Story
Phoenix is an American Foxhound mix who is ready to find his forever home. He is just under a year old. This playful and smart pup is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and on monthly preventatives—he’s all set to start his next adventure! Phoenix adores his people and is a big fan of fun. He loves attention so needs to be an only dog. His favorite activities include running, chasing, and playing to his heart’s content. He’s been around cats and, while he’d love to play with them, he’s respectful of their boundaries. Phoenix is potty trained and crate trained. His energy is high, but he also knows how to relax and unwind when it's time to settle down. He’s continuing to improve his leash skills and manners, making great progress every day. We think Phoenix would make an amazing family dog, as he’s likely to thrive with kids who can match his playful energy. If you’re looking for a smart, affectionate, and active companion, Phoenix might be the perfect fit for you. Don’t wait—this awesome pup is ready to light up your life! To apply directly for Phoenix click the "Apply for Adoption" button. https://www.shelterluv.com/embed/animal/FODS-A-583 All our dogs come with 30 days of free post-adoption support through Petcademy.org. This benefit includes free access to Petcademy's team of trainers/behaviorists, as well as access to online materials that will help you settle your new family member into your home. Story
Hail to the Prince! This gorgeous little Basset hound mix is royally charming, and he knows it! Though he doesn't wear his crown for casual time, he does have a jaunty little brindle patch over his right ear that runs by his eye like a giant teardrop, used to full advantage when he gazes at you with those beautiful white-lashed eyes. A brindle girdle and hip adornment are the perfect finishes for his swank. Prince may be short, but his determination is unmatched. It may take him 15 tries to make it onto the couch, but make it, he will! To celebrate his victory, he will demand belly scratches or pounce on you in his excitement. His settling is lightning fast, and he will lie with you, on you, or at your feet for as long as you'll stay. Being treat motivated always helps in training, and he already sits and crates well, sleeping through the night. He has a wiggly, (but princely), walk, is aristocratically bossy, and will speak his mind without hesitation. The Prince is cat friendly, dog friendly, (though picky about which dogs), and adores children! If you like Basset hounds and have Basset experience, this is the guy for you. Will even forgo his crown and throne for the right person, in exchange for love and belly rubs. If you think you could supply these royal necessities, why not make this Prince your own? Story
“We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope.” - Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Getting dumped on the streets? Disappointing. Getting rescued on the same day? A spark of hope! Nowadays, everyone seems to want positive change. So, why not make an impact on the life of a super sweet rescue dog? Luther was found wandering the campus at St. Philip’s College on Martin Luther King Day. Lucky for him, his rescuer decided to take him in as a foster so he could have a second chance! Luther has fantastic manners in their home, and it’s clear he was owned at some point. This boy is neutered, potty trained, good with other dogs, and leash trained. He loves being close to his humans, and he’s a hugger, too! We can see him thriving in a home with other pets or older children. If you have a dream of adopting the perfect dog, this is your opportunity. Place an application to meet Luther today!
