Story
Ben is a very friendly dog. He is playful and fun. He loves to sit in your lap and lay beside you. He loves car rides. He doesn’t bark much so don’t count on him as a guard dog. No one is a stranger to him. When we go for walks he is always sniffing the ground. He is always ready to go. He knows basic commands like get down and back and come inside. I work at night so he is on my back porch when I go. During the day he is in the backyard. I have plenty of toys for him to play with but he would rather drag around tree branches. He will find something to destroy. I got him from the pound 2 years ago. I thought he would grow out of this behavior but he hasn’t. I can’t leave him alone in the house he will destroy anything he can. He needs constant attention and with my schedule it is impossible for me. He needs to be with a family with kids or other dogs or with someone willing to properly train him. He needs someone with more time to devote to him.

All of our dogs are housed in private homes, we do not have a store or a shelter.  We do not show dogs to interested parties until they have an approved adoption application.  If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs, please fill out an adoption application on our website www.helpingshepherdsofeverycolor.com  You may also find us on facebook:  Helping Shepherds of Every Color Rescue. HI, I AM TRUDY.  I COULD BE THE BEST PRESENT YOU WILL EVER GET AND YOU COULD BE THE BEST PRESENT I WILL EVER GET BY GIVING ME A PERMANENT FOREVER HOME. I AM 1/2 TO 3/4 GERMAN SHEPHERD AND 8 MONTHS OLD. I HAVE HAD ALL MY SHOTS AND FIXED AND READY TO GO FOR YOU. MY FOSTER PARENTS LOVE ME AND I HAVE SPECIAL NEEDS. WHEN I WAS LITTLE SOMEONE WAS NOT GOOD TO ME AND I AM BLIND IN ONE EYE. SO I AM A SPECIAL NEEDS DOG, YOU HAVE TO BE PATIENT WITH ME. I NEED A WELL FENCED YARD AND LOTS OF LOVE AND ATTENTION. I LOVE EVERYONE AND EVERYBODY. GIVE ME A GOOD HOME AND I WILL BE YOUR BEST FRIEND. THANKS. TRUDY Trudy is a special pup.  She is very friendly and loving and she likes for you to sit down so she can crawl in your lap.  She wants to play with her foster siblings but they aren't really interested.   We don't know Trudy's background, but she has some slight physical limitations.  She can be walked on a harness but not with a collar.  She is sensitive to anesthesia and she is blind in one eye so may startle easy when approached from that side.  Other than that, Trudy is just a loving pup who needs a furever home.        September 18, 2023, 12:06 am

She has been good with a female dog her size and a small male dog, but she is way too interested in bothering kitties.   Bitsy was in a foster home with kids and is learning not to jump on them.  She loves to play fetch but she also loves to cuddle.  Bitsy is great in the house and can stay uncrated while you're not home....UNLESS.....something yummy is left unsupervised on the counter. Then she might give in to temptation and help herself.  I mean if you leave it there, it must be for her, right?  September 18, 2023, 12:06 am

Macy is healthy, happy, and ready for a furever home.  She gets along with the other dogs in her foster home.  Macy likes to run and play with her foster siblings but she is also an expert napper.  She has filled out and would look great napping in a new home. Stacey came to us from an area shelter. She is one of many that were heartworm positive.  She has been fully vetted and treated for heartworms and is now in a foster home teaching us more about her. Stacey is friendly with other dogs and she loves to go for walks.  She will work for food and is building her confidence. Here is an update from  her foster mom: Stacey, when she arrived in late November to  her foster home, she was quite a nervous little girl. She is a small female German Shepherd rescued from Selma, AL. She has made remarkable improvement from that first day. At first, she was staying in an indoor/outdoor kennels with other dogs and going on walks twice a day. I tried several different approaches but with little change in behavior except when her food is used as reward.  Her behavior has never been aggressive, just afraid of new things but as I have learned she will push through with a little help from you and the food, she has very high food drive.  The first week of January we started seeing changes in her behavior towards us and her surroundings. She is now staying around us and our 5 dogs daily and sleeping inside in an enclosed kennel.  We have noticed she does better when things are calm, not loud, and boisterous. She likes tight places to hide in like under tables, behind couches and under chairs. She went camping with us and did great with my shepherd and pitbull mix in close quarters.  She also does not use the restroom in her smaller kennel or house since we started training her inside.    She is smart and very curious about the world around her, and we continue to introduce her to new things. She has beautiful colors and compares to my shepherd she is on the small side. She also is drawn to men.  Every day she gets braver to explore new things. We are starting to see her learning to play with other dogs. I believe she would make someone a great companion because she loves her person and wants to be with them.   September 18, 2023, 12:06 am

Luna is a 3-and-1/2-year-old female German Shepherd mix who has already been spayed.  She has the classic German Shepherd coat of black with tan markings.  Luna currently weighs 51 pounds so she is considered to be a medium sized adult dog.  Luna is leash trained and enjoys walking on a leash.  She knows the commands 'sit, shake, and down'.  Luna does best when she is slowly introduced to other dogs; so if you have another dog it would be fantastic if you could schedule a meet and greet with your dog.  Luna loves human attention and is treat motivated.  She would be fine with children and she is already house trained.  Come on out, we will supply the treats, and get to know gorgeous girl Luna.Dog/puppy adoption fees are $100.  Cat/kitten adoption fees are $50.  September 27, 2023, 7:33 pm

Story
Roscoe is an 1-year-old male German Shepherd who must be neutered before adoption.  He is an owner turn in because they could no longer take care of him.  Roscoe has the classic black and tan coat of a pure bred German Shepherd.  He weighs 70 pounds so he is a big fellow.  Handsome Roscoe is very active and playful.  He is friendly and would be okay in a home with older children--no younger children due to his activity level.  Roscoe is very smart but he would need an experienced owner to teach him to curb his energy and teach him proper canine behavior.  Roscoe is strong, powerful, and loves to jump.  This is a majestic and grand dog who needs an owner who is willing to take up a lot of time with him.  Dog/puppy adoption fees are $100.  Cat/kitten adoption fees are $50.  September 27, 2023, 7:33 pm

Please make sure to read the narrative below our pet's photos as you will find a description of our pet with all we know about them, our adoption fee info, and you will find the link to do our online Adoption Application which is the first step in our Adoption Process!     Please read ALL below where you will find answers about the pet, our adoption fees and how to do our adoption application!   Pet Description:  Sara is a 6-7 year old female German Shepherd, sadly given away a couple of times in a few weeks before coming to us.  We think the reason is she ended up with us is that she has very low exercise tolerance so they probably thought she was no good for guarding or playing with other dogs perhaps or who knows.  She tested negative for heartworms so we were concerned with congestive heart failure and got Sara to a Vet.  Here are the Vet's diagnostic findings:   'She has a long redundant dorsal membrane. This is not the same as collapsing trachea but causes decreased diameter of trachea. We also wonder if she is a kind of laryngeal paralysis type of dog. Her heart is large but not technically congestive heart failure.   I think that keeping her from getting too excited is the key. She will be like a collapsing trachea dog.   Sara weighs 117 lbs, but should weigh closer to 90 lbs so weight loss is key.' So Sara needs that special home to let her chill IN THE HOUSE but also be on a controlled diet to help her lose weight.  She is definitely worth it as she is sweet as can be!  Are you her Special Needs home?  We have her Xray from the Vet if you want to show it to your Vet.     DOG ADOPTION FEE is $100.
