Story
Looking for a funny, sweet, and smart as a whip companion? Then Sugar is your girl. Sugar is a year old German Shepard/Shar-pei/Pit-bull mix, and she’s got the brains to back up the breed. She’s energetic, playful, curious, and always down for a cuddle. Sugar is a whiz at tricks, and knows sit, down, heel, roll-over, and spin already (if you have a treat to give)! She can be reactive, and does prefer to be your only friend, but she will absolutely make up for it with all the love she can give. Based on Sugar’s age and energy levels, she is required to be signed up for training classes. Now, stop on by and give Sugar some sugar!

Story
Info about dog: Name: Kylo 8y/o pure bred German Shepherd Behavior pros: neutral around strangers (people), fairly good recall, he lives with another confident large dog and does well with her after a slow introduction Behavior cons: leash and fence reactive to other dogs, high prey drive (not good with small dogs, cats, chickens) Reason for giving up: We do not have time to devote to him and his training. We hope another family can give him lots of love and attention. Notes: Ideally who adopts him would need a privacy fence or to live in the country because of his reactivity and because he likes to be outside :)

Story
Hops truly lives up to his name! He looks just like a frolicking bunny hopping through the grass! Hops is a goofy young boy who started off very scared at the shelter with all the loud noises. He would hide in the back of his kennel, but as soon as you take him out, he is the HAPPIEST clown around! Hops is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and ready to be adopted by a fun family to call his own!

Story
New Year was rescued off a euthanasia list with her puppies just in time. We figured what better way to ring in 2026 and a fresh start than the name New Year! New Year has wrapped up her motherly duties and is hoping to find a home of her own. She enjoys attention from her friends at the shelter and loves to lean into the pets she gets. She has a laid-back personality and a gentle demeanor. She is a smart girl that knows "sit", "paw", and "down" commands. She likes to play fetch and played well with another dog at this weekend's adoption event. Apply now! All Pet Central animals are up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, spayed or neutered, microchipped (registration included), and current on parasite prevention. Dogs over six-months of age are heartworm tested. When adopting, we will ensure that you receive copies of veterinary and microchip records. Records are sent via email. Paper versions are available upon request. If you are interested in this pet, please fill out the brief Adopter Survey by hitting "Apply for Adoption" on the profile above. After we review your completed survey, we will contact you by phone or email within three business days. Please note- Out of respect for our volunteers and staff, we are closed on Sunday and Monday and will not be processing any applications on those days. Please get back to us right away when we call or email regarding an application so that we can quickly connect using the process below: Select a pet and submit an online adoption survey. A PCH! adoption counselor will contact potential adopters within three business days (PCH! cannot guarantee any pet's availability, but we make every effort to accommodate adopters with a reply and possible alternative suggestions). An adoption counselor and client will then have a conversation to answer questions, discuss any medical needs for the pet and determine the suitability of a match (if necessary, we may opt to put adopters in touch with foster parents). After a match is made, clients will be asked to sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee online through our secure payment system *Please see our modified no-risk return policy. (below) The PCH! adoption counselor will then set up a specific appointment time and location. Adopters should bring a pet carrier and/or a leash to pick up and their ID. Adult pets will be wearing a collar. It is important that clients arrive on time, neither early nor late. Cats and kittens are required to leave in a pet carrier. If your adoption is scheduled at Pet Central Helps!: Upon arrival inside the Crossroads Center complex (360 Wylie Drive), look for the black Pet Central Helps! semi-trailer, which is right outside of our facility (Suite 720). Park in the parking lot and enter the facility. A PCH! representative will greet you and show you to the adoption room. Your new pet will be handed to you. We will take a "Happy Adoption Day” photo with your pet and family. If your adoption is scheduled at PetSmart – Bloomington, IL: Park in the PetSmart (1606 E. Empire St.) Parking lot and enter the store. We will be set up just inside the store entrance. Let us know you are here to pick up your pet! A PCH! representative will confirm your information and hand you your pet. We will take a "Happy Adoption Day” photo with your pet and family. If your adoption is scheduled at the Cat’s Meow Cafe: Navigate to PetSmart, park in the parking lot and enter the store. Locate a PCH! Representative at our adoption table and let them know you are picking up a Cat Cafe Cat. You will sign your final contract with your counselor and snap a picture of the completed screen. Head to the Cat’s Meow Cafe at 507 N. Hershey Rd and provide them with the snapshot of your final contract. They will get your cat and take a “Happy Adoption Day” photo with your pet and family. PCH! supports a 30-day no-fault return policy in which adopters are given the opportunity to find a better match. If we cannot provide advice/tools to keep a pet in the home we offer these options: Exchange for a pet that may be a better match** Receive a refund minus a $40 processing fee** With this approach, we can often turn mismatches into opportunities! Thank you, Pet Central Helps!
