Story
Vida spent her whole life with her previous owners. Due to moving to a place that would not accept pets, Vida is now with us. While in the shelter, we've noticed Vida doesn't like to be approached and will bark, but loves when you take her out for walks. She was known to be very loving and protective of her previous owner and children, but has not been introduced to children since coming to the shelter. Since she is standoffish with new people, it would probably be recommended that she only be around older children. She has been trained: sit, down, stay, come, shake, roll over. Vida's favorite toy: balls She is looking for a family to give her a loving home for the rest of her life. Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: Tan Weight: 69.8 Age: 9yrs 9mths 0wks

Meet Lizzy, a beautiful German Shepherd-Husky mix with a heart full of love and a zest for life! Lizzy came to the shelter as an owner surrender, as her previous family had too many pets to care for. Lizzy is sweet, friendly, and eager to find her forever home.Lizzy is a bundle of energy, always ready for an adventure! She absolutely loves going on walks and playing fetch, showing her playful and athletic side. She's the perfect companion for an active family or individual who enjoys outdoor activities and has the time to give her the exercise and attention she craves. She loves playing tug of war with her people, but a ball or a rope will do as well. She will need to be introduced to new people slowly as she doesn't like when strangers invade her space. Once she gets to know you, she is very comfortable just sharing your space. She will relax and hang out with you after a good tug of war session. If you're looking for a fun-loving, affectionate dog who will keep you on your toes, Lizzy might just be the perfect match for you! Come meet her today and see for yourself how wonderful she is. Story
🐾 Meet Phoenix – A Working-Line German Shepherd Seeking Her Final, Forever Home 🐾 Phoenix is a striking 3–4-year-old German Shepherd whose journey has included both hope and heartbreak. She first came to us as a stray, so much of her early history is unknown—but from the very beginning, she showed herself to be intelligent, confident, and affectionate. She handled the shelter environment remarkably well, kept her kennel clean, and quickly won over staff and volunteers with her outgoing personality and sharp mind. Phoenix has been adopted and returned multiple times, not because she is a bad dog—but because she is a true working-line German Shepherd, and her needs are significant. In a previous home, Phoenix did many things right: she was house trained, crate trained, enjoyed car rides, and did well at the dog park. However, she began displaying protective behaviors in the home, particularly toward guests entering her space. While she was friendly and appropriate in public settings, she became defensive of her home environment. She also showed a strong prey drive toward a resident cat (no contact), so she is not suitable for a home with cats. In another home, Phoenix struggled with resource guarding and dog-to-dog dynamics. She could be controlling with other dogs, leading to scuffles, and was possessive of toys, food, and valued items around people. While she never made contact, she gave clear warning signals when uncomfortable and did not always respond well to correction in those moments. Phoenix is not a “problem dog.” She is exactly what she was bred to be—loyal, intense, intelligent, and protective. Those traits require an experienced, committed handler who understands the German Shepherd breed and is prepared to provide clear leadership, consistency, and structure. Unfortunately, Phoenix has recently been returned once again. This time, her adopter recognized that their lifestyle could not meet her needs and wanted to give her the opportunity for a home with more space and structure. While we appreciate that honesty, our hearts break for Phoenix—this girl has already been moved around far too much, and we desperately want the next home to be her last. Phoenix’s Ideal Home: • Extensive experience with German Shepherds or similar working breeds • No cats • Preferably the only dog in the home • Adults or older, dog-savvy children • A committed handler with a clear plan for training, exercise, and enrichment • A structured routine with meaningful outlets for both mental and physical energy We cannot stress this enough: Phoenix is a working-line German Shepherd. Under that beautiful exterior is a dog who needs engagement, direction, and purpose. If she is not given appropriate outlets, she will create her own—and that often leads to behaviors casual adopters find challenging. Please, please do your research before applying. Have a plan. Be realistic about your time, energy, and commitment. Phoenix deserves stability, understanding, and someone who truly appreciates what a working breed dog needs to thrive. Phoenix has so much to offer the right person—deep loyalty, intelligence, and the kind of bond only a Shepherd can give. We believe her person is out there. She’s just waiting for someone who truly understands her. 📍 Come meet Phoenix and see if you’re the one she’s been waiting for.
