Story
Sex: FemaleBreed: German Shepherd x Estimated Date of Birth : 04/05/2023Sweet, social, amazing these are all perfect words to describe Trixie. Shes an incredibly affectionate girl ready to find a new family of her own! Want dog social? She’s got you covered. Want loving? She’s all that and more. Want happy and fun? She can do that too! She’s a great dog who sadly was returned through no fault of her own. It’s been a rough year in rescue. Adoptions are slow and then there are the returns. Good dogs who should have had their forever homes but sadly lose that home through no fault of their own. Trixie is one of those dogs. Adopted as a tiny puppy this sweet girl lost her family due to their personal medical issues. It’s not her fault but sadly her life changes because of the change in family circumstances. As thankful as we are to give our dogs a safe place to return it doesn’t change how much that return hurts our hearts. Thankfully Trixie is a really good girl and we’re going to give her every opportunity to be seen yet again. She’s headed into our Pawsitive Change prison program at North Kern State prison starting in May. Not only will she gain invaluable training skills but the program will boost her visibly and hopefully find her a new family to love. She deserves this chance and we can’t wait to watch her shine! Story
Sex: Male Breed: German Shepherd xEstimated Date of Birth : 07/12/2019Linus is a good boy! Both dog and people friendly his happy nature is what originally caught our eye. Happy shelter dogs are typically happy dogs once they’re out of the shelter too. They’re happy to have a chance, happy to be with you and happy to be alive. Those same happy dogs do really well in our prison programs. They help the shy dogs come out of their shells and aren’t typically bothered by the noises and activity in a prison environment. So we’ve given happy Linus the chance he needed. He’s joined the crew in our Victorville woman’s program. He’ll spend the next 3 months learning the basic obedience tasks most adopters want adoptable dogs to know. He may have lingered in the shelter but Pawsitive Change will give him the skills he needs to be noticed. Sometimes that’s all these young energetic dogs need. Just enough training to change their lives for the better. Once Linus has graduated he’ll be ready for a forever home. He’ll be looking for a fun and active family and would love some canine pals too. He’ll be looking for a family that will enforce the training he’s received and he’d love a home that will keep him forever. If you’ve been looking for a happy boy Linus just might be the one for you. Story
Sex: MaleBreed: German Shepherd Estimated Date of Birth : 09/08/2017A family of three was very loyal indeed. We’d expect nothing less from a German Shepherd. Gideon, Gracie and Griffen are the steadfast protectors you never knew you needed. Devoted until the end that’s what we love most about this breed. They have the resilience to overcome and the steadfast presence to persevere. They are strong, proud and absolutely beautiful. To know a shepherd is to love everything they were bred to be and these three are wonderful examples of why German Shepherds are so beloved. This family has shown incredible heart and amazing forgiveness for the life of neglect they once led. Abandoned by their humans when those humans were evicted. They were literally left to fend for themselves in a fenced in backyard with no access to food or water in the middle of summer. They were thin, flea infested and had a myriad of skin issues. Their previous family had provided them with minimal care and they held so little value they were left behind like trash. They could have died in that backyard but we are so thankful Good Samaritans exist. The kindness of one human is what kept these dogs alive. Food and water was provided daily for weeks and that human started networking these dogs to find them the help they needed most…rescue. That’s where we stepped in. We had the space, the resources and the time to get these dogs healthy enough for adoption. This family has shown their appreciation for their rescue with endless devotion to each of their rescuers. They are incredibly sweet and so thankful for everything they’ve been given. Gideon, the father, is a mature gentleman who wears his previous hard life on his exterior. He walks nicely on leash and is gentle, affectionate and just a bit timid in new situations. Gracie, the mom, loves to explore and smell all the things. She’s a total sweetheart and a lover of all kinds of attention. Griffen, the puppy, is a highly trainable dude. He’s learning how to be a puppy and working on basic manners and leash skills. All three get along beautifully but don’t have to be adopted together. They will thrive in separate adoptive homes and are just so thankful to have their 2nd Chance. Story
Sex: MaleBreed: German Shepherd xEstimated Date of Birth : 09/01/2022Beauty and personality all rolled in to one. Godfrey is such an amazing dog! He’s the kind of dog you dream about. A wonderful middle of the pack energy, stunning good looks and the sweetest temperament you could ever imagine. Hes a people pleaser and an absolute dream!!! This beautiful boy wants nothing more than a family to call his own. He loves everything about family life. He loves the people, he loves other dogs, he loves walks and fun outside time, he loves chilling on the couch while you watch movies. He loves it all and we love him!Can you believe such a great dog lingered in our city shelter? Lingered simply because there are too many dogs and not enough interest or adopters. It breaks our heart to think how many great dogs die in shelters every day. They die through no fault of their own but because humans couldn’t be responsible. The dogs that suffer the most are medium and large breeds like Godfrey no matter how beautiful or how great they may be. We are so thankful an amazing foster family stepped up to give Godfrey a chance. Their help not only saved a life but it’s allowed us to see how Godfrey acclimates to home life. Godfrey is doing fantastic and just about any family would be lucky to have him. His foster mom reports that he’s very affectionate, non-reactive, chill but always down for a fun game of fetch, does pretty well on leash, loves toys and loves any kind of affection. He needs a secure fence in his future home and people willing to shower him with all the love he fully gives back. Godfrey is officially adoption ready so our goal is to find him a family just as perfect as he is. Maybe that’s you! Story
Sex: Female Breed: German Shepherd xEstimated Date of Birth : 08/29/2021Another momma in need. We love these momma dogs. They are strong, they are survivors and their nurturing tendencies transition into their adoptive homes. They tend to bond quickly and become the protectors their family needs. They’re loyal and kind and because they’ve cared for other living souls they care deeply for their families. They have some of the biggest hearts and Opal is everything we love about a momma dog in need. This sweet girl was picked up as a stray with two tiny puppies. Puppies so tiny their eyes weren’t even open yet. We have to wonder if there had been others in the litter that didn’t survive. But Opal protected her remaining babies with her life. She needed to get them somewhere safe and lucky for her she was picked up by animal control and taken to our city shelter. Those two remaining babies probably wouldn’t have survived life on the streets. Opal and her babies were then picked up by our rescue and have thrived at our rescue ranch. Opal was an amazing and protective mother and her babies have grown into healthy and vibrant puppies now ready for adoption. With her mothering duties complete it’s time we focus on what Opal needs most…a home. She’s given of herself and she deserves to have someone give to her. Someone who will value everything she’s sacrificed and give her the family she’s never had. If you love the sweet moms as much as we do please consider giving Opal the family that she’s always dreamed of. Give Opal her home.
