Location-Wayside’s Canine Behavior Center – I`d love to show off all the cool things I’ve learned at Wayside! Please arrive at the shelter before 4pm on our open adoption days to meet me! My Friends at Wayside say: -I am enrolled in LIFT University. This is a program for dogs to build confidence in new situations and work on managing energy. My adoption comes with a free 30-minute private training session. -I have a lot of energy and need an active adopter! -Chews, Kong-like feeders, puzzle toys—help to keep me entertained!-My previous owner said that I am house-trained!-I am eligible for a Slumber Pawty, a 7-10 day in-home trial period. My home needs are: -I must meet other dogs in the home before adoption to ensure that we can be buddies. Please arrive at the shelter before 4pm on our open adoption days so we can meet!-Wayside requires bringing the whole family out to meet me before adoption - new people can make me a little nervous.-For my safety, I need to go home on an anti-slip collar called a martingale collar. If you love German shepherds, then meet Gretchen. She is about a year and a half and is good with male dogs so far. She does not like cats and probably no small children due to her size. She if very people friendly. She came from a rural area of Missouri as a stray. She is a working breed so needs exercise or a job to keep her happy. She may need a 6 ft fence but we haven't tested her with a 4 ft fence yet. If you know the breed you will fall in love with her. Right now she is at the vet in boarding but we wanted to get her on the website to see if anyone may be interested in her, then we will bring her into a foster home and know if she is housebroke and crate trained. If you are interested, complete the Adoption Application on our website at www.NeedyPaws.org and we will contact you. Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO. Gretchen’s adoption fee is $295.00, which includes up-to-date vaccinations, heartworm testing and preventative, spay/neuter and microchip. We are a 100% foster-based rescue and all of our dogs live in approved foster homes. We are dedicated to finding the best Forever Homes, and will perform home visits and conduct veterinarian and reference checks for each potential adopter. I acquired Ace beginning of last year he was a great poppy very smart and energetic. I used to take him to work with me every day he would ride out of town with me. Everyone loved him as a puppy but as he got bigger people seemed to be more nervous around him. He is a lover he loves belly rubs and running. Unfortunately I’m not able to keep him anymore because my neighbor called public safety on him for barking too many times and they’ve labeled him a nuisance I’m not in a situation where I can move to a house atm. I took him to a friend of mines back yard for a little while but she doesn’t have a fence so I have to tether him. He comes in a night but lately her health has not been great so she can’t deal with it I still see him everyday but because I work early I only see him after work. He really is a great dog easily the best dog I have had I really hate that I have to give him up but unfortunately my hands are tied I would love to see him in a good home. Bruce is 4 year old German Shepherd. He is very loving and loyal to his owners. He loves to go on walks, play with toys, bones, hose, flirt pole. He was once kennel trained but hasn't used one for a couple of years. He had 2 dog siblings that he knew since a puppy, that have since passed away. They were his best friends and he always wanted to play. He is leash reactive towards all dogs and children. It's unknown if he would like other pets in the house. He would need a very slow and cautious introduction with someone experienced with reactive dogs. He cannot be around children at all. That is why we have decided to rehome him. He is definetly a guard dog and will intimidate any visitor. When meeting new people, he needs slow/calm introduction. He can like almost anyone once he knows them well. Bruce needs a home with someone experienced with the breed, tall fenced in yard. Someone with patience and love to give. He needs a pill before he eats for exocrine pancreatic insufficiency.
