Story
This handsome 4-year-old Shepherd mix is a smart, driven boy who thrives in a calm, structured environment with an experienced dog owner who understands shepherd-type behaviours. He knows several verbal cues including sit, down, shake a paw, and speak, and he takes treats gently, making him a great partner for continued training and enrichment. Best suited to an adult-only home, he can be aloof and sensitive with handling, so children are not recommended. He will benefit from a home committed to daily leash walks, a securely fenced backyard, and ongoing engagement—off-leash parks are not appropriate at this time as he continues to build recall and will need to bond with his new adopters. A dedicated adopter who can follow a structured food program (including interactive feeders, hand-feeding, and trade-ups) and commit to a required private behaviour training class will help this dog reach his full potential. In the right home, he will be a loyal, focused companion who truly shines with consistency and guidance.Size: Medium 25kg/55lbsChildren: Adult only home pleaseCats: Potential for a no cats or small animals home - not tested - recommend slow introductionsDogs: May do best with dogs of similar size and playstyle

Story
Summary: This cool dude is a people lover, so much that a calm touch can settle his anxiety when he is overwhelmed with a situation. He is not loving the shelter life here and struggling to settle at times. A thunder jacket and some tasty kongs can help him feel more at ease. He is a boisterous and pushy guy at times as well as a very big guy who can pull his weight around when he wants. He has a great list of obedience skills that will help him build success once in his new home. Due to his anxious behaviour here in shelter we would require training for him once he is in his new home, having a CPDT certified dog trainer come to help you with a plan once he is home and settling in. This guy may enjoy a companion dog who is appropriate and can show him the ropes and help him feel safe as he settles. We are not seeing any clinical signs of arthritis in shelter but on xrays we are seeing early to moderate arthritis. So keeping his weight down, providing supplements such as glucosamine and doing low impact exercise will help greatly. We also recommend having regular visits with your vet to monitor for any future changes and to watch for signs of pain or discomfort.Health Note for Adopters:This dog has some early changes on X-rays consistent with mild to moderate arthritis, mainly affecting one elbow and mildly in the hips and other elbow. At this time, he is comfortable and active, with no signs of limping or ongoing discomfort noted in clinic or in his foster home.As he ages, adopters are encouraged to monitor for any signs of joint stiffness or front-leg soreness. Simple proactive care—such as maintaining a healthy weight, providing regular low-impact exercise with warm-ups and cool-downs, and discussing joint supplements with your veterinarian—can help support long-term comfort. Routine veterinary checkups are recommended to watch for early changes and guide care as needed.Size: Large to XL once he is back up to weight- 34.5 kg / 76lb and needs to gainChildren: Adult only home pleaseCats: unknown. May do best in a cat free home or where very slow introductions would happen. Dogs: Loved having dogs in his foster home over the weekend, but would need to make sure he is not overdoing things for his legs.

Story
Imagine being just six weeks old, living outdoors in a rural community during freezing winter temperatures—surrounded by ten other dogs, competing for food, warmth, and survival. That was Link’s beginning. It’s a heartbreaking start, but it’s only one small chapter of his story. Link came into care with Megan's Rescue in the dead of winter—tiny, unsure, and still learning that the world could be kind. Since then, he has done nothing but grow. Now a young adult, Link is patiently waiting for the family he’s always deserved. Link is a happy, gentle soul with a playful streak. He adores his toys and has a special love for carrying sticks along on his adventures. He travels wonderfully in the car, is house trained, and crate trained—making him an easy companion to welcome into a home. He does well with other dogs, though he can show some resource-guarding tendencies, so continued guidance and structure will help him thrive. Because of his rough start, Link isn’t 100% confident in every situation yet—but he is eager to learn, eager to please, and highly food motivated, which makes training a rewarding experience for both of you. Above all else, Link loves people. He’s gentle, affectionate, and happiest when he’s by your side, building trust and soaking up love. Link has survived his hardest days. Now he’s ready for his best ones—could that be with you? 🐾

Story
Ford is one of those special pups who can match your energy - he’s just as happy curling up for couch time (especially if blankets are involved!) as he is heading out for an adventure. At home, Ford is affectionate, relaxed, and well-mannered. He’s fully house-trained, loves to greet you at the door with a wagging tail, and hasn’t shown any destructive behaviours. When it’s time to play, his fun-loving side really shines - he absolutely loves fetch and will happily bring you his favourite ball to keep the game going.Out and about, Ford is still learning how to navigate the world with confidence. He can become vocal and reactive when surprised by things like unfamiliar people, dogs or sudden movement, often showing this through barking and lunging. With guidance, Ford has already started learning new skills - he is very food motivated and is beginning to respond to redirection cues with treats and encouragement.Ford is looking for a home that’s excited to continue helping him build these skills using positive reinforcement training. With consistency, structure and practice, he has great potential to become more confident and focused on his handler.Like many young, playful dogs, Ford can get a little jumpy and mouthy when excited, especially during playtime. He’s learning to manage this, and responds well to clear guidance and redirection.Ford is a loving, playful, and deeply rewarding companion who will thrive in a home ready to support him, have fun with him, and continue his learning journey.About Ford:- Older, dog-savvy kids recommended- No cats in home- Dogs may be okay pending successful introductionTo help Ford and his family start life off on the right paw, Ford will receive three private consults and a session of Reactive Rover to support him.
