*****Please note, once you complete the initial screening, you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. Transports run every few weeks, and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time*********** We are a volunteer-run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision-making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. **PENNY (Penelope)** — A Little Cartoon Character With a Whole Lot of Heart Penny is a 2-year old medium sized gal with short legs, a big personality, and the kind of charm that makes everyone smile. She is currently in Houston and can be transported out of state once an approved adopter is lined up! Her foster says she moves like a cartoon character, pouncing, bouncing, and zooming with her legs running faster than her body can keep up. She’s full of joy, sweetness, and silliness, and once she’s done entertaining everyone, she loves nothing more than curling up beside her person on the couch. Penny is affectionate in her own unique way, sometimes nudging her nose into your side before climbing her way right into your lap. She adores people, enjoys the company of other dogs, and brings a special type of warmth and humor to any room she walks into. Penny has wonderful social skills and enjoys playing with dogs both her size and much larger. She plays rough but listens well when corrected and respects another dog’s cues when they’ve had enough. She hasn’t lived with cats but has shown no interest when she’s encountered them. Penny hasn’t spent time with young children, and because of her strong, bouncy play style, she would do best in a home with kids ten and older. She is housebroken once she adjusts to a new routine, does well in a crate, and walks nicely on leash, preferring to wander and sniff rather than march in a straight line. She rides quietly in the car, eats comfortably around other dogs, and shares toys and space with no issues. Penny would thrive in a home that understands or appreciates bulldog breeds and all their wonderful quirks. She is energetic enough to enjoy playtime in the yard but settles beautifully afterward for long naps and cuddles. She snores loudly, breathes like many short-nosed breeds do, and occasionally gets winded after a big burst of activity. The vet has assured that these are typical traits for her breed, and her adopter should be ready to love her exactly as she is or explore surgical options if recommended by their own vet. Penny would enjoy having another dog in the home but would also do well as the center of someone’s world. Her foster describes her as playful, silly, affectionate, and endlessly entertaining—a dog who will make you laugh and then melt into your side like she was meant to be there all along. Penny is ready for a family who will appreciate her goofy heart, her loyal nature, and her big, bright spirit. She has so much love to give, and she can’t wait to share it with the person who sees just how special she truly is. If you are interested in adding this silly girl into your family, please fill out the adoption application below! https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DDAR/Dog **Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. Story
Winnie is a 21-pound French Bulldog sweetheart estimated to be around 5 years old, hw-, and she is not spayed. She does have a scar on her belly, that we assume is from a previous c section. She is recently out of heat.  Winnie’s story is just as touching as her personality. She was found dumped in a ditch, trapped in a kennel. When she was first rescued, her little soul was clearly crushed. She was malnourished, shut down, and unsure — yet even then, she was still incredibly sweet. While we may never know what Winnie endured in her first years of life, what matters most is that she is now safe, loved, and finally learning what it means to be cared for. Since being in a loving foster home, Winnie has truly come out of her shell. Now that she knows she will be fed, protected, and cherished, her personality has blossomed in the most beautiful way. She is affectionate, joyful, and full of love, and it’s been incredible to watch her transform into such a confident, happy little girl while never losing her gentle nature. Winnie is exceptionally loving, people-focused, and cuddly. She adores attention, thrives on human connection, and would happily spend her days right by your side soaking up affection and belly rubs — one of her favorite things. She is gentle, super sweet, and does wonderfully with kids. While she enjoys playing with her toys and taking cozy naps independently, she truly prefers being close to her people and feeling included in everyday life. She enjoys going on short walks, is great in the car, and is an easy, pleasant companion all around. Her calm yet playful, affectionate presence makes her such a joy to have in the home. Her kennel training is great, her house training is great as long as she is let out within a reasonable amount of time. She usually has to potty within 10-20 mins after eating or drinking.  When it comes to other dogs, Winnie seems to prefers her people over other dogs. She does well with smaller, calmer dogs, especially with proper introductions. She prefers relaxed canine companions and does best around dogs who don’t expect high-energy play, as she seems much more interested in being near her person than engaging with other dogs. This may change over time once she becomes more comfortable with any dog family members.  Overall, Winnie is an incredibly sweet, resilient, and loving girl whose past has not dimmed her heart. Watching her blossom after such a rough start has been nothing short of amazing, and whoever is lucky enough to welcome Winnie into their home will be gaining a devoted companion with so much love to give.  If you would like to have Winnie join your family please fill out an adoption application.  Her adoption fee covers medical up to adoption to include vaccines, spay, microchip, foster care and transportation from Louisiana to NY. ##2589086##

Story
Meet Millie, a tiny fighter with a huge heart. Just two weeks before Christmas 2024, we got the call to rescue Millie. At only five weeks old, she was on death’s door—skin and bones, riddled with worms, coccidia, and fleas. No one was sure if she’d make it, but Millie had other plans. With treatment, love, and a will to live, this resilient pup pulled through and showed the world just how strong she is. Today, Millie has transformed into a playful, quirky little Frenchie mix who struts around like she owns the place. She’s full of personality, equal parts spunky and snuggly, and she has a way of making everyone around her smile. Whether she’s bouncing around during playtime or curling up close for snuggles, Millie’s charm shines through. Now healthy, thriving, and full of love, Millie is ready for her forever home—a place where she can keep being the sweet, funny, one-of-a-kind pup she was meant to be. If you’re ready to meet a little miracle with a big personality, Millie is waiting for you.
