Story
Foster/Foster to Adopt/Adopt DOB 3/13/22 Dudley was a stray who was not claimed in Chowchilla. Unfortunately he got parvo but was treated and recovered quickly. Dudley is around 6 months, best breed guess is short hound mix. Dudley is sweet but feisty! He loves his foster friends and he is very food motivated. He is just starting his leash training. Dudley is almost housetrained but will still have a few accidents, we are sure he just lived outside previously. He loves to sleep in his humans bed. Dudley is fixed, chipped and fully vaccinated. If you are interested in meeting Dudley please fill out an application https://www.ozziespoundpuppies.org/index.php/applications/adoption-application/

Story
01/16/26This friendly and affectionate dog warms up quickly to new people and enjoys attention, leaning in for pets and affection. He is comfortable with handling, including teeth checks and vaccinations, and responds well to gentle guidance. He would thrive in a loving home where he can get consistent attention, companionship, and positive interaction. This dog (male neutered, ~50 lb) came into the shelter with a limp. X-rays showed that he is close to 1 year old. This dog has been diagnosed with a chronic fracture of the proximal femur at the juncture of the femoral neck and the femoral head (right hip) with aseptic necrosis of the femoral neck. In other words, his right hip joint is broken and compromised. He has muscle atrophy in the right limb from disuse. This chronic injury is painful and requires surgical treatment, typically a femoral head and neck ostectomy (FHNO) procedure, to remove the damaged portion of the hip joint. Our very committed foster was able to coordinate surgical repair at UC Davis, which we hope to be completed by early to Mid-November as soon as they are able. Chance will need post-operative rehabilitation and care.Chance also has mild left coxofemoral degenerative joint disease (arthritis in the left hip).

Story
Meet Dixie 🎶🐶 Dixie is a 4-year-old Treeing Walker Coonhound, and she is all hound through and through! 👃🐾 One of her favorite things is showing off her signature hound bay 🎵—so be prepared for some classic hound vocals! Dixie came into the shelter as a stray with her daughter, Cammie 💕. She does well with polite, neutered male dogs 🐕✅ but isn’t a fan of other female dogs, aside from her daughter. Dixie knows what she likes and prefers to keep her circle small. This lovely hound could use some leash manners and basic obedience training 🎓🦴, but she’s a smart girl who will benefit from consistency and patience. A home without cats is recommended 🚫🐱. Dixie would do best with older, respectful children 👧🧒 who understand boundaries. No small, fast-moving kids, please—she prefers a calmer environment. Personality-wise, Dixie is very much a “live and let live” kind of gal 🌿. She doesn’t need to be the center of attention and isn’t a big cuddler, but she’s happy to coexist, do her own thing, and enjoy life at her own pace. If you’re a hound lover looking for an independent, easygoing companion with plenty of classic hound charm, Dixie may be your perfect match 🐾❤️ intake date 11/07/25 came in as a stray All adopted dogs will be spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped prior to going to their new home. 💖 Located at Manteca Animal Shelter 115 E Wetmore St Manteca Ca 95336 209-456-8270
