Story
Puddle is a young German Shepherd with a sweet heart and so much potential. While he may not have had much structure or guidance in his previous home, he’s already shown us just how eager he is to learn and grow. With the right person by his side, we know this boy is going to absolutely blossom. Because of his breed and personality, Puddle would thrive with someone who understands Shepherds and is committed to continuing his confidence-building journey. Though he was surrendered for not being potty trained, Puddle has surprised everyone with how well he’s done in the shelter—he keeps his kennel clean and has yet to have a single accident! Puddle can be a little sensitive to loud noises or sudden movements, but he walks beautifully on leash and prefers staying close to his people where he feels safe and secure. He would likely benefit from crate training in his future home, both to help maintain good habits and to give him a cozy space of his own to decompress in. He has not shown any reactivity toward other dogs and actually seems eager to make canine friends. We’re always happy to help with dog meet-and-greets if needed! Puddle may need a little time to warm up to new people, but he’s been handling new experiences like a champ. Gentle affection, patience, and yummy treats are definitely the way to win him over. And once he’s comfortable, his adorable little zoomies come out, and it’s impossible not to smile. As a working breed, Puddle will do best with positive outlets for both his energy and his brain—walks, training, enrichment, and quality time with his people will help him thrive. Puddle is truly such a good boy, and we’ve been incredibly proud of the progress he’s already making. He’s ready for a family willing to believe in him, guide him, and love him through this next chapter of life.

Story
Max came to us after being dealt a rough hand in life, but despite everything he’s been through, he remains one incredibly happy, loving boy. His past may not have been easy, but we’re so excited for the bright future ahead of him—and we know the right family is going to absolutely adore him. When Max first arrived, he was very underweight. While he’s already made wonderful progress, he’s still on his healthy weight journey and would love a family committed to helping him continue to thrive. Max is social, friendly, and just a little chatty in the best way. He arrived with his friend Tracy, and the two get along wonderfully. He has not shown reactivity toward other dogs in the shelter, though he does seem to have a more confident male personality. Thoughtful introductions are always encouraged, and we’re happy to arrange dog meet-and-greets if needed! This handsome guy is smart, attentive, and eager to be with his people. He likely has potty training experience, though like any dog, he’ll need time to settle in and learn a new routine. Max walks beautifully on a leash and knows cues like “sit” and “down.” Max truly comes alive outdoors. Whether it’s a walk, a hike, or simply soaking up fresh air, being outside is his happy place—and he’d love a family ready to include him in their adventures. While he’s an active boy, he’s not overwhelming; regular exercise and time with his people are really all he asks for. More than anything, Max is resilient. Even after life’s challenges, he continues to greet the world with joy, enthusiasm, and a wagging tail. He’s ready to leave the hard days behind and become someone’s loyal adventure buddy for life.

Story
Wonderful and trained... sit, paw, kennel, lay down he knows. Agressive toward other dogs...not sure really...never bit another dog...has lived with other dogs close to his size... but he gets so excited and it apprears aggressive to other dogs and so we don't know. So, we've avoided other dogs. He need to be trainied to be around other dogs. Believe he was caged a lot before we had me the last two years. Great with people, teens, kids, but may knock over your baby accidentially. Not spacially aware of tiny kids. Loves Loves Loves the out doors... reason for rehoming! We don't have yard, only a balcony. We cannot let him out to run and play as he wants to due to lots of traveling. We wan't him to have a better home with more space and regular outdoors. Won't pee in house unless holding it too long. Can go 12hrs before needing to go to bathroom. We take him out twice a day, morning and evening. Loves to drink water, so we have to manage how much to prevent home urination. Dog food only

Good with dogs, Needs special attention,
Story
Justice was able to be seen by Dr Snyder with Polar Eyes Veterinary Ophthalmologyduring his recent visit to Fairbanks. After a careful examination Justice’s diagnosis to her left eye is Phthisical globe – secondary to previous full thickness corneal perforation A phthisical globe is the end-stage, shrunken, and disorganized eye resulting from severe trauma, such as a full-thickness corneal perforation. Caused by chronic inflammation, low ocular pressure, and, in this case, severe perforation, which leads to permanent vision loss. I cannot imagine the pain this puppy was put through. Since she was not surrendered when it happened her eye is no longer painful. If she would have landed in a safe place after it happened surgery would have been done immediately. But now we are dealing with an eye which is no longer painful. So to schedule a surgery to remove it serves no purpose. If, however in her future her eye develops chronic conjunctivitis or discharge the removal of her eye needs to be strongly considered. Even with everything she has endured in her life, she is a very happy go-lucky girl. She greets everyone with enthusiasm, she is not shy, her tail is always going. And that’s the same with her brother. Both puppies have fantastic personalities. They kennel wonderfully, use the dog door to go potty and play together nicely. They are not a bonded pair and do not need to be adopted together. I was told they are German Shepherd / Malinois mix. They are both available for adoption. Folks who have an approved application on file can arrange a visit with one. Applications are found on the rescue’s website at agsrescue.com under forms. I want to again Thank Dr Snyder for fitting us in his busy schedule while he was here in Fairbanks, and for taking his time to explain everything in order for me to understand Justice’s medical needs.

Story
Hazel is an very affectionate dog we often find her snuggled up with our cats or playing with our child. She loves being going on walks and being outside. Hazel is a sweet and active girl who’s full of love and life! She’s crate trained but she hasn't needed or wanted to in years. Hazel adores attention and is happy to be petted anywhere, by anyone. She’s also a total snuggle bug who will always wiggle into her favorite spot, right next to you! She's a smart girl knows all the classics: Sit, Stay, Down, Treat/Cookie, Come, and Leave It. She loves her Kong toys and enjoys playtime just as much as cuddle time. Hazel gets along wonderfully with men, women, kids, dogs, cats, and even small animals. If she's unfamiliar with another animal, she will be standoffish. It doesn’t take long for her loving personality to shine through and a new friend to be made. She's a great girl who needs and active family!
