Story
Vida spent her whole life with her previous owners. Due to moving to a place that would not accept pets, Vida is now with us. While in the shelter, we've noticed Vida doesn't like to be approached and will bark, but loves when you take her out for walks. She was known to be very loving and protective of her previous owner and children, but has not been introduced to children since coming to the shelter. Since she is standoffish with new people, it would probably be recommended that she only be around older children. She has been trained: sit, down, stay, come, shake, roll over. Vida's favorite toy: balls She is looking for a family to give her a loving home for the rest of her life. Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: Tan Weight: 69.8 Age: 9yrs 10mths 0wks

Story
Meet Lizzy, a beautiful German Shepherd-Husky mix with a heart full of love and a zest for life! Lizzy came to the shelter as an owner surrender, as her previous family had too many pets to care for. Lizzy is sweet, friendly, and eager to find her forever home.Lizzy is a bundle of energy, always ready for an adventure! She absolutely loves going on walks and playing fetch, showing her playful and athletic side. She's the perfect companion for an active family or individual who enjoys outdoor activities and has the time to give her the exercise and attention she craves. She loves playing tug of war with her people, but a ball or a rope will do as well. She will need to be introduced to new people slowly as she doesn't like when strangers invade her space. Once she gets to know you, she is very comfortable just sharing your space. She will relax and hang out with you after a good tug of war session. If you're looking for a fun-loving, affectionate dog who will keep you on your toes, Lizzy might just be the perfect match for you! Come meet her today and see for yourself how wonderful she is. Primary Color: Grey Secondary Color: Brown Weight: 62.4 Age: 2yrs 1mths 2wks

Story
Meet Whiskey 🖤 Whiskey is a 4-month-old German Shepherd who came to us through no fault of his own. His previous owner made the very selfless decision to surrender him after realizing she couldn’t provide the time, structure, and lifestyle that a young working-breed puppy truly needs. This wasn’t about bad behavior — this was about being realistic. Shepherds are not a “normal pet,” especially at this age. Whiskey is a very sweet-natured pup with a gentle soul, but he’s a bit under-socialized and timid right now. He hasn’t had a lot of hands-on handling or exposure to the world, so new things can make him nervous. He’s still learning how the leash works and doesn’t yet have foundational skills like house training or crate training. That said, this also means he’s a blank slate — ready to learn, grow, and bond deeply with the right person. German Shepherds are intelligent, sensitive, high-drive working dogs. They need mental stimulation, consistent training, physical exercise, and confident guidance. Whiskey will require an active owner or family who understands the breed and is committed to: - Daily exercise and structured activity - Ongoing training and confidence-building - Dedicated socialization to help him learn the world is a safe place - Time, patience, and follow-through He’s going to grow into a large, powerful dog, and it’s incredibly important that he learns how to be confident, well-mannered, and secure in his own skin. Skipping this work now will make life harder for him later — but doing it right will result in an exceptional companion. Whiskey does love other dogs, which is a great confidence booster for him, and he would likely benefit from a well-balanced canine friend or continued positive dog interactions. Whiskey isn’t for everyone — and that’s okay. He’s for someone who wants to put in the work and reap the lifelong reward of raising a shepherd the right way. With time, structure, and dedication, this boy has all the potential to become an incredible dog. If you’ve done your research on German Shepherds and are ready for the commitment, Whiskey may just be your perfect match. 🐾💙

Information: Nylah was brought to the shelter by the sheriff department after being found running at large. She is a sweet girl who seems to be a little on the anxious side. We are unsure at this time if she is just anxious here at the shelter or if this is her normal personality. Shepherds can be somewhat on the anxioius side at times but once out of the shelter she may be more relaxed and definitely less stressed. She is a good girl otherwise who does also seem to know some basic commands. The shelter provides a 5-day health guarantee for adopted animals.
