Find us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/HomeForGoodDogRescue.

Story
AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION! Madison is a 2-3 year old lab/shepherd mix who recently arrived from an overcrowded shelter. She found herself on the dreaded urgent list; we got her just in time! Affectionately nicknamed Maddie by her foster family, she is an incredibly loving and sweet girl who is ready to thrive in her forever home.  She is a great size at just over 45 lbs and has incredibly soft fur. Maddie's perfect day would involve cuddling up next to her humans to binge watch TV... although no promises she doesn’t snore through the show!    Maddie’s favorite food group is cheese… any and all cheese please! This is very helpful for training. Maddie has been through a lot of changes lately. Her family surrendered her and her sister with no explanation after adopting them as puppies two years ago. She was understandably nervous upon arrival to a new environment with new sights and sounds. She can be easily surprised, but settles quickly back into her default relaxation mode. She’s working on leash walking and being more comfortable outdoors. Maddie recently learned how fun treat training can be and has already made incredible strides in one week.    Madison does pretty well in her crate and is generally good with house training when kept on a schedule.  She's excited to keep working on this skill and earning more treats! Maddie is great with other dogs, and easily developed friendships with the pups in her foster home.  She would do well in a home with other pups to nap next to and play with daily.  She'd also be happy to receive all of her humans' attention as an only dog.   Email almosthome4dogs@yahoo.com to learn more about Maddie and schedule a meet! She deserves for her next stop to be her true forever home. (Local adoptions preferred — Philadelphia and tri-state area [South Jersey and northern Delaware] only.) PLEASE READ BEFORE CONTACTING US! Story
AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION! Finn is a happy-go-lucky 8 month old, 50 lb lab hound mix. This tall boy walks on a leash like a dream and is wonderful in his crate. Finn has spent the last 5 months in a shelter so many of your typical household sights and sounds are new to him. He is learning how to be a loved indoor pet.   Finn absolutely loves being outside. He would make a great hiking partner or a running buddy. If that’s not your style, no worries! Finn loves to run in the yard and play catch with himself. He runs around throwing his toys up in the air and catching them. And he’ll play catch with you, too! He actually retrieves and brings his toys back to you for more.   The best part about Finn is his A+ snuggling skills. He loves crawling up in your lap or snuggling in next to you for some pets and belly rubs. Finn gets along with other dogs and is compatible with cats. He can be nervous around young kids so a home with older or no  children would be best at this time.   If you’d like to meet handsome Finn, email almosthome4dogs@yahoo.com! He will make one lucky family so very happy.   (Local adoptions preferred — Philadelphia and tri-state area [South Jersey and northern Delaware] only.) PLEASE READ BEFORE CONTACTING US! Story
AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION! Candice is a sweet 2-3 year old lab hound girl who is so deserving of a loving forever family to welcome her home. Though her physical appearance suggests she may have had a rough start in life, you’d never know it from her gentle and kind personality. She is underweight at 60 lb and we suspect had at least one litter in her past. Now she only looks ahead to a bright future.   Candice is dog friendly and very loving with her people. She is calm in the house, although she can’t say no to a nice zoomie session around the yard. She is crate trained and sleeps quietly in there through the night and while her foster family is out of the house. Despite whatever she has been through, her tail is always wagging.   If you can give this sweet girl an amazing forever home and little extra TLC, she will give it back to you tenfold. Email almosthome4dogs@yahoo.com to meet our sweet, smiley girl Candice today. (Local adoptions preferred — Philadelphia and tri-state area [South Jersey and northern Delaware] only.)
