*****Please note, once you complete the initial screening, you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. Transports run every few weeks, and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time***********
We are a volunteer-run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision-making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog.
**PENNY (Penelope)** — A Little Cartoon Character With a Whole Lot of Heart
Penny is a 2-year old medium sized gal with short legs, a big personality, and the kind of charm that makes everyone smile. She is currently in Houston and can be transported out of state once an approved adopter is lined up! Her foster says she moves like a cartoon character, pouncing, bouncing, and zooming with her legs running faster than her body can keep up. She’s full of joy, sweetness, and silliness, and once she’s done entertaining everyone, she loves nothing more than curling up beside her person on the couch. Penny is affectionate in her own unique way, sometimes nudging her nose into your side before climbing her way right into your lap. She adores people, enjoys the company of other dogs, and brings a special type of warmth and humor to any room she walks into.
Penny has wonderful social skills and enjoys playing with dogs both her size and much larger. She plays rough but listens well when corrected and respects another dog’s cues when they’ve had enough. She hasn’t lived with cats but has shown no interest when she’s encountered them. Penny hasn’t spent time with young children, and because of her strong, bouncy play style, she would do best in a home with kids ten and older. She is housebroken once she adjusts to a new routine, does well in a crate, and walks nicely on leash, preferring to wander and sniff rather than march in a straight line. She rides quietly in the car, eats comfortably around other dogs, and shares toys and space with no issues.
Penny would thrive in a home that understands or appreciates bulldog breeds and all their wonderful quirks. She is energetic enough to enjoy playtime in the yard but settles beautifully afterward for long naps and cuddles. She snores loudly, breathes like many short-nosed breeds do, and occasionally gets winded after a big burst of activity. The vet has assured that these are typical traits for her breed, and her adopter should be ready to love her exactly as she is or explore surgical options if recommended by their own vet. Penny would enjoy having another dog in the home but would also do well as the center of someone’s world.
Her foster describes her as playful, silly, affectionate, and endlessly entertaining—a dog who will make you laugh and then melt into your side like she was meant to be there all along. Penny is ready for a family who will appreciate her goofy heart, her loyal nature, and her big, bright spirit. She has so much love to give, and she can’t wait to share it with the person who sees just how special she truly is.
