Story
Meet Laurel, the Sweetest Soul With So Much Love Left to Give! At around 8–10 years old, Laurel is a gentle, soft-hearted girl who just wants to feel safe and loved. Life hasn’t always been easy for her, and she carries a little anxiety from her past—she worries about being left alone, when she’ll get fed, and sometimes feels unsure in new indoor spaces. Laurel thrives in a calm home with patient humans who understand that love, exercise, and routine can transform anxious hearts. She is incredibly affectionate, devoted, and eager to bond—once she chooses you, she loves you with her whole heart. Her ideal family is one that’s around often, enjoys cozy evenings on the couch, and wants a loyal shadow who will follow them from room to room just to be near. She doesn’t need much—just kindness, stability, and a warm place to rest her head. If you’re looking for a gentle, grateful companion who will adore you endlessly, Laurel is ready to give all the love she has. She may be older, but her best chapters are still ahead—she’s just waiting for the person who will help her write them. --- To apply to adopt, please follow the steps for adoption on HalfwayThereRescue.com/Adoption-Process and apply directly here: https://fs26.formsite.com/htrnp/a2k3lsooud/index.html

Story
If gentle souls came in dog form, they’d look exactly like Kayda, a 10-month-old, 37 lbs Labrador Retriever mix with the fluffiest heart you’ve ever met. She may start out a little timid, but give her a moment (and maybe a treat) and she’ll melt right into your lap like she’s known you forever. Kayda is a professional cuddler, a toy enthusiast, and a body-wagging sweetheart who thinks other dogs are pretty great too. She’s doing wonderfully with her potty training, and while she’s still learning that the crate is not, in fact, the end of the world, she settles down after a few minutes like the brave little bean she is. This girl doesn’t have an aggressive bone in her body—seriously, if kindness were a sport, she’d be taking home gold medals. She’s becoming more treat-motivated by the day (snacks = confidence), and she walks beautifully on a leash, making her an excellent adventure buddy for anyone who likes strolls with a side of sweetness. Kayda is looking for a family who will shower her with cuddles, patience, and plenty of treats as she continues to blossom into the confident lovebug she’s meant to be. If your heart has room for a gentle soul who will adore you endlessly, Kayda is your girl. 💛 --- To apply to adopt, please follow the steps for adoption on HalfwayThereRescue.com/Adoption-Process and apply directly here: https://fs26.formsite.com/htrnp/a2k3lsooud/in

Story
I’m Goldilocks, a beautiful Labrador retriever mix with a radiant smile that will win you over!I came to the Humane Society of York County from York County Animal Services. I’m a larger girl of about 55-60 pounds, and my estimated birth date is October 2023.I’m still a young girl with typical Labrador retriever energy, and I would be happy in an active home that helps me channel that spunky nature!I enjoy playing with other dogs who match my energy level, and I love a good game of fetch with my human friends.I need a little time to adjust to new things, and I would love a forever home where I can keep building my confidence. If you like to be on the go, I might be the girl who is your perfect companion! If you wish to meet me, please call the Humane Society of York County at (803)-802-0902 to schedule an appointment. Please refer to our website for adoption requirements: https://humanesocietyofyorkcounty.org/adopt/adoption-process.htmlThank you for your support.

Story
I’m Kaylor, a sweet terrier mix looking for stability in a forever home.I came to the Humane Society of York County as a stray, found in Rock Hill. I’ve apparently had quite a journey, as my microchip was registered a long way from South Carolina. But no one came to get me, so I’m safe at HSYC and looking for a new forever family or person.I’m a medium-size girl, about 50 pounds, and my estimated birth date is June 2023.I’m gaining confidence at the rescue and with classes I’ve started at Zoom Room in Fort Mill, where I’m learning important new skills. I love my walks and am a medium-energy girl. I’m affectionate with my humans and I get along well with other dogs!If you wish to meet me, please call the Humane Society of York County at (803)-802-0902 to schedule an appointment. Please refer to our website for adoption requirements: https://humanesocietyofyorkcounty.org/adopt/adoption-process.htmlThank you for your support.

I’m Rueben, a handsome Labrador retriever who is a fun companion anywhere my people want to go. I was surrendered by my owner to the Humane Society of York County. I’m a medium-size boy, about 55 pounds, and my estimated birth date is December 2023.I’m a mild-mannered fellow and a fantastic excellent leash walker. I have young-pup energy and would love to have a forever home with plenty of walks or play time.I attended school at Zoom Room in Fort Mill and showed how smart I am and how quickly I learn.
