Story
Sapphire is a 3-year-old Labrador Shep mix who’s as friendly and happy as they come. Weighing around 60–65 lbs, she could benefit from a little weight loss and luckily, she loves her walks! Volunteers say she’s a lovely walker: she might pull a bit at first due to excitement and her love of sniffing everything in sight, but she settles down quickly and is easy to redirect. This beautiful girl is a social butterfly who enjoys the company of both people and other dogs. She gets excited when she sees other pups and wants to play, so a well-matched canine sibling could be a great fit. Sapphire hasn’t been tested with cats, so her compatibility with them is unknown. She’s food-motivated (sometimes a little too motivated!) and may try to grab food off the ground. She can also be a bit snappy when taking treats, so gentle handling and continued positive training will go a long way. Sapphire would do well in a variety of home settings, including apartments, as long as her exercise and enrichment needs are met. She’s suited to a family with children aged 8 and up who can understand her food boundaries and help her keep building good habits. Looking for a sweet, affectionate, and active companion? Sapphire is ready to be your loyal sidekick! Other dogs in the home: Well matched but she likes most dogs so far Cats: Unknown, we cannot test Children: Yes 8+ as she grabs little hands Apartments: Yes should be ok ------------------------------------------ At City of Vancouver Animal Services, we have a foster-to-adopt program whereby prospective new owners foster the adoptable animal for 21 days before committing to adoption. This ensures that both the new owner and the adoptable animal are well suited to each other. Adoption Fee $374 Includes: -Spay/Neuter -First set of shots -Microchip -Bag of food If you live in Vancouver, you will also need to buy a dog license.

Story
Meet Marvel - Your Next Adventure Buddy! Marvel is a bright, bouncy young pup who's full of love and ready to bring joy to his forever family. With his wagging tail and enthusiastic personality, Marvel makes every day feel like a celebration. He greets everyone like a long-lost friend and can't wait to meet the people who will become his people. Marvel is house trained and eager to learn. He's a smart, food-motivated boy who responds beautifully to praise and guidance. With a little consistency, he's showing great progress in his leash skills and manners - he loves having a job to do and thrives on positive reinforcement. This affectionate, playful pup would do best in a calm home where he can settle into a routine and enjoy lots of love, enrichment, and outdoor adventures. Marvel adores interactive games and training activities that challenge his clever mind and channel his energy in fun ways. Marvel would prefer to be the only pet in the home so he can soak up all your attention and continue building his confidence. Because he's still perfecting his skills, he’d also be happiest in a household with older kids or teens who can help support his training journey. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion to join you on hikes, play sessions, and cozy evenings, Marvel could be your perfect match. He’s ready to be your partner in adventure—and in cuddles! ------------------------------------------ At City of Vancouver Animal Services, we have a foster-to-adopt program whereby prospective new owners foster the adoptable animal for 21 days before committing to adoption. Good with dogs,
Story
Hi friends! My name is Laika (Loretta in Mexico) and here's more about me: PHYSICAL INFO: Breed: German Shepherd mix Age: 8 months approx.  Gender: Female Weight: 37lbs (17 kg)  Length: 55cm  Height: 46cm  Current Location: Guadalajara Mexico RESCUE STORY - I was rescued on December 1, 2024, at just 45 days old. My superhero hooman rescuer heard about me - a tiny puppy found alone wandering on the street. Although I showed no signs of physical abuse, it was clear that I had been abandoned by my previous 'family'. Thanks to my foster hooman's tender love and care however, I have been able to thrive and grow into the gentle, sweet and loving pup I am today! TEMPERAMENT - The hoomans around me describe me as a sweet, shy pup with a gentle soul. I am playful, affectionate, friendly, and I get along wonderfully with doggos of all sizes. I have grown into a very obedient and loving companion, who is easily motivated by sausage treats and mangoes. Although I can be shy, I love to be around the hoomans and I get super excited when my foster comes home. I always greet them with joy, knowing a big hug is coming. Besides that, I am a calm pup who likes to play with my favourite toys - Plastic bottles, water jug caps, and empty toilet paper rolls!  ENERGY LEVEL - Low GETS ALONG WITH: Kids – Unknown (no video footage provided) but testing can be done :) Dogs – I get along well with other pups and currently live with many other doggos at my foster's house! Cats – Unknown (no video footage provided) but I currently live with a cat  PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I’m not too sure how I’ll react around squirrels/rabbits etc. My adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise. TRAINING: Leash skills – My rescuers say I am okay with my leash skills, however I may need some additional patience and training  House trained – My rescuer says I am okay with this but I may need some additional training and patience.  Crate trained – My rescuer says I am okay with this but I may need some additional training and patience.  Car rides – My rescuer says I am good with this but I may need some additional training and patience.  Please Note: WCP highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives.  HEALTH NOTES:  I am spayed and vaccinated. NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter. ADOPTION FEE: My adoption fee is $840.00 CAD including tax (5% GST, 7% PST), which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver. ------------------------------------- DISCLAIMER: Please visit wcpdogrescue.com to read about West Coast Paws Dog Rescue and it's adoption process. The info included in each WCP bio is provided to us from the international rescuer. WCP does not have in-person access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions, although we ask for video proof of a dog's attributes wherever possible. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person(s) adopting them and the environment in which they live.  WCP is unable to guarantee the accuracy of a dogs age and/or breed.
