Story
Forrest is about 4 years old. We adopted him from the Orange County Shelter. He is very sweet/loving with people and kids. He is very protective of his home. He loves cuddling and sleeping in bed but is also very high energy loves to run and play. He is very food motivated! He needs constant enrichment. He has shown reactivity/aggression towards other dogs but is very people friendly. We were not given a history of his behavior with other owners but we are not willing to risk our other dog's safety. He would be better off with a family who is active and has no other animals. He just wants to be the center of your attention. He is house trained and knows a few tricks and does well in the crate if needed.

Story
Meet Blitzen. And yes—he lived up to the name. Blitzen was found in the middle of nowhere. No house. No people. Just a tired, older German Shepherd trying to survive on his own. A good Samaritan did the right thing and took him to the shelter, hoping that would mean safety. Instead, because Blitzen is around 7 years old and developed a simple upper respiratory infection in the shelter, he was scheduled to be euthanized on Christmas Day. Let that sink in. Old. Sick. Inconvenient. Disposable. Except… he wasn’t. We pulled him in a last-minute blitz (so yeah, the name fits). When he walked out of that shelter, it was impossible not to see the truth: Blitzen is gentle, loving, and completely drama-free. He doesn’t bark for attention. He doesn’t demand anything. He just leans into you like he’s been waiting years for someone to choose him. When we got him, he was emaciated and riddled with tapeworms—his body told the story his mouth never could. He’s now receiving treatment, eating well, and slowly remembering what it feels like to be cared for. And here’s the thing that will wreck you in the best way: Despite everything, Blitzen trusts people. He loves: Walks and easy runs Car rides (he’s an excellent co-pilot) Hugs, affection, and quiet companionship Being close to his human—no chaos, no nonsense, just connection Blitzen is currently with a temporary foster in Dayton, NV, but this is not a long-term solution. He urgently needs another foster or—better yet—a forever home where he can spend the rest of his days safe, fed, and deeply loved. He’s not asking for much. Just a couch. A hand on his head. And a promise that he’ll never be thrown away again. If you’ve ever said you’d adopt a senior dog “one day”… this is that day. If you believe older dogs still deserve happy endings… this is your chance to prove it. 👉 Apply to foster or adopt Blitzen: https://muttsandrunts.org/application Blitzen survived when he shouldn’t have. Now let’s give him the life he always deserved.
