Story
Sweet Miya is around four years old, a super girl who is ready to find her forever home. No cats, and no small dogs. She is fine with dogs around her size. She is a very smart girl and would be a great companion for someone. If you think she may be the girl for you, please continue to read and fill out our on line application RECOMMENDATIONS & PROCEDURES Please note, the following are recommendations for puppies and different breeds of dogs. We will evaluate each application on an individual basis to see what is best for the dog/puppy and the potential adopter. Puppies are very fragile and not toys. We recommend children be at least six years old to be considered to adopt a puppy. Small breed dogs ( such as chihuahuas, yorkies, shih tzus , etc) we recommend children be at least eight years old. Herding, working breeds we recommend children to be at least 12 years old. Again these are recommendations. Adoption Procedures: We will travel up to two hours ( one way) to do physical home visits and we do not do virtual home visits. ( we are in Cleveland County NC) Most of our dogs come from bad situations and we want to know where their forever home is going to be. While we do not require fencing on all dogs, certain dogs that need a fenced in yard, will not be adopted unless potential adopter has one. We also adopt some dogs to people who live in apartments ( as long as the landlord approves) but not all dogs. We do not adopt to anyone under 21 years of age. We also do not feel college students are the best fit for most of our dogs. Most of our dogs again, come from bad situations and need lots of attention. Most college students have financial responsibilities and we feel need to be focused on school. Our goal is to match the dog with a family that fits the dog’s needs. We are solely focused on what is best for each dog in our rescue. These dogs have had enough moving around, dumped out like trash, and we want to ensure they find their forever home. We do require you sign a contract and if at any time you cannot continue to provide for the dog, the dog comes back to the rescue. Your first step to adoption is filling our our on line application. You will then get an automated email stating we got your application Next our adoption coordinator will be in touch either by phone or email If your references check out, a home visit will be scheduled. After the home visit is done, a meet and greet with the dog you are interested in and/or any other available dogs we have will be scheduled If the dog and you are a match, contract will be signed and you may take your new family member home. [DogName] is a COURTESY LISTING available for private adoption -- for more information, please contact the owner listed below. DO NOT apply through the GSRA website as this dog and owner are not affiliated with GSRA. This beautiful female German Shepherd is looking for a new home where she can truly thrive. She is 2 years old, spayed, very healthy, and has good hips. She is fully up to date on all vaccinations and has been well cared for. Due to incompatibility with our other female dog, weve made the difficult and responsible decision to find her a new placement. Despite time and effort, the situation has not improved, and her safety and well-being are our top priority. She would do best as the only pet in a home experienced with German Shepherds and with older children. In the right environment, she has the potential to be a loyal, devoted companion. Our goal is to place her in a safe, stable, and permanent home with someone who understands the breed and can provide consistent leadership and care. Vet records, photos, and additional information are available, and were happy to answer any questions to help ensure the best possible match. Story
Hi there! My name is Chester, and Im a big, happy German Shepherd boy whos ready for a fresh start with a forever family. Everyone agrees I likely had a home not long agomy coat looks great, I had no fleas, and I was even wearing a nice leather collar (no nametag though awkward). A Little About Me Im a friendly guy who warms up quickly. When people come to meet me, I check them out for a second and then Im all in: pets, ear rubs, feet touches, and even gentle handling like checking my teeth. Im affectionate, cooperative, and I really enjoy being close to my people. Ive especially bonded with one of the shelter workers, Laura (she clearly has excellent taste in German Shepherds). Sometimes I lean on her for reassurance, but Im also brave and curiousonce I know Im safe, Im happy to engage and connect. My Culinary Preferences Lets be honest Im not much of a kibble connoisseur. Kibble is fine, but have you ever had cheese? CHEESE is the greatest invention of all time. I take treats gently, and I do not guard my food. Toys? Now Youre Speaking My Language I LOVE ballstennis balls, rubber balls, bouncy balls if it bounces, Im in. Ill chase it, bring it back, and happily release it when asked. Im excited, playful, and polite about it. How I Feel About Other Dogs I like them! I met a female dog and was polite and respectful. I also met a male dog named Sabre through the fence and did the classic play-bow with tail wags. We then walked together on leashes and I stayed calm, friendly, and social. No aggression from mejust a lot of Want to be friends? What I Know (So Far) I know how to sit (and yes, Im proud). Im still learning other commands and polite manners, and because Im big and strong, Ill do best with continued training and consistency. Im smart, eager, and I want to learnI just need someone to teach me. Do I Get Anxious? I may have a little anxiety in new or noisy environments, which isnt unusual. What helps most is having a steady person nearbyIm eager to bond closely with my human. Why Youll Love Me Im a sweet, playful, people-loving shepherd with a gentle heart and a goofy love of balls (and cheese). Im ready to settle into a home where I can feel safe, learn the rules, and be someones loyal shadow. If youre looking for a best friend who will bring you laughter, devotion, and daily ball-retrieval services, I might be your guy.
