Greetings, my foster mom calls me Nellie even though I have previously been listed on my bio page as Nola. My foster mom and the family think I am the most marvelous dog in the world! (Well, that's maybe a bit of an exaggeration but let's just say they think I'm a really great dog.) Jumpin jiminy and hoooooowlalujah. My turn has come to find a loving family of my own.Found chained to a male German Malinois in a very dirty and nasty place, so I could have puppies to sell, my owners had no regard for me as a living soul. Because I was young and couldn't get pregnant, I was beaten and very scared. I was put up for sale, so my rescuers bought me to save my life.I am a girl full of life and I am both happy and playful, not to mention social.Being the clever and eager to please girl, I will be easily trainable. The fact I love food helps. lol. You'll find me funny, as well as affectionate. I am well-mannered and have an incredibly agreeable personality. My temperament is one of loyalty and cuddliness. Caresses are like, my thing. I enjoy following my person around to get lots of love and attention.Due to my past situation, I do sometimes startle somewhat easily at loud noises or voices. Given a consistent & loving environment to nurture me along, these reactions will continue to diminish over time. I just need time to learn I am safe now. I also do not like being kept in small spaces, like a crate. I get depressed being in one.The fact I am curious and loving adds to my charm and provides for a nice disposition. I'm can be great with older kids but I have some fears of small moving humans so it's best if I'm not in a home with young children. Haven't been around meowies but when I pass by one on walks I'm quite calm and I just look at them. If they were to run away from me, there is a likelihood that I will chase them although I've never been known to attack any being. I also love to run while I'm on leash whenever I see rabbits or squirrels but again, I'm not really a hunter so it's likely just the game of chase that interests me. That being said, I might not be a good fit in a home with a pet rabbit.Oh, I am an energetic dog too, so if you are into hiking and dog sports, I'm right there ready to take on the challenge to learn. I've not been around water enough to know whether I like being in water. The one occasion that I was at the beach, I waded into the water but it was clearly not my favourite activity.

Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you.
Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website.

[MID-EAST] *Vaccinations: Dogs from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. Bordetella is not given, as that has not been a problem in the Middle East.[TURKEY] Dogs from Turkey receive a 4D SNAP test to include Heartworm, Ehrlichiosis, Leishmania and Anaplasmosis.
