She is very vocal about new people and things. The best place for her would be a place with no other dogs already in the house and a fenced in yard she can run all her energy off.

Story
Say hello to Shotzy, the Midwest’s champion fetch player and all-around good girl! Shotzy is a 10 year old, 81 pound German Shepherd. If you can throw it, Shotzy will fetch and return it, unless she’s feeling sassy and it becomes a game of keep-away. Shotzy LOVES people and wants to be by your side whatever you’re doing: working in the yard, taking a nap or concentrating at your computer. Bonus points if it includes a car ride. Shotzy knows basic commands and is eager to learn new ones. She is well-behaved and smart as a whip. Shotzy is left free to roam in her home when her foster mom is gone. Shotzy spent the majority of her life chained to a tree in small-town Missouri. Her standard healthcare had been neglected so she came to us with issues from head to tail. Over the last year all her troubles have been addressed and she is now a beautiful example of her breed. She is house-trained, spayed, vaccinated, and micro-chipped. She takes a 16mg Apoquel tablet daily for allergies. Though she loves people and kids, she is not a fan of cats. Shotzy could do well with another large male dog but would be really happy to be the queen of her castle. Shotzy requires a physically fenced yard to run and play safely. If you would like to meet Shotzy, please complete the adoption application on our website: www.furfunrescue.org. If you have questions about Shotzy, you can contact rox@furfunrescue.org or call 319-929-6657. Adopters must be within a two-hour radius of Cedar Rapids, IA. Indoor homes only. Adoption fee $250.

Story
Meet Zeus a 1-1 1/2 year old male German Shepherd. Zeus has a very sweet and goofy personality and would make a great companion. He came to us only weighing 46.4 lbs and was just a mess with the determination and will to live. Zeus has come a long ways and his personality has shown more and more as he started to feel better and gained the much needed weight he so desperately needed. He has a drama king attitude sometimes when we want him to do things and will still do it while vocally protesting can't help but to laugh at him. If you are interested in this awesome goofball stop in to visit him. Our adoption hours are Tuesday-Friday 3-6PM and 1-5PM on the weekends. We are located in Burlington, Iowa. All dog adoptions include a health exam, Rabies, DHPP and Distemper vaccinations, Heartworm check, Sterilization and post surgical pain medication. All cat adoptions include A health check up, FLV and FiV screening, FVRCP and rabies vaccinations, sterilization with pain medications. Please visit our website desmoinescountyhumanesociety.org for more info on any pet listed or to view all of our adoptable pets.
