Story
Meet Millie May!
Quick Facts:
Breed: German Shepherd X.
Estimated Birthday: 12/11/2022
Size: 65#+, this big girl already weighs in at 52#!
Sweet Millie May was found running around at a Dollar General by a good Samaritan who took her home to help find her family. After several weeks with no luck, Millie May entered into the rescue world in hopes to find an owner who will do their best to reduce her Dollar General escapades in the future. ;)
In true puppy form, Millie May loves being in on all the action. She enjoys playing with all the toys, her foster sibling and hanging out with her humans. She loves a good car ride, chewing on bones & has recently discovered the art of swimming. She is a goofy girl, but maintains her sweet nature while proving how incredibly smart she is through training! She is very food motivated & we encourage her adoptive family to utilize this to perfect her training. She does know "sit", "down" & is working on "stay". Millie May continues to work on her jumping habit, leash walking, not eating her foster sibling's food, and general boundaries.
She does well with other dogs, but usually barks initially to audibly let you know just HOW eager she is to play with a potential new friend. That being said, her manners need some tweaking and she can be a little exuberant in her love and play style that can be too much for the elderly crowd or those who are too grown for annoying puppy antics. She can be protective of her favorite bone with other dogs in the home, but is easily redirected with another bone or toy she likes.
She has done well with the cat in the home and doesn't pay him any attention, though she has been overly interested in meeting the cats she has seen outside & the fact that they don't want to meet her makes her want to meet them SOOO much more.
She has not met a child, but is a big puppy with lots of energy to burn. She sometimes knocks things over & sometimes her feet forget how to feet, and that may include bulldozing children who are less on the durable side.
Millie May does well on a leash, but does pull a little when she gets excited. She is working on house training (and may have an occasional accident in the house), and is crate trained, but will 100% let you know how much she hates being in it.
Puppies require training, so Millie May is no different. Expect to work to potty train your newest addition as well as work with them on their basic obedience. We highly encourage enrolling your new addition in training courses to teach obedience and socialization skills. Please remember puppies are A LOT of work and are a commitment for life. This puppy may be mixed with pit bull - we do not know.
