Story
Max is a 6-month old germen shepherd who is special needs. Prior to Max coming to us he was noted to have seizures in his home. Since being in our care Max has not experience any seizure episodes. He is partially blind to the point our vet best believes he can only see shadows and items that are right in front of him due to this we did make an appointment for him to be seen at U of I neurology. He also has some neurological issues that cause a decrease in learning speed/ability. He is still able to learn like a regular dog it will just take him a lot longer and require more patience. Just like with any 6- month old dog we would recommend getting proper training classes for him, it would be best to speak with your vet about the best place to go for him. Due to his neurological concerns he was seen at U of I to confirm he is partially blind and that he will have a learning disability all his life. They do recommend possible further testing such as MRI and spinal tap but it is not currently needed at this time. We would recommend discussing any further testing with your veterinarian. He has been in his foster home since upon intake so about 4 months now. He is fully vaccinated and received a negative heartworm test. He will do best in a home that is patient with learning with him. He took about a week to two weeks to fully adjust to the foster home and learn his routine. He has been working on potty training, crate training and overall manners in his foster home. In his foster home he does live with three other dogs and two cats and gets along with them swimingly. Here are some of Max's foster provider's favorite qualities about Max: Loves pup cups Loves peanut butter lick mats and Kongs He loves tug of war Bigger stuffed animals/soft toys are his favorite kinds Loves being outside Plays and loves being around other dogs Very cuddly Gets super excited after us arriving home Does best with a routine Since Max is available through a foster home, he is NOT physically at CCHS. If you are interested in adopting, please submit an online application, once your application is approved, we will schedule a time to meet with Max!

Reggie is a 4 year old Shepherd. He would need a home with someone experienced in Shepherds and that has time to give him lots of attention, exercise and additional training. No children as he can get anxious around them. He is a sweet boy that loves to play ball, take walks and loves attention.

Paper versions are available upon request. If you are interested in this pet, please fill out the brief Adopter Survey by hitting "Apply for Adoption" on the profile above. After we review your completed survey, we will contact you by phone or email within three business days. Please note- Out of respect for our volunteers and staff, we are closed on Sunday and Monday and will not be processing any applications on those days. Please get back to us right away when we call or email regarding an application so that we can quickly connect using the process below: Select a pet and submit an online adoption survey. A PCH! adoption counselor will contact potential adopters within three business days (PCH! cannot guarantee any pet's availability, but we make every effort to accommodate adopters with a reply and possible alternative suggestions). An adoption counselor and client will then have a conversation to answer questions, discuss any medical needs for the pet and determine the suitability of a match (if necessary, we may opt to put adopters in touch with foster parents). After a match is made, clients will be asked to sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee online through our secure payment system *Please see our modified no-risk return policy. (below) The PCH! adoption counselor will then set up a specific appointment time and location. Adopters should bring a pet carrier and/or a leash to pick up and their ID. Adult pets will be wearing a collar. It is important that clients arrive on time, neither early nor late. Cats and kittens are required to leave in a pet carrier. If your adoption is scheduled at Pet Central Helps!: Upon arrival inside the Crossroads Center complex (360 Wylie Drive), look for the black Pet Central Helps! semi-trailer, which is right outside of our facility (Suite 720). Park in the parking lot and enter the facility. A PCH! representative will greet you and show you to the adoption room. Your new pet will be handed to you. We will take a "Happy Adoption Day” photo with your pet and family. If your adoption is scheduled at PetSmart – Bloomington, IL: Park in the PetSmart (1606 E. Empire St.) Parking lot and enter the store. We will be set up just inside the store entrance. Let us know you are here to pick up your pet! A PCH! representative will confirm your information and hand you your pet. We will take a "Happy Adoption Day” photo with your pet and family. If your adoption is scheduled at the Cat’s Meow Cafe: Navigate to PetSmart, park in the parking lot and enter the store. Locate a PCH! Representative at our adoption table and let them know you are picking up a Cat Cafe Cat. You will sign your final contract with your counselor and snap a picture of the completed screen. Head to the Cat’s Meow Cafe at 507 N. Hershey Rd and provide them with the snapshot of your final contract. They will get your cat and take a “Happy Adoption Day” photo with your pet and family. PCH! supports a 30-day no-fault return policy in which adopters are given the opportunity to find a better match. If we cannot provide advice/tools to keep a pet in the home we offer these options: Exchange for a pet that may be a better match** Receive a refund minus a $40 processing fee** With this approach, we can often turn mismatches into opportunities! Thank you, Pet Central Helps!
