Parents were both police dogs, very smart, listens to commands, high energy and lovable! He’s not aggressive, but wouldn’t recommend with other pets due to his nature. Very playful and would be a loyal friend for the right owner!

Story
We found this german shepherd on a country road in Clinton County, outside of Rossville IN. We believe she was dumped. We have had her for 3-4 months. We took her to the vet in Rossville and they estimated she was 1 year old or less. She had no microchip, she has not been spayed and she is currently in heat. We posted her on many shelter and humane society sites in the area with nobody claiming her. By herself, she is a good pup, loyal, listens, can sit, and invisible fence trained. However, with our other two dogs, she is a handful. She is starting to intimidate our silver lab that is just under 2 years old. Our 9 year old Labradane then joins in and we just feel bad for our silver lab being ganged up on. She is not house trained and is chewing everything she can find even with plenty of chew toys. We think this might be anxiety from being dumped. She is very vocal when playing and will always bark when strangers come around.

Story
Meet Roxanne! She is a 3 year old German Shepherd. Roxanne loves to go on walks, trails and hiking. She enjoys car rides and the occasional mini adventures to the local farm stores, hardware store or park. Roxanne is a typical GSD whose owners failed horribly when it came to keeping her safe social, and balanced. She is crate trained and house broken. She is a very sweet loving girl who was dealt a bad hand in life, well no more! Roxanne has been nothing but amazing since day 1. I actually never experienced any behaviors when meeting her. She took to us like she knew us always. Roxanne enjoys running and cycling, she also loves playing with toys. She is very food motivated and eager to learn as you can see, she could loose a few pounds. We have worked on socializing her, modifying her fearful behavior, exposing her to people and dogs of all sizes, and she's doing great. Roxanne is dog friendly and does not mind birds, ducks, roosters, hens, pigs, However no small dogs with personality/attitude problems. So that means taking no chance ever! ABSOLUTELY NO LITTLE DOGS UNDER 30 POUNDS EVER. We prefer a home with NO CHILDREN due to her fearful history. Although she did live in a home with teenagers at one point. She arrived at the sanctuary because her family could no longer keep her. She is a Hurricane Harvey survivor. She was adopted, but then re-homed. And re-homed 2 other times. Her last owner did not have the experience she needed and wanted to euthanize after she and their other dog who happened to be little got into a scuffle. They admit their little dog always bullied Roxanne and she finally had it. We were also informed Roxanne had trust issues with strangers and would hard bark. Well... She did just that when I met her, within 5 minutes i was walking with her on leash. Roxanne will need continued training, her new person must be breed experienced, active, and willing to pick up her training where we leave off, so she can be the great dog she was meant to be. She is great with dogs but no little dogs at all or dogs with attitude issues, no cats due to prey drive, however, a nice fence in yard is preferred. Children over the age of 12 is a possibility, if matured, best who have been around GSD. Roxanne is house and crate trained, up to date on all appropriate core vaccines including lepto, rabies, de-wormed, fecal tested negative, micro chipped, neutered, and on monthly heart-worm/flea/tick prevention. FREE TRAINING FRESHERS and a life time support from us. Updated: 2/1/2023 www.animalhousesanctuary.org We believe training is an ongoing process that needs to be worked on daily. New issues that arise, need to be addressed and/or rewarded. Understanding that continued training is a lifetime commitment, is very important. Out-of-state adopters are welcome at the adopter's expense. Meet & Greets are a required before proceeding with an adoption. We DO NOT ship any of our pets.

Story
Meet Bruce! A 3 year old young adult dog who lacks confidence and socialization. Bruce is amazingly sweet, Submissive and fairly easy for his breed. I have enjoyed working with Bruce and watching his transformation happen. Exceeding each goal every time but patience is a must! Bruce has met hundreds of folks and kids and done amazing only after a few times of meeting them. Playful, loving, social, happy, outgoing. and with space and time very social. Bruce is dog, cat, all critter friendly, walks amazing on leash, muzzle trained, and super star with basic commands. Bruce needs an active breed experience owner who will continue to help him overcome his fears and challenges while he continues to exceed with training. A home with at least another active playful confidence dog, a nice fence in back yard, as well as a avid walker/jogger/runner, and plenty of mental enrichment work his breed requires is a must. Bruce is house and crate trained, up to date on all appropriate core vaccines including lepto, core as well as rabies, de-wormed, fecal tested negative, micro-chipped, neutered, and on monthly heart-worm flea/tick prevention. Story
Introducing Anavah!!!   Anavah is a STUNNING 4 year old AKC German Shepherd. She weighs 80lbs and is spayed, current on vaccines and healthy! German shepherds were bred to work. They have the endurance and intelligence to accomplish many tasks, which is why they are often used in law enforcement, the military, and search and rescue.  They’re also known to be protective, confident, loyal, and brave. They have the ability and desire to learn. Although they also make loving pets, it should never be forgotten that it’s in their nature to live with purpose. German shepherds also have a high prey drive. Although prey drive can vary greatly between each dog, working and sporting breeds have a much higher prey drive than non-working breeds. Because of this, owning and training a German shepherd requires some knowledge of the breed as well as their prey drive. Anavah is a true representation of the breed. She is extremely loyal to her people and in fact is one of the more friendly and confident German shepherds we have met! She is very gentle with children! She does very well meeting strangers! She LOVES her toy balls— any type!   However, true to the breed, she does have prey drive and therefore it is recommended she be the only pet OR share a home with a large breed submissive neutered male dog.  She’s going to do best in a rural environment without close neighbors with pets/farm animals. A securely fenced yard or leash walking only. Experience with the breed is a huge plus. We have had her evaluated by Special O.P.S. K-9 Academy Inc. and their head trainer would be happy to talk to any interested adopter about her! Remember we also have a 2 week foster to adopt trial period to make sure it’s a good fit .  We are so excited to place Anavah in her forever home!!     Spayed, microchipped, heartworm/lyme negative, current on vaccines and on monthly prevention. Adoption fee is $100.    If you are interested in meeting and adopting, please submit an application in person or here: https://www.fultoncoanimalcenter.org/application-to-adopt-a-dog Once submitted our staff will review and then contact you to set up a meet & greet! Any other dogs in the home must come for the meet & greet as well! If it's a match, you can take home on the same day!! We do offer a 2 week foster to adopt trial time, to be sure the chosen pet is a good fit, before finalizing the adoption!    Closed Sunday/Thursday    11-4 Saturday/Monday   11-5 Tuesday/Friday    11-6 Wednesday ##2007668##
