Hi there, I'm Alcatraz and I'm 2 years old! I am a sweet boy that loves affection and outside time! As part of my breed, I have quite the energy and love to put myself to work! This would make me a great candidate for an active family! Staying in a shelter kennel isn't ideal for me or my size, so when you come to visit me, I might be a little dirty... What can I say - I enjoy the extra attention I get when staff has to bathe me every 2-3 days! Besides soaking up attention, I like to play with squeaky toys and to go on walks! Shelter staff thinks I would do good with cats but I don't always get along with the dogs that I meet because I enjoy ALL the affection... Have I mentioned that before? iaro is a dog currently housed at Michiana Humane Society in Michigan City, IN. We are working with them to find a forever home for Kiaro. He came to them in April as an owner surrender. Owner stated she had gotten him on Facebook, and only had him for 1 week. He is approximately 5 years old, neutered, vaccinated, and heartworm positive. Heartworm treatment will be provided by either Michiana Humane Society or SAR. He does well with dogs and cats. Only adopters with past German Shepherd or similar breed experience will be considered. Upon assessment with SAR, Kiaro is a great dog who needs a confident owner willing to provide positive reinforcement training. He needs a patient owner willing to go slowly with him, and has some head-shyness. If he feels uncomfortable with your movements, he will provide a light correction, which can seem scary when coming from a 91 lb dog, but does not have the intent to hurt. He also needs some help redirecting his energy when excited. He knows commands and gets along with both men and women. His favorite volunteer at the shelter is a man. Kiaro loves to play, and will fetch all day. He will add a lot of love and entertainment to the right household! Although he is located in Michigan City, IN, transportation can be provided for the right adopter.

Hi, Im rooster! 35# and growing!I love lots of things, mainly my dog friends, chasing ball, and hanging out with my people! I think life is pretty great now but it is bound to be better once I find my perfect family.We aren`t sure how I feel about kids as i haven`t met any yet in the shelter. it can take me some time to warm up so I may benefit from a toddler free home, but we won`t know unless you bring your kids in to meet me. Since I`m just a baby I will need a patient family to show me the ropes of doghood! Luckily my adoption includes a training certificate which can be used toward things like puppy classes that we can do together.
