Story
Zoey was abandoned in our neighborhood in September. She is chipped, but the contact info on her chip is for a shelter that doesn’t exist and a phone number connecting to a person that says they don’t have a dog. We partnered with a rescue that paid for her to get shots and fixed, as well as treated for heart worm and we have been fostering her since, but we need to find a permanent home for her as soon as possible and the rescue we were working with had to hault their operations due to funding. Zoey is very friendly with humans (especially kids) and loves car rides and adventures. She does seem to have some trauma with big dogs, and gets frightened by other animals where her immediate reaction is usually defensive, so she would do best in a home without other dogs. She has been staying in a home with two cats for these last few months and she doesn’t seem to mind them unless they startle her, then she just barks. She knows basic commands but needs recall help. She is very calm/sweet.

If gentle souls came in dog form, they’d look exactly like Kayda, a 10-month-old, 37 lbs Labrador Retriever mix with the fluffiest heart you’ve ever met. She may start out a little timid, but give her a moment (and maybe a treat) and she’ll melt right into your lap like she’s known you forever. Kayda is a professional cuddler, a toy enthusiast, and a body-wagging sweetheart who thinks other dogs are pretty great too. She’s doing wonderfully with her potty training, and while she’s still learning that the crate is not, in fact, the end of the world, she settles down after a few minutes like the brave little bean she is. This girl doesn’t have an aggressive bone in her body—seriously, if kindness were a sport, she’d be taking home gold medals. She’s becoming more treat-motivated by the day (snacks = confidence), and she walks beautifully on a leash, making her an excellent adventure buddy for anyone who likes strolls with a side of sweetness. Kayda is looking for a family who will shower her with cuddles, patience, and plenty of treats as she continues to blossom into the confident lovebug she’s meant to be.
