Meet Gentleman!🤵This special man is looking for a home to call his own. Gentleman is just as his name suggests, he is a smart, distinguished boy with a big heart and lots of love to share. He loves nothing more than being close to his people. Once he knows you, he's all in! He leans on your legs for comfort and nudges your hands for pets. He's playful, affectionate, and happiest when he's part of your world. While we love him dearly, Gentleman has spent quite a bit of time with us here, and we would all love nothing more than for him to begin his next chapter and settle into his forever home. Finding this special man a home where he can chase a ball, go for quiet, peaceful walks and then cuddle up at your side as your new best friend would make all of our wishes come true!Gentleman has been working very hard to live up to his name. With daily training sessions to perfect his manners, he has made wonderful progress. He can be unsure of new people, and his new family must be committed to continuing to support him in his training as he learns to navigate the world calmly and politely. The ideal adopter would be willing to come meet Gentleman a few times before he is ready to head off to his new life.Like many distinguished gentlemen, our Gentleman has quite the refined palate. Due to severe allergies, he must maintain a strict hypoallergenic diet to keep him looking and feeling his best. Additionally, he is on a daily allergy medication to keep him feeling good and prevent any allergy flare ups. Adopters must be prepared for the costs associated with these medical needs. Gentleman just needs a few things to help him thrive: a calm and patient home, continued training with an AnimalKind trainer and ongoing allergy support and care (his special allergy treatments come to about $225/month)If you think Gentleman sounds like the guy for you please fill out an application today!1.) Visit our centre to meet this pet during adoption viewings Friday to Wednesday noon to 3pm, learn more about their ideal match, and apply to adopt in person; or2.)Submit an online application adopt.spca.bc.ca and staff will contact the first suitable adopter to set-up a visit! Story
*Currently fostered in Houston Texas, available for out of state adoptions via rescue transportation. Video meet and greet available prior to commitment* This dog is a collaborative effort between Moka's Mission and Houston Chow Chow Connection. Mocha is a fluffy mixed pup just eager to find her new lease in life. She was rescued from a kill shelter in Texas just moments before being euthanized. She is believed to be around 4 years old, and based on behaviors definitely has GSD, Chow Chow, and even possibly husky mixed in her as well. Current weight around 65, 70 lbs. Mocha is a smiling, eager to please, extremely intelligent pup who clearly has been desperate for reaching a potential that was never offered to her prior. She loves to play with toys now, ( was unfamiliar with on arrival) and can be quirky, and vocal during her playful bouts. A game of tug which result in some head pats is her favorite. She also is very smart, and when given attention and motivation is quick to learn. She already knows several basic commands including sit, shake, kennel, wait, settle, and leave it. She is extremely versatile and once she trusts you, will give you her best. If you want to go hiking or exercise, she is all about it. If you want a pup to relax in the home and enjoy a movie day, she is ready! She loves to curl up on the couch or at your feet when it's time to settle down, but when it's time to go she is the first one to be there and ready for you. She also loves to keep you company while you do the most menial house chore's such as laundry or dishes. Mocha clearly was kept away from other dogs and animals when she was owned previously, so we do think she'd be best as an only pup. Proper continued socialization training would be required in order for her to eventually be able to share space with other dogs, but she would need to be socialized as an only dog first before considering adding another in. She clearly has a desire to want to know other dogs and can walk by them and flirt while on leash just fine during walks. However, she hasn't had enough time and proper playmates to engage in playtime at present without being rough. Unfortunately, she is not ok with cats, which is to be expected of the breeds she possesses. Mocha is fully vetted meaning she is up to date on vaccinations, spayed, microchipped and on monthly prevention for flea, tick, and heartworm. Her adoption fee and transport is dependent on services used. For more information on Mocha, please contact us at MokasMission@Gmail.com, or to apply for adoption please fill out an application here: https://form.jotform.com/41173109602142

Story
