Elvis is a loveable 56 pound mixed breed boy. According to the vet, he is about a year and half old. He is house trained and is good with kids and other dogs!He slept through the night loose in the house and was loose in the house all day with no issues. We watched him on the baby camera! Also, someone on the northeast Facebook identified him as a dog she saw clipped by a car late Friday night. Thankfully his only real injury is the large gash on one of his paws, but the vet cleaned it out and bandaged it.He’d love to find his forever home and he’s happy to finish his healing and vetting there!IMPORTANT: Please read all below, especially if you live outside of Texas, which is where our rescue is located.Apply to adopt on our website: https://www.charmingpetrescue.org/adoptAll of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.ALL of our animals are located in Boerne, TX, but transport after adoption is available to other states for a $300 fee for dogs or an additional fee varying by location for cats. This big lug of a guy is very sweet and is working so hard on his manners and learning boundries. He is very willing to learn, and oh SO smart, but a little stubborn too. Copper has a high drive which would make him great for nosework to keep his brain engaged. He is overly friendly with other dogs, so another dog in his life would need to be patient and understanding. My feeling, as his foster, Copper would do best in an only dog home, with a strong leader that is willing to put in some training time, to help Copper be the companion dog he is capable of. Copper is crate trained for night-time and does not test fencing, however, he can be a digger. Not cat or poultry friendly. Copper has a suspect cranial cruciate ligament injury and is a medical case, he is on pain management medication and has no restrictions at this time.

I am a super cool boy. I'm very shy due to past abuse. I will not willingly walk up to someone (unless they have food). I am in a great foster home and she is a great kitty foster and I get to live with other doggy friends too. I really love my bed and a quiet place to rest. I have had some female doggie friends in my presence and I would do very well with another female dog. The presence of another dog brings out the playful side in me. Male dogs may be ok as long as they aren't dominant. I've been around cats and kittens. They like to steal my comfy bed. I just let them. Older children would be best. I've been around small children, but they are just too scary. I have never shown an aggressive side. When coming around me, one needs to be quiet without a lot of commotion. I will let you pet me but I do cower due to previous treatment. I need someone that will be patient with me and give me time. Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX)

Hilda is kind of a formal name for such a big goofy girl like me! I am not sure who gave me the name, but they must be old and a little 'stuffy'... So I came from the high kill pound, scared and a little overwhelmed last spring. They basically have to kill almost all the dogs and pups that enter there....except there some very very lucky dogs and pups who get OUT of there- because of rescues! And they picked MEEEEEEEE!!! So I am here growing and playing and eating and running and LIVING! I am ready for the furever family who will love me! I am an ACTIVE girl, good with other male dogs. I am really best as an only dog in a home or with a male buddy who is medium energy. My family needs to be strong doggy leaders so I don't take over the "helm" in my home.
