Story
Sweet little Poppy,This beautiful girl is ready to find the perfect place to come into her own and let her big personality shine! Coming from a living condition that wasn't ideal, this little puppy cant wait to find a home where she's as spoiled as she was always meant to be! Coming from an environment where she was wasn't exposed to many new things, this shy gal needs a calm, quiet, home where she can have the guidance of an experienced paw-rent. She will greatly benefit from lots of puppy/training classes, and other socialization activities! She's nervous of new people, and her confidence is still growing, but with treats and a slow approach she warms up quickly. Poppy is a brave pup, with so many new people, sounds and smells around her she's cautiously come out of her shell and is showing us how fun and sweet she can be! She can't wait to fill your hearts and home with all the love she's got inside her tiny little body. Though a small puppy now, we are unsure what breeds make up this special girl, so be prepared for a medium to large dog once she's all grown up. Based off of some of her personality quirks and her looks we believe she is mixed with a touch of German Shepherd and a touch of a cattle dog. Please note Poppy is not in our shelter at this time and therefore unavailable for walk in meet and greets. If you think Poppy could be the addition you've been looking for, you can submit an adoption application by following the link below.https://spca.bc.ca/survey/dog-adoption-application-cowichan/ Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: Tan Weight: 11.3 Age: 0yrs 6mths 0wks

Story
Rosie is a shy Shepherd/Rottweiler mix looking for a patient and calm forever home with a consistent routine. She is shy of new people and situations, but with a slow introduction she warms up quickly. She spooks at loud noises on walks, and would do best in a quiet neighbourhood where she can build her confidence before going on bigger and bigger adventures. She has lived peacefully with dogs in the past, but young children may be too unpredictable for her. Rosie would do best in a dog-savvy home that is willing to go slow with her and help her overcome her separation anxiety. She can be quite vocal when she is left alone, and potential adopters will need to work on gradual departures and desensitization with her. Another confident dog would likely help with Rosie's confidence, and having a safe outdoor space where she can feel secure to get her zoomies out is ideal. Please come into the shelter during visiting hours if you would like to meet Rosie. You can also submit an application online if you would like to save some time when you come visit. While we do welcome online applications, in person meets have top priority.cats:https://spca.bc.ca/survey/cat-adoption-application-vancouver/dogs:https://spca.bc.ca/survey/dog-adoption-application-vancouver/Our visiting hours are:Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday: 12-4:30Thursday, Public Holidays: closedSaturday, Sunday: 12-4 Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: Tan Weight: 32.7 Age: 0yrs 9mths 1wks

Story
4 year old Trini is a shelter sweetheart, with a lovely disposition, and very popular with the volunteers, as she is a calming influence. Trini was abandoned on a road near the SPCA PV sanctuary and was lucky to be taken into care as she was malnourished, and surely tired from trying to survive. She is a mixed breed – our guess is lab shepherd cross, with a beautiful lean physique and expressive eyes. She is full grown at 41 lbs. Trini is a wise girl, who reads people and dogs well. If they seem threatening, she avoids them, but if welcoming, she approaching with kindness. Trini is also good with cats showing a similar wise approach when she was tested. She would ignore them in a non threatening way, and then explore smelling them when it felt safe. Trini is also good in the car, curious about the adventure, and she has been a shelter ambassador at a Saturday market. Trini is healthy, spayed and vaccinated and looking for a better life with a family who will love her. Trini is in care at the sanctuary in Mexico but has flight options to Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, or Seattle. This girl is a gem!

Story
Sweet Keisha is looking for a home. She is 40 lb shepherd x lab with a kind and brave soul, who just melts into the arms of those kind enough to give her affection. Keisha was found in Puerto Vallarta, skinny and hungry, trying to care for and protect her litter of 6 puppies. She had dug a small hole to hide them as she stood over them, chained up, until thankfully the angels of the SPCA PV came to rescue them. After her rescue, they learned that Keisha was also blind, they believe from poisoning. Keisha's pups all inherited her kind soul and affection for humans. And we hope that Keisha herself will find her own happiness. Naturally because she can't see, she enjoys sniffari walks, to take in the world around her, and would love a safe property to explore her world in between cuddles with a family that this time would love her. If you think you may be able to give Keisha a home, we'd love to hear from you at pvcaadoptions@gmail.com. You can also go directly to our application here: https://forms.office.com/r/b1Fkq3u4zw

Story
Keisha – 37 lbs, 3 year old Shepherd cross is looking for a home. Keisha is a super sweet and smart girl, and sweetheart to the volunteers who visit her at the SPCA PV sanctuary. Keisha was found in the hills around Puerto Vallarta tied up, hungry, trying to care for and protect her 6 young pups. After her rescue the SPCA PV learned that Keisha is blind from being poisoned. Despite this tough early life, Keisha is very sweet and friendly with humans and dogs (she is even ok being carried). On her walks she doesn't pull and likes to sniff a lot (her nose is her eyes). Keisha is spayed, vaccinated, healthy, and now has a full belly every day, which makes her very happy. She'd love to make up for a tough early start with a warm loving home. If interested, please email pvcaadoptions@gmail.com and tell us a little about yourself.
