Story
Introducing Nene, a gentle German Shepherd girl with a heart as soft as her fur and a sweetness level that could power a small village. Rico is available through our `Adopt From a Foster Home` program. If you are interested in scheduling a meeting, please fill out the request form here: Adopt From Foster Form. Please do not make an appointment through our online booking calendar, as he is not available to meet on site.Age: 3 yearsWeight: 43.20 kgA little bit about Rico:- unknown history with kids, all interactions should be supervised- no history with cats and small animals, all interactions should be supervised- has had positive interactions with other calm, confident dogsRico may be a large boy, but this gentle giant is a lap dog at heart! This gorgeous guy was surrendered to us for no fault of his own and is waiting for his forever home in the comfort of a foster home. In the shelter he was quite shut down, overwhelmed by the unfamiliar sounds, spaces and people. But in his foster home he has truly blossomed - his foster describes him as “genuinely the sweetest dog,” and it doesn’t take long to see why!Once he warms up (usually within a day), Rico bonds deeply and loves to stay close to his people. He can be a little shy at first, but he’s never shown any signs of aggression, and he settled beautifully even when staying with new people in a new home. He would thrive with someone who can offer companionship and plenty of cozy moments, as he’s happiest curled up nearby and nudging gently for more pets.Rico has had nothing but positive interactions with other dogs and could enjoy a canine friend in his forever home. We would be happy to facilitate a dog introduction here at the shelter to ensure a good match! Rico, to our knowledge, has never been around cats before, so we would strongly recommend slow, supervised introductions. He also loves his walks, especially when there are squirrels to watch. He may pull at the start of an exciting adventure, but he quickly relaxes into a nice rhythm. If your bed, home and heart are all feeling a little empty, Rico`s got more than enough love, fluff and, well, Rico, to fill those spaces! Fill out the Adopt from Foster form above if you think he may be just the pup you`ve been looking for.

Story
Location: Parkland County, AB// Age: Approx 8 years// Size: Large// Sex: Female spayed// Energy level: Low/medium// Vaccines: Up to date// Dogs: Yes// Cats: Yes// Kids: Not tested likely okey// Meet Josie the sweetest girl in the world, that is at least how her foster home described her. Josie is low to medium energy, however she loves going on walks. She is very easy going on the leash, no pulling and is a happy camper when it comes to greeting other dogs and people. Josie does great staying at home, she is not destructive at all. Whilst she had some initial issues with howling when left alone, her foster home is working on it with her and have noticed that keeping the TV on when gone helps. She is not the biggest fan of the crate, but does great being left out alone. This sweet girl is calm with other dogs and gets along well with them, she also shows no interest in the fosters cats which further shows how calm and sweet she is. Whilst Josie has not yet been introduced to kids, we believe that with a slow introduction and her calm demeanor she should not have an issue with them. Josie has no issues with resource guarding. She does enjoy the backyard and chasing the squirrels when she can, however on walks she perks up but doesn’t pull when she sees them. Josie is not a big fan of the car as it causes her quite a bit of stress, due to this we believe that she needs a home that does not require frequent car travel and maybe even an adopter close by. Her foster home is currently working on her excited jumps and recall, but they describe her as easy going and a true little gem. When Josie first came to her foster home, she was learning how to play with toys and now she absolutely loves playing fetch. This lovely girl would be an amazing addition to any home. If you think your home would be a good match for Josie, please complete an adoption application on our website and one of our team members will be in touch with you shortly via email to arrange a phone interview.
