Story
Simon (A130511) is a 2-year-old German Shepherd x Lab mix who weighed 60.8 pounds on intake! 12/30/25 This goofy boy is Simon! Simon was surrendered to the shelter due to no fault of his own, but sadly, because his owners ran into housing issues with these cold temperatures. Simon was very loved and eagerly awaiting his next adventure! He would still benefit from attending a basic obedience class with a certified trainer to continue working on his manners. He is looking for a patient owner who will continue to work with him. Simon was stated to still have the occasional accident inside the house and HATES being kenneled. You might notice he has a little rub mark on his nose from previously being kenneled. Simon was said to great with people of all ages including babies and children! He also previously lived with other dogs and did well with them! He was said to really enjoy canine companionship! Simon was noted to have a high prey drive and would chase after poultry. He would do best in a home without small critters that might be tempting to go after. If you are interested in meeting Simon, please let us know! 03/29/23 These little cuties are a mix between a German Shepherd and a Labrador Retriever. They were surrendered to the shelter due to the cost of caring for the litter. At the shelter, they have been social and friendly. Puppies are a lot of work and each puppy is looking for an owner who will be devoted to their care and training. They will need help with potty training, basic commands, positive socialization, and so much more! Bringing your pup to a puppy obedience class is a great way to start their training and get in some extra socialization! When these little ones grow up, they are looking for an owner who can keep them both mentally and physically stimulated. If you are interested in meeting one of these sweet little pups, please give the shelter a call!December 31, 2025, 12:24 am

Story
Marshall (A136751) is a 1-year-6-month-old German Shepherd x Lab mix who weighed 81lbs pounds on intake! 01/06/26 Marshall is back after a sleepover adoption. His adoptive owner had nothing bad to say about him but that they realized that maybe this wasn't the best time in their life to bring home a dog. Even though Marshall only the spent the night in their care they did note that he is indeed kennel trained and housebroken (will stand by the door). He was also said to ride well in a car and to be gentle when playing. If you are interested in meeting this big energetic goofball, please let us know! 01/03/26 Mister Marshall is back at the shelter due to no fault of his own. Marshall was said to be kennel trained and housebroken. He was said to generally mind well, but he has been known to dig. Marshall loves to play fetch! He was said to go for up to an hour at times! He was also said to love humans of all sizes and other dogs. Marshall knows some basic commands, such as sit, come, lay down and heel. In his most recent home, Marshall was said to be gentle with the baby and to love the toddler. He still has no experience with other types of animals, such as cats or small critters. If you are interested in meeting Marshall, please give us a call!01/27/25 Marshall is back at the shelter because he wasnâ&#194&#128&#194&#153t the right fit for his previous adoptive owner, with them having a baby on the way. Marshall was said to be friendly with everybody that he met, including babies and children. He was also said to do well with dogs in his last home but has no new experience with cats, pocket pets, or livestock. His prior owner did mark that he was kennel trained, housebroken, and rides well in a car. He is a young dog who was said to generally mind well but still likes to jump up on people. We encourage his next owner to work with a certified trainer to continue working on his manners. This is Marshallâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s third time at the shelter, at only 6 months old, and he is really hoping he can find his family to grow old with. If you are interested in meeting Marshall and hopefully making that commitment to him, please let us know! 12/25/24 Marshall (previously known as Rico) was returned to the shelter due to being too messy for the previous owner to handle. Marshall was said to do well with babies, children and loves to meet new people. He was also said to do well with other dogs but has not had any experience with cats or small animals so ensure you are performing those introductions in a slow, safe and controlled manner. Marshall was also said to be housebroken and kennel trained. We would like to remind potential adopters that puppies are a lot of work and Marshall is no exception! Puppies can be especially vocal, messy and very rambunctious at times. They need a lot of time, patience, training and guidance to help them learn how to become excellent family companions as they grow and mature. Marshall is a mixture of two very high energy breeds and will need lots of mental and physical stimulation to keep his mind busy! If you are interested in meeting with Marshall, please let us know. 12/02/24 This outgoing pup is Rico! Rico arrived at the shelter as a stray with his brother Lucas and sister Belize. They have waited out their stray holds and are now eagerly awaiting to find their new families! In typical puppy fashion, they are looking for a home that will have the time, energy, and patience to devote to them. We encourage their next owners to bring them to a basic obedience class with a certified trainer for a positive first start! These three amigos were not confident walking on a leash when they first arrived at the shelter but are slowly figuring out the ropes. They seem to understand that they should potty outside but will need some continued help with potty training. They are smart puppies just looking for some guidance! If you are interested in meeting Rico, please let us know!January 6, 2026, 4:51 pm

Story
Zion is a Shiloh Shepherd, he is 6 yrs old, came in to the rescue because his owner had passed away. Zion is under-socialized with people, other dogs and new environments. We are currently working on his lack of confidence as he is a pretty fearful boy. He doesn't enjoy car rides, as he will hunker down and hide while in the truck. He has had a lot of changes and we are slowly working on his fear issues. Due to his fears he will not be adopted to a home with children or a home who plans to have children, preferably be the only dog, a very low key home environment without a lot of people coming and going. Potential must have experience with Shepherds and must have a 6 foot (or higher) fence.

Story
1.5 yr old Male German Shepherd, He is a super sweet boy who has a medical, genetic brain disorder, Mostly is affecting his memory. It's like every day is the first day in meeting him. It has taken him months before I could pet him. I am gaining trust with him, but that has taken a lot of time and understanding. This condition has made it difficult to get him to relax around new people. He has never shown aggression, he cowers or tries to hide. He has been in rescue a very long time and he is just now ok with me. He will need an owner who understands he needs time, a lot of time to become comfortable. His social behavior is not about you being a good person. He needs someone who is not going to be offended by his lack of trust with humans. Sad that, that needed to be said, but so many people have expectations on how a dog should behave around them because "every dog loves them" He needs a person who will not take it personal when he doesn't immediately seek out love and attention. He will need a number of visit here in Fairbanks before he can go on an overnight. With that said people living outside the Fairbanks area is not possible. Here is a link to see a video of him https://fb.watch/a_Kh5Kl5Sf/ Ideal home is a quiet one, not filled with a lot of people coming and going. He needs someone who does not have high expectations nor does he need someone who has a timeline scheduled for him to overcome his behavior. He needs someone that has the mindset of Here we are and you are welcome to take as much time as you need to trust me. Are you that person?