Meet Corky,Corky is a part of a litter that just arrived in our care and are ready to find their forever homes! They are German Shepherd/Lab/Bernese/Mastiff mixes, which means they will be very large dogs! We estimate they could grow to be 90-110 lbs. Life with puppies is joyful, messy, and full of motion. They're in the classic puppy chaos stage - exploring everything with their mouths, bouncing from playtime to nap time in seconds, and occasionally forgetting which items are toys and which are not. Families should be prepared for normal puppy behaviors like chewing, zoomies, and the occasional accident as they grow and learn. Interested applicants should be ready to begin house training, establish routines, and guide them through all the basics that young puppies need to thrive. These pups are also at a crucial age for socialization. They're meeting new people, hearing new sounds, and discovering what the world has to offer. Positive exposure to friendly dogs, gentle handling, and new environments will help them grow into confident, well adjusted adults. Puppy classes or structured positive reinforcement training programs are strongly encouraged, especially given their future size and strength.Corky and his brother have spent some time in a foster home awaiting their neuter surgery. Their foster notes that Corky is the more shy and observant one of the two. He can be a bit nervous with new experiences, so a gentle hand and positive exposure to new things will be essential while he is gaining some confidence. With patience, consistency, and lots of love, Corky will blossom into a loyal, affectionate companion. If you are ready to welcome a new (and large) family member into your life, come down and meet them in person! Please note: For puppies, we prioritize in person applications.*Please note: Corky is being neutered on Jan 21 and won't be available for viewing that day.Adoption hours are 12-3, Tuesday-Sunday (closed on Mondays). Story
Dove is a 4-year-old German Shepherd/Husky mix with a very soft, sensitive soul. She is quite shy and uncertain in new situations and is very much a work in progress. When she feels overwhelmed, Dove tends to cower and looks to her people for comfort and reassurance. With a gentle, patient approach, she does allow affection and finds comfort in calm, quiet interactions. Ideal Home Dove will need a very understanding adopter who recognizes that she is a special-needs dog and is committed to helping her feel safe in the world. She requires a calm, predictable home where her world can be kept small at first, with new experiences introduced slowly and thoughtfully. A confident, friendly dog in the home would be a big benefit for Dove, as she gains reassurance and confidence from other dogs. That said, we are open to applications from homes without another dog, as long as the adopter understands that her training and confidence-building may take more time and patience. Dove will not be placed with young children, older teenagers may be fine but within a quiet household. Because fearful dogs can panic and bolt when uncertain, Dove will need an adopter who is diligent about safety, secure doors and fences, and proper leash management at all times. Training Dove will need continued confidence-building through positive reinforcement, gentle encouragement, and consistent routines. Dove is treat-motivated and enjoys working for food, which will be a great tool for building trust and confidence. Her gentle nature and soulful eyes make her incredibly endearing to those who take the time to get to know her. She will benefit from: Positive, reward-based training Patience and reassurance during new experiences Slow introductions to new people, places, and routines Ongoing confidence-building exercises Dove has not yet been cat tested; we will update her profile as we learn more. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ready to Apply? If you would like to meet Dove, please download an application from our website at: vancouver.ca/adoption-form Then, email your complete application to: animal.shelter@vancouver.ca If your application is approved, we will contact you to arrange a meet and greet. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- All adult dogs at Animal Services have veterinary health checks, and are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, dewormed and defleaed (if necessary) before going to their new homes. Story
At just 11 months old, Santiago is the perfect mix of puppy charm and growing confidence. He’s a happy, curious boy who loves to explore, play, and be near his people. Whether it’s going for walks, chasing toys, or learning new tricks, Santiago is always up for some fun—and he’s a quick learner, too! He gets along great with other dogs and would thrive in a home that can keep up with his playful energy while also giving him the love and guidance all young dogs need. Santiago is currently in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, so we can’t arrange a meet-and-greet, but don’t worry—once adopted, he’ll fly north and his new family will just need to pick him up at the airport. It’s an exciting way to welcome a new best friend! If you’re looking for a sweet, social pup to grow up with, Santiago is ready to meet you
