Story
Adira was found running at large in Memphis and was subsequently brought to a veterinary clinic by a kind MPD Officer. She was severely emaciated and scared. “Addie” as she has come to be known, quickly made herself at home at her Foster’s farm while she gained weight and recuperated. She is now around 65 pounds and estimated to be 2-3 years old. Addie loves to play ball, go on long walks through the woods, run, ride in cars, and snuggle. She is wonderful for baths, tolerates nail trims, and more than anything, just wants to be anywhere her human is. Although she is high energy when the opportunity presents itself, Addie would make a suitable apartment dog for someone who works from home. Her foster family works from home and she spends the entire workday snuggled on her bed beside her foster mom while she works. Addie is kennel trained, but she is a large dog and would not be suited for kenneling all day while family or individual works. Addie will do best with an active lifestyle and plenty of time for play. She does need to be the only dog as she is an alpha female and does not share her humans or her territory. Addie is deeply loyal and very protective. She is friendly to new people if her person is friendly to them. Once adopted she will travel via private transport Rescue Vet (transport cost is $160.00) to a location closest to you. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. KAI was saved from being shot on the streets of Oman by an amazing organization Muscat Dog Adoption. He along with his7 friends were flown into JFK where they were cleared the CDC and then picked up and transported back to Give a Dog a Home Rescue, in Sebec, Maine on 5 April 2024 KAI is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, monthly preventatives, heartworm and tick disease tested negative and is microchipped. He has an estimated date of birth of 30 January 2010 and at the time of transport weighed around 40 pounds. Mixed breed dogs in Oman are referred to as Omani Wadi Dogs, with most of them being Saluki mixes. KAI was one of the favourites of the rescue in Oman, he had been saved and his foot was all mangled and sadly it was deemed it couldn't be fixed and the only option was amputation. He healed and is doing great and having 3 legs doesn't slow him down. He shares a kennel with his Omani friend "Fliss" and they are constantly wrestling and chasing around the kennel run playing - which is beautiful to see them relaxed and having fun after all they have endured. KAI is a very gentle soul who is happy to chill out, but also play and be goofy. He loves having his neck and ears scratched and will make a great snuggle companion, but of course still needs a fair amount of exercise and lots of fun adventures. When Kai was saved his front leg was mangled that the veterinarians were not able to save and so the decision was made to amputate his leg, and as with all amputee's, this doesn't stop him from having fun and living life. He will need joint supplements to help support the extra work and weight his other leg is enduring. We take a lot of pictures and videos and don't always have the time to post them on the dogs individual webpage and adoption site, so we ask that you go to the rescue       YouTube channel       and       photo albums on our Facebook page       to see a LOT of pictures and videos. We are looking for families that have the lifestyle that the dog needs to lead a healthy, both mentally and physically life, who can afford a GOOD quality food, toys and treats and understand the importance of veterinary wellness checks. KAI is located at the rescue in Sebec Maine and is available for a reduced adoption fee of $550. Interested families are required to complete our application process and once approved schedule an appointment to come to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. Our process takes 1-2 days as long as we are able to talk to references, so be prepared to be approved (hopefully) to adopt within a few days of submitting the adoption application. https://giveadogahome-rescue.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=5838 HOUSE TRAINED - All of our dogs are located in the kennel building so we are not able to say if a dog is house-trained, however, they do have access and use the dog door to access their run, play area 24/7. FOOD - We feed a variety of high quality brands and flavors including, chicken, turkey, beef, lamb and fish generally alternated daily. CATS - As the dogs are in the kennels, we are not able to say how they are with cats. Story
Stella is a beautiful, friendly girl of about 8 that we rescued from a high kill shelter in CA. She is laid back and so good! Stella does pretty well on a leash too. She is medium energy, and does have some arthritis etc in her hind end but gets around great, and can do a few stairs. Stella would like to be the only dog in the home, she is non reactive to them on a leash (unless they get too close) so she would be fine on walks etc. This is a sweet girl who deserves a great retirement home! She would be an easy dog to incorporate into your home!

Story
Hugh was rescued from a kill shelter in CA. He is a big, happy goofball of over 100 lbs. He is very puppyish and loves to play. Hugh has been around kids and other dogs, and does fine. He seems to ignore the cats so we believe he will be OK with them. Hugh is mostly housebroken and is crate trained, and is learning to walk nicely on a leash. This guy would like an active home, but does know how to chill - he has done some training in a home environment so is well on his way to knowing his house manners. Hugh will make a great companion - he is a really fun boy! Story
Luna is ready to go home! Luna came to us from CA - her family had moved and left her tied up in the backyard. Luckily the neighbors intervened and she found her way to us! We believe her to be around 2-3 yrs. She's a little peanut....a great size - around 60 lbs. It was clear that Luna had never lived indoors, she was scared to go through doorways etc. When she arrived it was clear she needed a little training....so Luna went to stay at Kompletely K-9 Dog Training and Rehabilitation . She spent 2 weeks there, and learned many new things! She walks nicely on a leash - she will heel and sit. She is very puppylike and wants to play, so she will be a bit of a work in progress - but no different than any other puppy! Luna is very good with other dogs - she lived with one in her original "home", and she has done well with the other dogs at the trainer's too - she really likes our Landon and he is her special friend. Luna LOVES kids. There were also many children at her home in CA. We met some kids at Ales for Tails and she cried when they went away, LOL. Supposedly Luna lived with cats but we cannot confirm how she is with them. She will make an excellent companion for an active home who can give her the exercise and attention she needs! If you are a loving home and would like to open your home and heart to one of our dogs, please fill out our online application to get the approval process started.
